I got it as a gift.

It has the comfortable strat-esque body with the forearm contour and tummy cut. The bottom of the body is slightly more round than a strat, but it's no big deal. It's got a bucker in the bridge for heavier stuff, and two standard single coil pickups in the neck and middle positions for clean and milder dirty playing. The neck and middle pickups get a good glassy strat sound, and the bridge humbucker is punchy.
The tuning machines are fairly well made, though there is a bit of slop (side to side)in them. The fingerboard is extremely well made for a mass-produced guitar, it feels good, and the frets are well seated. The tone knob is nice and responsive compared to some o…

The tuning machines are fairly well made, though there is a bit of slop (side to side)in them. The fingerboard is extremely well made for a mass-produced guitar, it feels good, and the frets are well seated. The tone knob is nice and responsive compared to some other guitars that I have played, and I like the simplicity of the standard five position switch.

The humbucker is not very good sounding, but I don't use it much clean, so it's a bit hard to tell when I'm playing it. The volume knob has a sudden dropoff at about 3. The bridge is situated so that when I put the whammy bar on it, it is too low, and it hits the pickguard and the knobs way too soon, so I can't bend very much. I had to resolder a few connections that came loose after a while, and the jack socket is being really annoying right now, because it works itself loose, and it cracks and pops. The bridge only came with three springs which was not even sufficient to balance light guage strings, so I had to get aftermarket springs. The heel is very chunky in my hand when I try to play high notes. The heel problem could have been solved by giving it a contour like on a PRS, but luckily it is still possible to play, but it's a bother. I don't like the shape of the headstock, but at least it's just cosmetic

It's pretty well put together. As I mentioned before, the jack socket keeps coming loose, and I don't know why. The tuners could be a little more heavy duty, but they're not bad. The neck is bolted onto the body like on a strat with the metal plate. This has never been a problem, and I have never had to adjust the neck angle. The body is constructed from from what seems to be five pieces of what they say is a wood called Agathis, which I've never heard of, but then I've never hear of Nato either, which is what my acoustic is made of. The neck is a piece of flatsawn eastern rock maple. I would prefer it to be quartersawn, but you can't have everything. The bridge is a standard no-name six-hole tremolo. The body finished in a sort of reddish orange semi-burst with a thick clear lacquer topcoat.

It's a good guitar to learn on, but if you do get it to learn on, take it to a repair shop to have the action lowered! I certainly wouldn't take it to a gig unless I didn't have anything else, which unfortunately is the case for me right now. I doesn't have a great sound, but for a beginners ear, it ought to be fine. It's easy to get bored with this one, but stick with it and you'll get used to it.

I got this guitar from a pawn shop in almost brand new condition for $159 CDN.

I must admit i'm somewhat partial to Yamaha as i have found they put out good quality instruments at reasonable prices. The pacifica is not only sharp looking, it is extremely playable and the action on the neck is great; defineatly a non-deterrent for beginning guitar players. The factory pick-ups are very responsive with distortion/overdrive.

I must admit that the clean sound from this guitar lacks some brightness and the tone isn't that great (good, but not great).

The stock bridge is a little flakey and you may find yourself struggling to continually keep your guitar in tune. With a small $50-100 inv…

The stock bridge is a little flakey and you may find yourself struggling to continually keep your guitar in tune. With a small $50-100 investment, the bridge could be replaced with a more precision static one without the tremolo ability (a major flaw with the stock bridge).

Solid stratocaster for the money. Built well, and comes in a melange of finishes and gold/chrome hardware for the fancy kids.

I love the neck on this guitar!! Very comparable to a fender product. Solid body adds a little weight and gusto to the feel of it and puts a little more chunkyness in the guitar sound, especially when overdriven.

Great bang for the buck. A solid stratocaster for the beginner and mid-level guitar player who are money-conscious

i got it in houston, as my first guitar 4 years ago, payed about $150

sounds decent when it is working, nice look

the guitar is wired liked a piece of crap, three times the plastic piece that holds the input has broken, often sounds staticy

crappy I had to solder the wires myself twice

not worth the money I paid to fix it so many times

I paid $200 for this guitar at a music shop. I think it was originally 300, but it had a small unoticable scratch so it was 200.

It is well designed and sounds great. It has good action and works really well. Its a solid sombich. I likie.

It doesnt stay tund for too long when you mess with the wammy bar and its just too dern pretty.

    dang good

Its a really good deal. I likie more than quite a few more expensive models, and it has all the nice convenient dots.

