« Most common RG »

The Ibanez RG570 is probably the most common RG out of all of them out there. It's been in production for as long as I can remember. The guitar features a basswood body with a maple neck and a rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets, an Edge tremolo, dot inlays, HSH configuration, one volume pot, one tone pot and a five way switch.

This is the definitive shred machine, and it's continued to set the bar for the past 20+ years. The neck on this is super thin. When I mean super thin, I really mean super thin. It's totally flat too. That means you can get insanely low action without an issue. The neck joint on these is not bad; it's cut back a bit, but the newer ones are better. The best thing about this is the Edge tremolo. It's one of the best trems out there. It lasts for decades, feels amazing and stays in tune.

The sound is kinda polarizing. Basswood is a warm and middy wood, and not everybody enjoys that. The pickups in this thing stock suck. They're pretty thin and lifeless. However, they really come alive once you start putting in some nice DiMarzios. My favorite are probably Breeds, Air Norton, Tone Zone or the such as they can really bring a new dimension to the sound of this. The best thing is that it's an HSH configuration so you have a super versatile configuration that can do nearly any style. I especially like these for Fusion, personally.

Given the used prices of these guitars, they're some of the absolute best guitars you can buy. The necks are super thin and flat, the trems on these are some of the best ever created and it's extremely versatile. You'll probably need to replace the pickups, but I thin everyone should own at least one of these.
