high quality stereo compressor

Avalon AD2044Published on 12/11/11 at 23:47
The Avalon AD 2044 is a rackable dual channel compressor. It is an analog piece of outboard gear with tubes in it. The connections in back are XLR. Also, this piece of gear is rack able so you can put it on your workstation.

UTILIZATION

The set up is standard for outboard gear as it has XLR connections in the back. The controls are easy to manipulate but it does have more controls than your standard compressor. However, it is pretty easy to learn what it does what when you play around with it. I don't have the manual but if you are just beginning to use compressors it might be a good idea to look at it only because this isn't your typical two or four knob compressor.

SOUND QUALITY

The compression signal produced from the Avalon AD 2044 is very clean and sounds great on a variety of instruments. I especially like it on acoustic guitar and other instruments toward the higher frequency end of the spectrum. It is easy to get a good sound out of this and provides a lot of options with the variety of knobs it has. I also like the metering it has.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Avalon AD 2044 for about a year now. I had been previously familiar with the Avalon AD 2044 , which I still prefer to this one. However, it is nice to have 2 channels on this and is convenient when compression stereo pairs. What I like most about this compressor is the clean signal it produces and the amount of flexibility it has in terms of how many controls it has. As far as high end compressors go, this is a fair price, but is still probably out of the budget of the home studio owner. Regardless, this is a great piece of gear and should be investigated by anyone in the market for a great stereo compressor.

The Avalon AD2044 is a dual channel compressor made with all class A circuits that has XLR connections for both channels and is a rack mountable unit that will take up two rack spaces.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Avalon AD2044 is very easy to follow as it has the basic parameters that you usually see on compressors. The large knobs control threshold and compression, and has smaller knobs for release and attack. There are also a series of buttons on each channel for controlling a variety of options including what shows up on your meter. I don't have a the manual for the Avalon AD2044, but it really isn't necessary as I'm assuming if you are using a top notch piece of gear like......

I don't have a the manual for the Avalon AD2044, but it really isn't necessary as I'm assuming if you are using a top notch piece of gear like this you have used a basic compressor before.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the Avalon AD2044 is really great for all types of applications, as I have used this on everything from drums to vocals. It has a great deal of warmth to it that is not often found on most compressors. It has enough parameters on it to make sure that you can easily zero in on the sound that you are looking for. This compressor really can do it all and is an extremely versatile piece of gear. In addition to all sorts of drums including kick drum, snare drum, and tom toms, I've used the Avalon AD2044 on both male and female vocals, as well as for electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitar, and is desirable for just about any instrument you can think of...

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Avalon AD2044 for about a year and its become one of my favorite compressors to use whenever I have the chance to use it. Its great to have two high quality compressors in one casing that are both versatile and easy to use. The price of the Avalon AD2044 is pretty expensive, but Avalon makes high end gear for professionals looking for top notch quality regardless of the price. Overall, the Avalon AD2044 is a truly great compressor that should be tried by all professional engineers.

For specifications, see data sheet ...

UTILIZATION

The config could not be simpler, threshold, ratio, attack, release, and output link. Sidechain on / off.

SOUND QUALITY

His point of view itself, I find it excellent. He arranges a grave mix Output Digital. The sound is clean, large, accurate. Although what.

Compression point of view, I am more skeptical. The pumping effect is well felt. The response to actions on the set is strong, we must take it easy. Perhaps too much to feel what we do.

OVERALL OPINION

In short, if the torn look, ergonomics is nickel, large metal buttons are hell, the VU meters etc. .... I found this device excellent for those looking to warm up without......

OVERALL OPINION

In short, if the torn look, ergonomics is nickel, large metal buttons are hell, the VU meters etc. .... I found this device excellent for those looking to warm up without waiting for the compressed donf, otherwise it is hollow assured. But a compressor of the invoice to the coast of the opportunity, it's okay. I recognize this brand. For cons, I'm using it as the master, but I remain skeptical for use on a voice or a bass.

Compressor Dual Mono / Stereo Class A transisitor.

Otherwise nothing spcial.

UTILIZATION

It's a fairly quiet compressor rgler, there's no need plenty of practice as a Joemeek for example, compressor or other strong personality.

The VU meters are large and legible trs.

For cons, I give a BMOL for knobs that are on the copy I really test a intolrable quality, especially considering the price of the machine. Any copmpresseur 300 euros a lot better at the (part may be a Behringer, whatever). Again, I do not know if was just a SERIES of knobs dobs (but from the factory, any brand tration srieuse verifies such dtail ), but it's really ill-fitting are a lot of games and in addition......

Again, I do not know if was just a SERIES of knobs dobs (but from the factory, any brand tration srieuse verifies such dtail ), but it's really ill-fitting are a lot of games and in addition it is in a matrieux which is cheap.

So, but if a bte look terrible, THE FIRST approach does not really impress. I STRID, but considering the price, it may require more srieux.

SOUND QUALITY

The least we can say is that it is transparent and well Dfine. There is no change between the time the machine is in or out. It srieux.

But APRS in the rglages tampering, it is clear that compression is soft and trs trs low marks, even with extreme rglages (again, a m'tonne and I wonder even if the machine I tested was not a default, yet the sound is clean).

OVERALL OPINION

In short, if the machine is working properly, I do not see her intrt in a current context. If we would still be in time for classical music recordings on vinyl and its 50 dB dynamic range, I compressendrais. But the time of compression all is, you can not learn much: no grain, no EHJV, no tural modification of the envelope. It is overpriced for the service.

I will be hard to notice overall, but I always note taking into account the rappot quality / price. And even if this is transparent and Avalon prcis his intrt trs is limited and is only for big studios who want to see this beautiful rack trner trs in the control room to impress clients.
