I started playing three years ago. I played hard rock but now i just love to sit and imrovise. I play alot of classic stuff like vivaldi too. this guitar sounds great when i play classic music .

I bought this guitar in in a local store in Israel. I paid about 600$ for it. I know it sells for about 400$ online but but it worth way more than that

It's perfect for musicians who play music similar to Metallica and Trivium because of it's heavy sound. The neck is very comfortable so its easy to play fast stuff on it.

the only thing i don't like about it , its changing the stirng .it takes too long!!the pick ups aren't that great for the clean sound.

the body is painted very well , the black color is beautiful. the guitar is lite and easy to play while standing. the neck is smooth. the wammy bar is great ,no matter how long you use is the strings stay tuned.the only problem is that my volume switch fell a couple of time.

Musicians who play heavy music got to have a Jackson DXMG, cause you can't play heavy with a fender!

I played 15 years ago, quit, took up drums for the last 10 years, then realized how easy the guitar was again...and space issues help that decision.

$445.00, Guitar Center...I have always loved Jackson's but have never owned one, so I purchased the best one I could afford that had all the classic Jackson features: reverse headstock, sharkfins, tremolo, comfortable body, and of course quality.

I enjoy the neck and the body as far as comfort goes. I love the looks, however I'm sure someone liked the Yugo also. I like the locking tremolo it is easy to maintain. The EMG's sound great and are a nice step up from the lower models.

Nothing has yet surprised me, although I wish it had seperate volume and tone for the pickups.

Construction is good and no problems yet with the quality.

I enjoy the guitar, wish i could afford a soloist.

I bought this guitar from good vibrations. i needed an agressive to satisfy the metal-head in me guitar and i hated my Epiphone les paul gothic. I got this guitar 2nd hand for $1500.

I own an Ibanez s series and it is mellow. mellow looking, mellow tone. this guitar is the polar opposite. it looks like the spawn of satan and has a sound to match. the floyd rose tremolo unit is great, and the low action is perfect for spewing death metal riffs. it has screaming highs and growling lows (thanks to the EMG pickups its loaded with) and pinch harmonics are a dream to execute.

There is no pickguard, so if you arent careful you may scratch the paint. the black colour shows fingerprints easily. aside from this the guitar is so sturdy you could knock an elephant out with it.

Bottom line, this is the perfect metal guitar. divebombs, tapping, palm muting. the guitar practically does them for you. If you are a die hard fixed bridge fan, get a gibson, otherwise, this is all you really need.

I paid 299.99 at musicians friend, they must of had a overstock on them, This is a great guitar, and it was just what i wanted at the time.

I like the whammy bar, the unfinished neck plays real smoothly, and although a lot of people bash HZ's mine sound good, and they would probably sound a lot better if i didnt play through a rogue amp. The inlays are sweet too

the only complaint that i had was that if i turn my volume knob all the way up it cuts out, but its not such a big problem anymore, unless im doing swells. also one of the mounting screws for my whammy bar came out, but that was just because i was trying to put more springs on. and It might be nice if they had it in other colors …

It is very well built and a great metal guitar.

I was looking through the musicians friend catalog and this guitar was the only one that said best seller, take that Fender!!!!!

I bought this guitar from Dave Phillips Music and Sound, a nearby, well-known guitar shop around where I live. I was looking for a great guitar as I became a much better guitarist to fill my needs of playing some heavy metal and metal-core, mainly Metallica, Killswitch Engage, and In Flames. I paid about 350 for the guitar.

I love the heavy sound you can create with the guitar, with the right amp that is. The Peavey Bandit 112 works great with this guitar, but Line 6's work better. The intonation is perfect, I like the 24 frets on the guitar, and the pickups are unbelievable, EMG's. The Floyd Rose is pretty good too because you stay in close to perfect tuning the whole time.

The band I am in plays in B tuning, which meant I had to pay about $50 to adjust the setup and add some springs to the Floyd Rose. The only thing I don't like about the guitar itself is how I have to either wrench out the neck to change the tuning or unscrew the saddle to do it. Other than that, I love the guitar.

