Im chris and im new to this site, but have been recording for about 2 years using cubase.
currently, im running it through a soundblaster X-Fi24bit extreme music card, and am using these effects and amplification:
Epiphone les paul custom w/ gold hardware
Marshall JCM900 w/ 2x12 celestion speaker cab
Boss ME-50, CS-3, MD-2, DD-3, OC-3, TU-2, PW-10 and GE-7.
I find that the Me-50 has a nice output signal for guitar through the line out for direct recording. The tone on the clean sound with some reverb on it is superb. However, the distortion can be slightly harsh or muddy, so i compress and EQ it to hull and back.
I record drums using a roland td 6k or alternatively, cheapo free sequencer plugin, hammerhead rhythm station!
I also own a microkorg and a squire jazz bass with a 200w torque bass amp.
