need help with cool edit 2.1 buffering

when i play certain beats in cool edit it skips like or when i record multi tracks playing them together it skips i think its the buffering im not sure ...by the way when i play it in cakewalk it does it too alittle..im using windows xp if that helps ...please help me thanks