Bought from Gamlins Music Store, South Wales for £130

I bought this guitar because I hadn't even learned a basic tab at the time! I wanted to play guitar and needed something to start with, and this one seemed to be a good all rounder; plus I wasn't too keen on spending loads, so the price was a main factor for me buying it.

This guitar is the ideal beginners guitar, but that doesnt stop it from being a guitar for experienced players as well. In this past year since I bought it I have been pleased, and it has helped me develop my playing ability. The sounds it can produce are very varied, so you can play soft acoustic riffs or crank it up to play heavy stuff like Metallica. Its well built - I've knocked it many times and theres been no damage; the paint job is of high quality (mine is a deep blue), and it has the same kind of look as a Fender Strat.

I find it a bit too...boring...well basically I bought it because I was not keen on spending loads of cash on something I couldn't play, but now I feel like I want something more interesting, such as a Les Paul or Gothic Explorer. Its got a very standard shape and colour - it doesn't have any personality to it. I can say that about the only thing I don't like about it is its appearance, but then you might like it like that. Hey, a guitar is a guitar...

Very well constructed, excellent quality finish. You can't go wrong with a Yamaha; they are made to the highest standards.

Buy it if you are a first time player and want a low budget instrument. Choose this over the Squier range - you're getting much better value for your money!

This guitar was purchased from Belle Air music in London Ontario, Canada. I paid $495 Canadian. This guitar normally retails for around $650 CAN. List is $1000.

This guitar is a strat shaped guitar. Its got an alder body, Wilkinson VS-100 trem, sperzel locking tuners, coil tapped humbucker at the bridge and single coils (all pickups are Alnico) at the neck and middle positions. For asthetics it has a great classy looking pearloid pickguard.

There isn't anything that I dislike with this guitar.

I got this guitar for Christmas, was round about £170. Awsome for playing solos and even better for a rhythm guitar. Suited for all levels of guitarists. Even Slash!

I like the shape and versatility of this guitar. It beats the Fender Strat twice over for comfort and sound. It simple two changable dials and three pick-ups make it just right. It is alot lighter than most electrics i've Jammed with.

    Nothing.

Lovley electrical tradional shape. Nice and light providing a comfortable playing. Lead input is in a conveinient position too.

Great guitar ll around for any level of guitarist and well worth the price twice over, one of my best presents. My MG30DFX amp was my fav:).

I got this guitar because I was advised in several guitar shops that it was the best guitar, for an all round beginner, under £200. After looking around I got it for £190 in Allegro.

I'm very pleased with this guitar. It looks nice, sounds nice, and plays like a dream. Not one of the frets overlaps the fret board by a fraction of a millimetre. The fret board itself if made from a smooth hard-wood which makes string bending a lot easier than on it's main rival, the fender squire. Tuning is precise, and it all feels solid and well made.

The strings are quite close together which can make fast solos a little bit fiddly if your used to a wider neck, but you shouldn’t really notice. Also there…

I love the shape of the body; it seems to just fit perfectly. It's all very well made out of strong woods. The fret board is particularly well made as I mentioned earlier. It's all firmly screwed and glued together and it seems to be pretty strong too.

If you're looking for a great looking, great sounding first-time electric guitar that can handle a range of styles, buy it!

I bought this guitar, when i started playing again. I really liked the way it sounded, and how easy it was to play. it has a good neck and body.

I like the way it sounds. Hooked up to my amp, I get the grundge sound that I just love.

the plug unit seems to always becoming loose, no big deal, a wrench and its tight again.

I like the way this guitar is built. It has been with me for over 2 years now, and is still the guitar I pick up first to play on.

This is a great guitar for someone who is looking to play, but doesn't have alot of experience. It is very easy to handle, and has a fast neck.

I bought this guitar from Musicians Friend for about $140. I was just learning to play guitar and I needed to get a cheap yet reliable and good sounding guitar. I had played other guitars for about the same price, but they just seemed to be TOTALLY crappy sounding and were quite ugly too. Most other places listed this guitar for about $250, which I was just not willing to play as a beginner.

This is a very sturdy guitar, it has a simple 2 knob control system (master volume and master tone) and a 5 position pick-up selecter. It also features good sounding pickups, including a hum-bucker, instead of just a cheezey slanted single pickup. The guitar does not even buzz when you are using overdrive and are not touching any strings, which is always a plus. It also comes with a screw in temelo arm, which sounds and works good (for a screw in type). The guitar also holds it's tune very well for not having a string locking system.

I have no real problems with the guitar except for the fact that it has a back feeding string system so you must fish the string through the back and try to get it in the hole of the bridge, unless you want to remove 6 screws to take the plate off.