The quality is awesome and the sustain is near perfect. It's a metallic black, shiny looking guitar, but pretty plain. It's a fairly heavy guitar but when you're up on stage playing this guitar in front of a crowd it all goes away. The action on the neck is perfect.

I would rate it a 4.5. It's not perfect but it's better than a 4. If you like playing heavy riffs with great intonation and action on the neck, then this is the guitar to buy. It can't be said any better, if you need a heavy guitar for a fairly good price, this is the one to get.

Guitar Center, price asked was $450 and got them to match price with musiciansfriend for $300.

The neck is the most comfortable neck i ever played, very easy to work with. Stock pickups were ok... but had them replace with EMG 60 at the neck and an 81 at the bridge. Now this guitar is complete.

    Nothing much...

Great construction for the price... best for this price range.

If u need a good guitar and are on a budget... get this guitar. The stock pickups are nice... overall it is a great guitar.

$250 on Ebay - was looking for a nice guitar for lead stuff.

Well...lots of stuff! Jumbo frets were nice, b/c my previous guitar was really worn down as far as frets go, and it was so easy to play lead stuff on this. Very comfortable neck, and the locking trem stayed in tune nicely even when I did some very aggressive whammying. Sounds great with distortion for any kind of rock or metal! Big strap buttons were stock so my strap never fell off. Fantastic looking guitar, too! Beautiful jet black finish that I could see myself in (well...that was the only ugly part...).

It was kind of a pain to re-string, but well worth it once the strings were on. This baby has some weight to it, but…

It was kind of a pain to re-string, but well worth it once the strings were on. This baby has some weight to it, but it wasn't uncomfortable. As far as sound goes, it was kind of a cold and dark sound when played clean, but very powerful. I would have prefered a warmer sound, but that's not what this was made for.

SUSTAIN!!! lots of it! Very sturdy and well built. Finish was great -- I dropped it once on a concrete froor and it hardly even made a mark! Polished it and now you can hardly even notice it at all.

Even though I got it cheap, I think it sells for about 400 online new. At that price it is an amazing value if you are looking for a moderately priced shred-machine with great features! Don't have any second thoughts about it -- you won't regret buying it unless you want a blues guitar, but then why are you looking at a Jackson anyway??? Fantastic guitar at a great price!

I bought this guitar on ebay when I was looking for a better guitar, as I was becoming a much better guitarist. I paid $225 - a steal. Mostly, I bought it for it's features - Floyd trem, 24 frets, EMGs, etc.

At the time, I was using a PA with no EQ, and a Boss Metal Zone. I'm not really a metal-head, but I loved how well the pedal worked worked with it to make some amazing low-end and high gain sounds. Very comfortable and solid guitar. I was very pleased with the Floyd Rose trem - I could dive bomb and yank on the strings, and it always stayed in very close tuning ("fine tuners" are great). Great solid, powerful tone from the EMG-HZs for any kind of rock. Very good looking guitar.

What I didn't like was...that rock seemed to be all it could do. No warmth to the sound at all. I ended up selling the guitar a few months later b/c it was not what I would call a versatile guitar.

Bolt-on neck, but VERY good sustain. Some of that comes from the weight. Rather heavy piece of alder, but not too bad. Quality was flawless. There was no fancy finish to have flaws in though...just a simple mirror-like black - very nice. I would definately count on it for live playing.

I give it a 4 b/c for the price, if you are looking for a great rock guitar, this cannot be beat - at all. Great features, great looks, great sound, but not very versatile in the tone department (or tuning - locking nut). It would be about impossible to play anything but what it was made for, but I guess it's targeted at the group who want what it can do, and nothing else (either that or you have enough money for more guitars...). I highly recommend this guitar (unless you're into blues or jazz).

EMG Hz pickups original H4 (cramique liabilities).

As usual 'on MIJ Jackson, the volume knob is good crachotte and change quickly.

Otherwise, the look is nice and simple, the finish is trs honnte enough given the price of content bte.

