Excellent For Recording, Mixing And Mastering
Published on 01/06/15 at 07:52I use this product for recording, mixing and mastering! You can replace all parts if anything wears out! It comes with and extra cord to add a volume control fader switch and extra length, or keep that extra cord for the option. It easily attaches and detaches. These are closed ear headphones. They do not distort. In comparison with other pro headsets, I will gladly keep mine. You get all the details and they adjust in several places. I've had them on for hours and they are comfortable. These are specifically designed for mixing. The price is great for what you get. They come with a bag to travel, but also you can turn the ear pieces so they don't get crushed. Very good headphones combining comfort, sound and value for money!
Published on 07/06/14 at 02:38After one and a half months of use, these headphones are really perfect and haven't disappointed me.
The pros are:
Exceptional comfort
Manufacturing quality
Quality sound
Value for money
I don't really see any cons, except maybe that they are a bit light.
In any case, there's nothing that justifies the price difference between the KRK KNS8400 and the Shure SRH940si, other than what comes on the pack.
I would certainly buy them again today.
The only thing I'm unsure about is how long they will last. But I'm not worried, given the quality of the materials.

USE AND DESIGN
I use these cans to listen to music and also for my home studio.
I listen to all sorts of music: EDM, jazz, rock, classical music...
They are my first "pro" headphones, although I had several hi-fi models before.
I compared them to the Shure SRH940, which cost about 100 bucks more!
They are really pleasant, light, the materials give you confidence and the ear cup foams are really über-comfortable!!
They are so comfortable that simply putting them on gives me pleasure! You can easily forget you have them on.
However, they don't stay that well on the head, but it's all right for studio headphones.
Compared to the krk, the shure seem really cheap: They are made of rugged plastic parts that don't fit together well and they make noise... The ear cups aren't as comfortable and the foam on the headband hurts the head.
In terms of packaging, they are not exceptional: They come only with a cable (another coiled cable would've been nice), which is of good quality. It also comes with a screw-on adapter, a leather pouch, an antibacterial cloth and a detachable volume remote control, which is very practical because it doesn't alter the sound quality at all.
In contrast, the Shure has a really comprehensive packaging with a straight and a coiled cable, spare foams, and adapter and, especially, a rigid box. That probably explains the 100 bucks difference.
STURDINESS
In terms of sturdiness, I can't really say much because I've only had them for 1.5 months. However, the materials inspire a lot of confidence, compared to the Shure, which feel really cheap.
AUDIO QUALITY
In terms of quality, after breaking them in, these cans easily blow out all the models I've had before! Even hi--fi headphones at the same price point!
They are precise, well-defined, airy. The basses are present, which is exactly what I need for electronic music. That's a real change with regard to my older cans, which had not much lows.
My only point of comparison are the Shure.
Both are similar in the low end and mids, but when it comes to the thighs, there is a difference. I think the KRK are better defined. The Shure have some dips in the mid highs, which make the sound a bit "duller." This makes the mixes sound less airy than with the KRK, and the overall sound is a bit muddled.See less00 - Natspace
A must have for the Mix / Mastering
Published on 01/28/14 at 01:16 (This content has been automatically translated from French)How long have you use it?
Just 4 hours, yes I know it is not to make a more objective test but I was so surprised exceptional quality that I could not help but share my enthusiasm for this product.
Have you tried many other models before buying it?
Yes AKG K-271 STUDIO (made in Austria) I have since 2006, which is an excellent
headphone also but for some reason I do not know yet, but become difficult to keep on

What is the particular feature you like best and least?
+ The quality of the rendered neutral and the right balance of the audio spectrum and the stereo image.
+ The perfect comfort for a headphone of this type even for head / ears the most demanding
+ Its light weight.
+ The possibility of replacing many detachable parts for wear over time.
+ The ability to fold flat for storage atria or transport.
+ Carrying bag and cloth antibacterial cleaning comes with.
+ The price (125 Euros)
+ Its look
- The price of the replacement part (€ 49.00 the pair of pad, 19,95 € spiral cable)
The cumulated thereof rather quickly return to the price of a new headphone.
- The inability to buy it in the U.S. where prices are more reasonable.
- The rarity to find a store in Europe selling replacement parts only
I know bax-shop.fr sells, but you will not have any (no pads for the arch example)
How would you rate the quality / price?
Very good
With experience, you do again this choice?
If my budget can afford me, I will take a second pair of the KNS 8400
immediately.
If you pick a specific, neutral headphones with a balanced report without flattering and comfort
faultless, then go ahead, you'll get your money because this headphone is a gem to the mix
and mastering.
What do you use this headset (sound recording, mixing, mastering, live, studio ...)?
I mainly use this headset to create my compositions.
It is essential to me to have more precision when mixing and mastering.
What music do you listen to?
Mainly trance, techno, and progressive house
Its coatings are they nice?
Fits there easily to your head and your ears?
Do you find it tiring during extended wear (headband too tight, holding warm ear?)
The coating is very nice, the headband fits very well to my "big" head and my big ears.
It is much less tiring to wear my AKG K271 Studio, I unfortunately never happens to bear a few weeks.
I have tested that for 4 hours but I do not have the unpleasant feeling of ears that heaters and want to remove it unlike my AKG.
The headphone itself is light to carry and you will not have this unpleasant pressure that can be felt on other closed headphones or fatigue bear.
The headphone you seem weak or strong?
At first glance, it seems fragile, it seems tough to hit you over time if it held the road.
He has a detachable connection?
Yes this is one of its strengths.
You can change the pads, change the connection cable straight cable or spiral, changing the foam headband and even buy the volume control if it should be changed for x reasons (lost, damaged awkwardly).
Its appearance or performance have they deteriorated over time?
The I still can not do anything I did that for two days when I write these lines.
The audio quality of the headphones you she looks good (serious overall balance, middle, treble, stereo)?
Frankly, from the first listen you will take a masterful slap you and I weigh my words.
Although mine is just a few hours of use the meter, rendering the audio spectrum is really neutral, clean and well balanced.
I confirm that at first he tends to pull a bit more in the treble, but after a few hours of use it all eventually set up and balance.
You sound level seems too low or too high?
Difficult to answer because everything already depends on the volume of the sound source, but in a general
it is widely powerful turn to see 83dB (which I do not recommend if you want to preserve your hearing).
What will become of sound insulation (do you hear outside noise from your headphones, and is what people hear the music you listen to)?
It insulates very well despite his appearance that might suggest otherwise.See less30 - mathieujm
Perfect for the price
Published on 11/24/13 at 09:40 (This content has been automatically translated from French)After 2 months of use, recording a dozen concerts, a lot of mixes and masterings, I am fully satisfied.
Its only flaw (and quality ...): it is really closed and insulation. I might be interested in complement with a good open headphones.
The ratio Q / P is pretty amazing to me.
Sometimes full of good headphones at this time (eg the Focal pro.) Which may prove to be higher, but at prices that are as much higher
I use this headset for 2 months for miking, mixing, mastering classical music.