This is a very high quality guitar, with a GREAT Paintjob. It can take bumps and dings without splitting or cracking at all. The paintjob is also a multi-layer finish so it is very hard to scratch the paint off and is almost impossible to scratch it with your pick.

All in all this is your best bet for a guitar weather you are a beginner or an intermediate guitar player or anywhere in between.

The only 3 things I don't like are that because of the finish I got it dents or scratches fairly easily, but it doesn't show up too badly, the light wood fretboard tends to show up any dirt or anything that's been on your fingers while playing and the nut on the lead socket comes loose every now and then.

It's good quality overall, there's nothing about the manufacture of the guitar that I would complain about and the finish was perfect when I bought it.

A great budget guitar and you can't buy better for the price, if you don't want scratches or dents don't go for the plain light wood finish, or if you have dirty hands go for a dark wood fretboard, but if you have around £180 - £250 to spend on a guitar this is one of the best you can buy.

I played this yesterday in a music store along with several other "bargain guitars" (I didn't dare pick up a Fender, I can't buy one now).

The price was low. It plays easily as well.

The sound just wasn't that great, sort of dirty and blurred. It's supposed to be a strat copy, but doesn't sound like one. Sounds generic. The knobs have to be turned all the way in order for you to notice a difference in loudness or sound. My brother was with me and he thought so too.

I didn't spend much time looking at it I immediately went on to try another brand.

Your basic low-end bargain electric guitar.

I bought this guitar at B-Sharp Guitars in Ft. Wayne, IN. It cost me 179.00 (with tax). I bought it because my old guitar sucked.

When I first palyed it, i knew this was one okay guitar. It didn't have a fancy figured maple top, or gold hardware. It was shaped like a Telecaster with no pickguard and a white finish. It had a maple neck and headstock and sperzel locking tuners. It also had two Seymour Duncan Quad Rail Humbuckers.

So, if your looking for a low-cost, but still good playing guitar. Go buy a Yamaha Pacifica Tele Model.

I bought my Yamaha Pacifica at the Guitar Center in Brea, it was my first guitar, and it's great. I only paid $129.99 for it, and it is really worth it.

I like how unlike a normal yamaha guitar, it has two single coil pickups and one humbucker so that i don't get that annoying humming sound. What i also like is how i can get a sharp tone on my solos, but also get a deep palm mute without having to change settings. I also like the fact that it looks just like a Fender Stratocaster, but it costs less. Also I like the height of the frets because they are low enough to make soloing easy, but high enough so that I can feel some resistance when I press down on the strings.

The only thing I don't like about the guitar is that it come with a plastic cover for my input jack to screw into, and it broke easily, so I had to replace it with a metal one. Also I don't like the fact that it only has two knobs, I would prefer something with three knobs, maybe an extra tone just to change things up a little.

The construction is good, after my many times of taking it apart, I haven't noticed any problem with wiring, or connection, or resistors. I don't what kind of pickups are used in it, but they sound good. I've had my Pacifica for two years now, and I plan to use it for another five because it is constucted pretty solid.

I feel that this guitar is a bargain at a price of $129.99 because I've had Fenders, and they don't sound as good as the Yamaha Pacifica I have now. I really think that

I got the guitar from a local music shop, for £200. I bought it because it looked great as a starter guitar

Its very easy to play, and has a great range of tones.

It looks vey plain, and the tremelo bar de-tunes it VERY easily

Its a heavy guitar, but it seems very strongly built, and t shows no marks at all from when i have dropped it in the past!

Overall, a well-made guitar, which is excellent for value and is the perfect starter model.
    Great for thrashing as well!

I acquired the guitar at H & H music in Houston for $170.

I like the simplicity and color of the guitar; some don't like the 'sparkly' look of the paint, but I personally think it's cool. I also like how the guitar has the same basic 'strat' shape, but with finer points on the cutaway.

After trying other guitars, the fretboard feels a little strange, kinda like I'm having to push the strings down a little too far. Also, I wish I had a second tone control.

It's a pretty heavy guitar. Feels like very solid construction, although the wood composing the neck feels a little fragile. Overall very good craftsmanship for the price.

Good beginner's guitar for the price, but I would recommend that you save and get something a little cooler... $350 BC Rich Warlock for example, or maybe an Epiphone Les Paul.

All in all if you must have something very cheap, I recommend this guitar.