Please note, prices outrageous for all Fender Accessories (239 for a flight Jackson stamp, if it is not theft!).

The DXMG I had a t change: handle huil meca Gotoh chrome hardware, Floyd Original and microphones varied: I used the scraper to test configs microphones.

    UTILIZATION

The neck is wide and flat. However, I find it less enjoyable and comfortable as my DR2, there is something that ESG ... a bit more pais?

CHAC is the acute dcevant: the plate is lowered, but it is always square (in contrast to LAG and ESP / Ltd, bevelled), and hangs a little. The design is also diffrent the United States (the plate is tilted, as in Hamer, and has spent more).

The weight can be forgotten, the volume knob is really too close to Floyd.

But otherwise, apart from these small Dolanc, it sounds pretty empty. And I'm super fussy at the moment.

    SOUNDS

With the original pickups (EMG Hz H4 cramique if you had lost the thread) is honnte. The sounds are not saturated dgueux, but a bit bland, a lack of personality should be a key chtite madness. It lacks DEFINITIONS, punch. Clearly, one would expect, it's not b'en ecstasy. While still having the lack of characters.

With good pickups (EMG, DiMarzio, Duncan, Bill Lawrence, etc..), This guitar is rvle last!
In short, with the original pickups, it's a 5 max ...

    OVERALL OPINION

B'en good chtite scratch that has nothing to envy any full-Ibanez, Ltd., etc.. And she has good potential for optimization, provided to support the location of the volume knob (it is not always the DCAL, but did not leave the class trs original hole).

She has a good lil look, sober, microphones bofbof. She asks that be amliore (2 good microphones and on the way to the moon!).

The matrial utiliss sries can be as pathetic: first, the block-vis the strings are not enduring and can break the block-chords (see FAQ).

More agaant: the handle of mine had moved. He does well by re-state my luthier prfr.
It s not a quality of wood and directs a high-end hair pulling nag Mount by former owner. But, hey, work with experts, the handle was saved (my bank account a little less!). Cel would never have happened with a blow to the neck area, much more rigid. And also with better wood and better quality SCHS.

In short, now I make more money in prfre dpart and be virtually assured of proper aging, because the Asians cheap, it's a little lottery.

    Decent Jackson for the money

Jackson DXMG DinkyPublished on 03/19/11 at 05:47
The DXMG is part of a series of budget guitars built overseas. It features two humbuckers, a volume, tone and three way switch. This particular model comes with a reverse headstock and the famous Jackson sharkfin inlays. Today's models are a bit different from the one I had. Today's models feature a basswood body, but mine actually had an alder body when I bought it. I'm not sure exactly what year they changed the wood, but the older models might be worth looking into if you're not a fan of basswood. Today's models also come with a gig bag; mine didn't come with anything.

Today's models also come with a gig bag; mine didn't come with anything.

    UTILIZATION

Jackson didn't do too bad of a job on this guitar. It's not the best by any means, but it's not too bad. The binding was decent, and the overall fit and finish was pretty good for the price. However, the pickups are pretty weak. I was never a fan of the EMG HZ series, so I replaced them with the active 81/85 set. The neck is a standard thin/medium kind of neck with a cool compound radius. This allows for easier bending up high with better chording near the nut. The biggest issue I had was the cheap floyd they put on it. I really wish it had an OFR, but at this price point, I can understand why it didn't have one.

    SOUNDS

The sound on mine was pretty good. Alder, maple and rosewood is a classic combo that seems to almost always sound good. When I replaced the EMG HZ pickups with the 81/85 set, it really came to life. Some people like the 85 in the bridge, but I personally prefer the 81 in the bridge. It gave it a nice bite, and the guitar was perfect for heavy metal.

    OVERALL OPINION

If you're looking for a budget Dinky style Jackson, this guitar is worth looking into. I'd look for an older one with the alder body, personally. Basswood works well with Ibanez, but when I think of Jackson, I think of either alder or mahogany. Also, I'd be prepared to replace the pickups and maybe even the tremolo. A good setup will give you a good playing guitar at a decent price.