I use this headset for 2 months for miking, mixing, mastering classical music.
I can compare it to my previous closed headphones: Sony 7506, Beyer DT770 80o, ATH-M50.
This is for me the most comfortable 4 because of its large oval ear with memory foams very flexible form (round atria of 770 was too large and relied on the cheek bone, foams M50 were too hard ). I liked the comfort of the 7506 but the 8400 is much lighter. Beyer was heavier and I did not kept long (and the AT)
To fit on the head, the 8400 is lower (for me) to Sony and AT.
Like all closed headphones, he shakes his head a little, but if you take enough care to enlarge the bar (very large!) Parfais comfort is the fact that the pressure is evenly distributed because of foams.
It's a little plastic, but in fact it's tough (well I'm not sitting on me).
Atria pivot which allows the stored flat (very thin) in its pretty cover and the house very easily in a backpack.
The cable disconnects and locks on the left ear. You can insert a mini cable with volume control that works very well.
Question running, I'm still very torn on the subject: it is certain that I had the sense of an evolution of sound for the first few days, but I could not say whether it comes from running the headphone ... or my ears. Changing headphone challenges all automatic compensations that our brain puts in place to compensate for the shortcomings of a headphone. It takes some time to change. That is why I am wary of comparisons headphones ... This is another topic.
Regarding the sound, it is interesting to compare the impressions of my different headphones listening to classical music and in comparison to the standard that is the direct listening to recorded musicians.
First the defects of my old headphones:
- The 7506: this very aggressive in the upper midrange / treble, no lower midrange. At the time I attributed my trouble getting sound realistic to my violin pickups. That was the headphone that had incriminate.
- The DT770 (80o) where there was medium ... and serious ... and acute, but curiously instruments with a rich texture in the upper midrange and treble were very distorted. The grave was intrusive. This last point is much less sensitive to the 250o release.
The M50 has only accentuates defects DT770: Severe ubiquitous, low very flattering medium (eg cello), this very sharp ... but upper midrange absent. The harpsichord was unrecognizable. The vagueness of the headphone (also quite nice listening) in the upper medium was rendered unusable to make serious judgments.
My judgment on the DT770 and M50 is based on one year of intensive practice of each, and much more for Sony.
Now 8400.
The grip KRK headphones to replace some extent in monitor speakers did fly. I decided after listening to these tests
http://www.sonicsense.com/blog/closed-back-headphones/closed-back-headphones-comparison
that we can discuss the validity, but showed that even when the headphone came closest to the original was the KRK, especially in the upper midrange.
I have not been disappointed. The main characteristic sound that caught my ear was that for the first time I did not have these acute exaggerated at the expense of upper midrange and distorted as all the instruments that I love. Harpsichord found a very realistic texture, I find the "normal" presence of all the instruments of the orchestra.
Serious side, there ... when and as it should. An acoustic bass sounds beautifully realistic.
All music styles seem very realistic. Jazz is a real pleasure.See less140 - Korneo
Excellent!
Published on 02/02/13 at 11:02I've been using them actively for two months and, after having tried out lots of headphones, including some really expensive ones, these ones really stand out.
Their frequency response is really flat, although the previous reviewer said they sound bright.
It's true in the beginning, before breaking them in, but after 24 hours they sound really good and have a divine precision in the lows.
I'm rediscovering songs with details I had never heard before.
A simple example, I had never noticed that in "Like Fire" from Bloodbath, there's voice shouting "Like Fire" in the background throughout most of the song.

But you can hear that clearly with this headphones. I have tested other headphones and listening systems but haver never heard this effect.
It goes to show the quality of these headphones.
They certainly have the same spirit as the KRK speakers, which is great.
They are perfectly isolated and feel really comfortable on the ears.
The only thing I would criticize about these headphones are the two small pads on the head. They make my head hurt after several hours.
So I put on a cap and the problem is gone.
I strongly recommend them.
TRULY unbeatable value for money.See less00 - Anonymous
Not bad
Published on 10/13/12 at 12:40I've been using them for nearly a year.
I used to use cheap headphones before (about 30 bucks).
Pros: Solid cans and they come with a bag (which is useful to protect them).
You can decrease the headphones' sound level
Cons: Overall, they sound pretty sharp, but you get used to it
Good value for money.00
