This is one of the first guitars that Ibanez released with a double edge bridge, if I recall correctly. For those who don't know, it has a piezo in the bridge saddles, and it creates an acoustic-like sound when you select it. The guitar has a mahogany body, a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, 24 jumbo frets, dot inlays, a Double Edge piezo bridge, two humbuckers, two volumes, one tone, a piezo switch and a five way switch.

UTILIZATION

The guitar had one major problem to it. The back of the neck had some very faint cracks where the locking nut attaches. I could fix that with glue, and there are tutorials online to follow in order to properly fix these, but it's something to look out for when buying these older Ibanez guitars. The rest of the guitar was perfectly fine. There were no issues with the frets at all, and they were perfectly level. The switches, pots and all other electronics functioned just like they sound.

SOUNDS

The guitar had some aftermarket pickups swapped in it. It had the DiMarzio Evo 2 in the bridge and the DiMarzio Evo in the neck. The Evo 2 is a very cool pickup. I find it to be a lot more responsive and harmonically richer than the normal Evo. You can get all kinds of cool harmonics and blazing riffs going on, but you can also back it off for some nice lower gain complexity, unlike the Evo. The Evo in the neck is an onslaught of power. It's very direct and responsive. The smallest touch will allow for notes to jump right out. The piezos on this are really fun to play with, as well.

OVERALL OPINION

If you need a piezo equipped guitar with a double locking trem, this is probably worth getting. They're very high quality guitars, and you get a lot for your money. The stock pickups in them suck, but they're pretty easy to replace. Watch out for the neck being cracked. Aside from that, they're great.