1 humbucker (splittable) and 2 microphones with a simple switch 5 positions provide a good range of color to the sound. The magnets are AlNiCo V, this machinery is a shared volume knob and a tone

To give you an idea, these mechanisms are found as standard on some model stratum custom, vibrato is widely regarded as the vibrato that all should be stratabound and for AlNiCo pickups, it's a noble alloy can play everything. I like!

    UTILIZATION

I will not comment on comfort, it's a matter of taste, know only the treble are easily accessible, the guitar weighs a weight quite bearable. The button has a radius of 12 inches, standard size, the handle seems very normal, and no end or thicker.
The body is built for comfort but then to say that it makes a difference, I do not know. A first groove is cut at the right elbow on the top (see photo). The second is at the navel (or if you play short sternum) below, developers at Yamaha as you have a prominent chest and a flat stomach and slim I guess ...
I let myself go a bit of subjectivity: it is more comfortable but less than a strat LP for what I've experienced.

    SOUNDS

As for sound, again, it depends on your hardware, your tastes.

The humbucker can saturate the well distos if necessary, the possible combinations (seven in all) and the tone controls are obviously a difference in his clear, she gets along very well. In the saturated metal is micro double or nothing in my opinion, the other giving his microphone still very sound.
The combination microphone handle mid + 0 + tone results in a very round sound with a lot of sustain, pretty cool, like on other guitars from the rest.
Note that the AlNiCo, but rather a magnet for blues, I do not play but you crunch the blue, it must be pretty easy.

    OVERALL OPINION

Past technical considerations and comfort, we must recognize that the finish is nickel, pickguard is well posed, screwing the handle is clean with no milling for the plate above, same for the cavity-mail, only the plate to the cavity exceeds the vibrato but who cares. The knobs, after 5 years of loyal service crachotent does not work, same for the jack and switch, the points of attachment of the strap did not move, the saddle is where he was the first day . Not a point of rust on the studs, freight or equipment (this is also thanks to me).
Frankly I'm on your ass, this guitar is much better equipped than a strat US, at least as well and costs over one-half to one third of its price.
There's no competition in this price range and quality. Obviously you have not the prestige Fender or Gibson and shape is very classic guitar just to Dad but if you take the plunge, I do not see how one can be disappointed.
I just wish a natural wood finish but it must pay more and take the 812.

(It's pretty diffrent a stratum, less mdiums).
    Therm in power to lead

    on the other hand in humbucker configuration silent sound a little thin and feeble;
I occasionally replaced the pickups with a set that allows EMG to gain and sustain mdiums.
The sustain is ok but nothing special, and especially the instrument is well plutt the agreement.

    - What type of bridge (Floyd, Wilkinson ...)?
Wilkinson (type SV100 ... I think ...), that's what makes the dffrence compared to standard MODEL. It allows a fairly large movement in two directions. drgle is a not too fast and it also allows a rglage end. 3 spring mounted original posibilit up to 5.

Result: a nice little guitar with versatile and well multiple config. micro allow a wide range of sound. At this price it's quite the exceptional not be!

    UTILIZATION

    - The handle is it enjoyable?
Nothing wrong or too late or normissime, he slips and nickel frets do not hang.

Good notches, CASC up without the 22 bp (thank you form the Start '!)

    - Ergonomics is it good (in terms of shape, weight ...)?
Lgre but not non-existent, although dcoupe to stick to the body. I use gnralement sit and is very well balance.

    - Gets it easy to sound good? ...
Yes and lots of DIFFERENT sounds good, what good is it!

    SOUNDS

    - Appropriate are your style of music?
Blues / Rock, but also pop and occasionally a little "Saturquot;, the advantage is that you can not have everything by changing the selector and possibly the 'Push-Push'

    - With what (s) amplifier (s) or effect (s) do you play?
I play on a Marshall Valvestate 8080 Combo (second-hand ') and from this *$^^^ Reverb makes false contacts (I've got to Remde ... Quick!) it is well suited to the range of sound that I want to get. A perfect my alli Yam '(not a battery ct ridiculous volume level).

(See the above config. Microphones => sounds obtained)

    Conclusion: RAS

    OVERALL OPINION

    - How long have you use it?
    Since 2001 (using Modre): RAS

    - What is the particular feature you like best and least?
The +: versatility and value QualitPrix
The -: hum (unless the cable jack has come home ... not super blind I'd have to see to change it ...)

    - Have you tried many other models before acqurir?
Qqun including: Lag Roxanne RM200 (trs trs good but a bit less versatile) Start mxicaine in the same price range (be little less polish ... And then must admit, with my Yam 'I scratched a new sound and a bag strap with the correct ... Fender Mexico: carrot is the guitar and that's it - for APRS the dealer anyway)

    - How do you report qualitprix?

