Expander-format desktop, analog modeling
-6 Outputs
-256 Programs, 128 performances
-16 Voice polyphony. 6 voice multitimbral
-Arpeggiator
Audio-
-Vocoder
construction is very serious, however small it may be, the vehicle weighs.
since the time he left (1999), the features are excellent, and even today.
To remove a point in quibbling: outputs 5 and 6 are combined in a mini jack that doubles as a headphone output.
UTILIZATION
-Edit and create patches is very easy thanks to the many switches and pots. Some parameters are accessible via menu but everything is very fast and fluid.
-The screen is ample and the indications on this are never cryptic (can not be said about the A-station for example).
-The manual is simple and takes even beginners by the hand by explaining the principles of subtractive synthesis.
To remove a point in quibbling: Each press of a switch makes a little beep (internal device, not in the output of course!). I have not found how to disable this annoying beep that can around you if you use it at home.
SOUNDS
-Produced sounds are particularly well suited to electronic music (Ben. .. it's a synth, normal).
It has 3 osc with various waveforms and customizable, a noise generator, three envelopes, filters and many handsets (hpf + lpf, bpf bpf +, etc. ...), 2 LFOs, programmable arpeggiator and go -go, a very flexible modulation matrix, etc ... short, a lot of possibilities, it is very complete.
Everything is synchronized to a clock noon: LFOs, arpeggiator course, the delays, etc..
Another interesting mode multitimbral, each part has its effects 7 totally independent from other parties. That's still 6 * 7 = 42 synth effects on this ... enough to make very large sound.
To remove a point quibble: the reverberations are actually averages. Nonetheless they are enough for me in most cases.
The sounds are excellent and can be very detailed if desired. As often in the synths, you either love or not love ... must listen to get an idea of the match between needs and material (see discussion clavia vs. novation).
About the so-called digital clicks: This is a side effect of the instability of an external MIDI clock synchronization associated with it to delay the effect of nova. The delay follows the clock midday and click because its value is constantly changing. This problem is not unique to Nova, it would have the same concerns with most synths offering to synchronize the delay by noon.
2 solutions for this:
-Provide a stable MIDI Clock (MIDI clock problems are frequently unstable, despite the power of our modern sequencers, see the topic it against: )
-Use the internal clock for time nova.
OVERALL OPINION
An excellent multitimbral synth. I bought it because I regret a little my A-station and since I used a lot vsti its equivalent. Here it is good to have my cpu nova.
to € 500 in time, what a bargain.
