Mechanical and Vibrato Godin
Hand made in Canada and assembled in the USA.
The quality is impeccable, it is a simple but elegant strat.
The body is more massive than a Fender hair, wood quality is felt at the grip.
Godin cover included. It does not replace a flight case, but to say, as the protection level of the guitar (a little stiff padding) and quality (including seams and straps, no plastic parts), it is simply the best case I've seen so far. It really inspires confidence: the kind of detail that counts!
UTILIZATION
The interface that we know to stratocasters, very nice on the knees, standing or as you see fit. The handle is honestly light, which gives it an amazing balance.
His handle is let go varnish happily. Its profile is a particular strand: the radius does not substantially refines arriving at the nut, and it is not very thick, without Ibanez handle either! The action is low in the nut section 22 point profile C (or very very light) which is good for me since I'm allergic. Access to treble ok. In short, a perfect grip, comfort and playability are definitely there, it's a pleasure and an invitation to play.
In terms of controls, it has a 5-way switch, which all have their character and interest. 2 knobs, volume is progressive and meets impeccably (happiness for crunch sounds), and the tone that I use to infuse a little jazzitude in my sound, it is perfectly usable, which is far from the case of all other strats and teles ... Finally, feature, the small black button next to the tone knob button (yes, look good in the pictures of the product). HDR (High-Definition Revoicer) is apparent to me a boost, but not that so once activated, increases the volume a bit, especially the sound gets a nice thickness and a little gain. Typical use: it's time to slam a solo? do not hesitate for a second and push me this button! The godin greater presence, which is more appreciable in beef or on stage, without "turn up the volume." It is little more innovation, and it succeeded.
The godin lifts are high-end, no need to change or to gotoh wilkinson. Accurate, and keep jolly good agreement including playing happily the whammy bar (screw). Note that the guitar, new, was REALLY set is rare. The handle does not frieze and its accuracy is to test the tuner even beyond the 12th fret. Personally, this is unheard of on a Fender tuning.
SOUNDS
What about ...
After having toured together, I do not think we can get a bad sound of the Godin Progression. Never a poor sound, a small sound, a sound shrill, flat sound, no, nothing works.
Three single-coil pickups have plots larger than normal. They are balanced, the sound is rich and can appreciate raw, it also allows work to carve sharp treble, bass round, punchy mids etc.. We can not say they are "versatile", but now I smile people say and suggest that you can play everything with a single guitar. No, they are pêchus to restore hope and with fidelity acoustic guitar, slamming the maple fingerboard as the resonance of the wood body. They ultimately real depth and personality without pushing to be "typed". For example, they are still a little mat as those that fit the fender strats U.S. but especially MEX.
For positions 2 and 4 (bridge + neck + middle and middle) are those that come closest to the sound of "real" one stratum, the crystal clear sound buddy guy or hank marvin, the crunch nervous stevie ray just waiting to be released, ready to use.
The 5, the neck pickup is warm, you can easily play with the tone and lowering the treble a bit of reverb in overdrive we arrive safely in a sound that takes guts to even Jimi Blackmore. Iron in a clear stroking his jazzy (I said no and jazzy jazz huh) bossa etc.
The 3 (three pickups in series) has a lot of twang. Cut low and hop Chicago blues here I am. Add a tremolo and you play the surf rock to the Jaguar. I was also impressed with the punch of funk in this position, even if its for the james brown it will go to position 1 (bridge).
Let's talk about elsewhere. It will probably delight in the country side scratch (the "countryeux?"). Otherwise I have to say it supports unflinchingly distos busiest wholesale hard rock that spot. No, really, we come to discover that there is no double that in the life of heavy, given that apart perhaps DiMarzios every single tolerate up to a certain saturation point where they start to spit and informs infamous electric mush. Or staying in more reasonable crunch, it makes Rory Gallhager without breaking the head (well there must be true) and with a discrete delay and reverb, the tone down a chouilla, it is surprising out worthy sounds of Gilmour and I'm not kidding. It's a treat, make a languid but precise bend, and the guitar sings, subtly play with vibrato and she whispers.
In all kinds akin to blues, rock and other will be at ease, out of vintage sounds of a modern guitar is the foot.
OVERALL OPINION
I bought my Godin progression (an exposure model for close to half of its factory prices) almost a year ago, and it's just if I dropped since.
The Canadian brand product of good, average good and sometimes excellent as I could see trying this beauty.
I do against a trade the Fender Stratocaster for anything. I love everything about her, she inspires me and gives me pleasure when I play. This is both a fully functional and well thought out tool and a work of art, a piece of exceptional craftsmanship: in fact, it is everything you would expect from an instrument quality.
If you have read this opinion is that you probably have nothing against stratocasters or have an affinity for Godin, from there, I STRONGLY advise you to try it in store for you to review. If you already are considering ordering, but you are looking for a positive testimonial for you to decide, that's done, buy it is an exceptional instrument.
New it sells for a little over € 900 if I'm not mistaken. If you know the rates, you quickly realize that it is not very interesting to pay a double guitar its value its brand name (as said, try the Southwestern before making a standard). Godin does not take its customers for apples and offers a price that might suggest a mid-range instrument a guitar part, which sounds fantastically well, is beautiful without make-up or glitter and perfectly successful.
This choice I would a thousand times
It's MY strat and I bet you would love me as much as if it were your own!
Musically.
