Overall, this is good and is part Qrack synths upscale (for a small price used)

The -:

- The configuration panel Parmet editing sounds in Multi Mode 4 and then 4 stereo sounds (or 8mono). or there are six separate outputs. It's not bad but it does not simplify use, so I rarely use more than 3 stereo sounds at the same time. Eight separate outputs have been better. (See more ADAT duo, the icing on the cake!)
- 16 channels polyphonic in the standard version is a bit limited if you do not have other synth in his studio.
- 4 buttons keeping notes (hold) + in the screen below would not have been too much. You can always go through the arp or make a special sequence but in reality, it does not ...
- A function recall any sounds in multi mode. Live for use, it would have been wiser. Skip the shift is sucks.

UTILIZATION

It's very spontaneous qd we know the machine. Given the number of knobs and buttons, we will quickly sketch a new patch without going into a technical process that makes you lose all creativity. The screen is enough but if it is not a recent Touch!

The filter section is thanks to its extra modulation possibilities available directly on the panel. we can do is cross-between Filter 1 and 2 with an LFO that plays on panoramique.Et why not use an envelope so that the LFO modulates the pano does not equally etc etc etc. On the atmospheric type or pad, it becomes magical.

The sequencer 32 is not great and can record the keyboard without taking the head too. You can then edit each step by countless possibility that a connection to the patches section modulation ... hours experimentation to move!
Navigation flexible enough banks who register sequences with multiplayer mode and not with the program. this allows to upload a new one with "program change" while keeping the sound current.

In short, one could write much more but it is for everyone to make use of its propore Waldorf Q.

SOUNDS

Perfect for the DeepTechno. I used to pads, sequences and FX. The sound is full, rich, broad and alive.

OVERALL OPINION

This is a synth where you can master the design of a sound and also get lost in a world of sound wonderful, at least for me who am looking for originality!

Over the years, I came to connect the MIDI Waldorf syncro only with Ableton (which incidentally is not the most reliable for that ...) I prefer to make my internal sequences, see qq record automation in + but that's all.

It has a prominent place alongside names like the Neuron, the fizmo or the Prophet08.

Given the price occas, do not be shy!

UTILIZATION

To change the sounds can not be simpler, the 40 pots and 20 buttons facilitate things greatly.
But to go further, it is not so simple, the matrices are modulations galre change, the same as step sequencer. Short, simple at first but you have to work APRS manual.

SOUNDS

I have read many positive reviews on the single grain of the Waldorf Q, its presence, the heavy sound that it sounds so vintage.
Wrong.
The sound of metal Q is trs, trs industrial techno. Whatever we do we get not get a JV with water.
As against it is true that in the kind Beaubourg, pure techno, hard trance, there are good sounds. Some ground scalable clenched Leads vangeurs, bass electro destroy enough.
The sound is always a little scrap metal, grimaant, it does not feel like a vintage synths on the West Coast looking at the girls to the beach.
It sounds like a German and a good yellow tin can.

Personally I think this synth is perfect to contrast with plugins for example. Good techno is made of his original and different. The sound of Q is unique as its amazing name ... LOL

A tip, if you just want the sound, buy a Micro Q and editor of SoundTower. For 300 EUR you will have the sound and possibilities of the Waldorf Micro Q are the same (by a polyphony).

OVERALL OPINION

This is a good synth that I pay 600 EUR so I'm out not so bad. For the price worth it. I sold to buy one because it sounds same as Q and that costs 2 times less ...
The metallic sound may be useful, its coldness and its rigor has its place in a studio diversification.
But this is not the kind of machine be the center of a setup. But strangely I buy and sell full of synthesizers, but in my setup I keep a microphone for the Q's ... So have Russian Waldorf print their claws in my studio.

Bags of features. Polyphony is enough for me. Sound is basicly same but Q has more DSP-power. There is 3 oscs (max. 5oscs using ALT), 3 LFO's, tons of filters etc. Oscillators sound great and different and you can easily make fat bass sound. You can go grazy with FM (I use a lot), filters and sync-stuff. Effects are good and I find reverb and tempo-delay very useful. There is no huge effected sounds like in Virus and older Novations which I don't like. Easy to ruin your mix. Features 10 points, I wouldn't ask for more.

UTILIZATION

Years ago I used couple of Micro Q's and I had to get Q because the better interface. I use it in every song. It's so easy to edit. MS2000 and Novation (Super)Nova is in same category but far more limited (great synths tho). Of course Roland JP-80x0 is king of all interfaces.. So interface is great: 9 points.

Metal construction, durable knobs and buttons. Very well made. 10p

SOUNDS

Great quality, very musical sounding. Pads are awesome but I use many other sounds too. Lead-sounds are only category I don't find it great for my tastes. I love it over Access Virus C-series which is better for trance IMHO. I'm happy to own both tough. But Q will never leave the studio.. clear 10 points.

OVERALL OPINION

I love it over my other equipment... with Studio Electronics ATC-1. It has made right things to my music and inspiration. And it's nice yellow above orange Microwave XT.