This guitar made by Yamaha was one of the higher end Pacifica's that they built (This one was built in Taiwan in 1997.) These are great contenders in the superstrat market... but most people mistake them as cheap guitars, so they don't get much respect. The main features are as follows:

    Sperzel Trim-Lok tuners
    Wilkinson VS100 tremolo

It also had what appeared to be a typical H-S-S pickup configuration at first glance. However, the pickups were actually 4 single coils, with two of them coupled together in the bridge position to create a very unique and interesting tone. The single coils were quite glassy, very much like an older Strat. The bridge pickup was actually two single coils in one humbucker slot like I stated, so you could have both running together for an interesting take on the humbucker sound (I found it to be like an extremely thick sounding single coil without noise, but a bit beefier than a stacked "Hot Rail" pickup), or you could coil tap the bridge pickup for some great Stratty bridge pickup tones. The controls were a very simple compliment of a volume and tone control, as well as a five way selector switch.

All in all, I felt that this guitar had a really killer set of features for a great price... definitely a lot of tones to be had for not a lot of change!

    UTILIZATION

The design of the Pacifica is a fairly straightforward "Superstrat" layout... kind of like a Strat that's been out in the sun too long. It was relatively light and balanced easily on the body so I dug it for playing at home as well as in a band setting. The neck was fairly fast, but not Ibanez Wizard thin... so it did have some depth to it which I feel is important. The neck had good upper fret access thanks to Yamaha's neck joint system... which is a 4 bolt system that is attached by two metal plates (one on an angle.) The end result is something similar looks wise to Ibanez's AANJ neck heel, but attaches with those two plates instead of the gromets/washers that Ibanez uses.

It's very easy to get a good tone out of this guitar. As soon as I got it home and restrung, I plugged it in and had some killer classic rock and hard rock tones going. The only real issue I had tone was with the guitar was that I found it to be either a bit too dark or a bit too bright when I got it up to band levels... there wasn't a whole lot of middle ground. I would've liked to see Yamaha use higher quality pickups which might've helped this, but it's a minor quibble, as I had other guitars that I used with my band. When I owned this guitar, I used it more for recording and studio stuff as it seemed to excel at that.

    SOUNDS

When I owned this guitar, I was using a Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp based rig with a MosValve MV962 power amp.

I found the clean sounds to be the high point of the guitar, funnily enough. They were nice and punchy... much like old Strats. When I added some reverb and delay... it was delicious. I could get classic chimey Strat tones from the fifties and sixties, or I could add some mild OD, turn the treble down and get some nice Texas blues type tones as well.

The dirty sounds were really cool, but ultimately they weren't quite what I'd expected. The tones were nice, very crystalline and clear... but only at lower volumes. I found that as soon as I brought the guitar to band practices and ran it through my main rig at band levels, it just sounded either too dark or absurdly shrill. Invariably, I wouldn't want to waste time dialing in tones when we should have been practicing, so I would end up grabbing another guitar. At home levels it was great... but the pickups really lacked something in the gain department at higher volume levels.

Again, I feel that if Yamaha had invested in some high quality pickups for this guitar (like they did with the tuners and tremolo) then it might have worked a bit better for me. Ah well. It isn't a big deal to me since I was not into it for very much and didn't need it to do the superhuman high gain thing, as I had other guitars for that. For what it was, I enjoyed the tones, just not at higher volumes.

    OVERALL OPINION

All in all I felt that Yamaha did a very good job on this guitar, if not a bit of a 90 percent one. The features are killer, the craftsmanship was top notch, and the electronics IDEA was excellent. However, I feel that Yamaha's own pickups were just sub-par... and it led to a guitar that was only about 90 percent there. Obviously one can change pickups, but it seems like a bit of a daunting task considering the wiring and the fact that you'd have to buy two bridge single coils. The only other guitar I've seen with a configuration like this was the early Fender Jeff Beck Strat... and those versions have been out of production for years. I'm sure it's not a HARD task... but for the amount of money I paid I probably wouldn't drop $150 in pickups it anyway.

All in all I feel like these guitars, and Yamaha in general, are extremely underrated guitars and the prices that these go for are undeservedly low. Though I guess that means there are more of them floating around in pawn shops and garage sales for next to nothing for me to snap up...

Playing with the knobs volume and tone controls and push-pull splitter for the dual we get a very wide range of sound. Certainly, it lacks a little personality, but it does very well what he is asked. I use a TS9 to color the sound.
