I've been playing music for more than ten years. I used to play keyboards in a band and guitar as an acoustic performer. I now play bass with a guitarist on midi sequences and drums (occusionally : I don't remember the last time I met a drm set...)
I'm a particularly interested in MIDI format. That's why I've choosen Cakewalk Sonar as my main tool. Cakewalk products now offer tools that have become as performant as Cubase ones (specially the new Sonar 3 is VST compatible) with a very performant interface.
My audio card is a Sound blaster Audigy. I'm very satisfyed of this card that offers the basical functions I was looking for : 24bits 96 Khz with MIC IN, SP/DIF connectors. My last one was the famous Guillemot ISIS....
Everything has changed since I decided to replace my AMD processor by Intel P4 that is much more stable.
The other components I use are :
- behringer bass Vamp Pro : a bass/guitar/keybords amplifier simulator (sounds are better than POD and 4 times less expensive)
- Roland XV5050 : the last produced Roland affordable expander with a numerical output.
- bass Cort Artisan
- Guitar Seagull S6+CW
I'm interested in other home studio configurations. Could you please describe yours so we may be able to exchange on materials an technics.
Thankx !
