« A great TV! »
Published on 11/01/12 at 07:45This is a guitar made from 100% in Fullerton California USA, that tells you something right? The birthplace of Fender! Alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, you can also have a maple fingerboard. Telecaster bridge with 6 brass saddles, it is better for a more precise adjustment. A handle 22 frets medium jumbo, with a radius of 12 "C shape, mine a natural finish (clear satin) a very soft, a real bone nut, Sperzel mechanics, classical but quality. Side microphones is more original because this is a magnetic field in overwound handle and a magnetic field in classic easel. This is ceramic magnet pickups with a higher output level, but still retain the télécaster character.
UTILIZATION
I would grip ideal for this guitar, the neck "standard" # 1 is a near-perfect ergonomics, it falls under the fingers, you feel immediately at home, plus the frets are well polished and planif the nickel is thank you to the "plek machine". For the body shape is a Telecaster to detail, rounded corners on a Fender while they are prominent, if not in size and weight is exactly the same, I compared with a TV friend . There may be differences in weight depending on the density of alder!
SOUNDS
Question sounds, the type found on TV with more character I think, and yes the pickups are unique! I play in a rock band, blues, this guitar is a cut out for the music, the neck pickup is very thick and can become hoarse for a good blues, intermediate position it becomes singing and funky and the bridge pickup is good sharp as a Fender Tele. Important point, the volume and tone knobs are very, very accurate, but then progressive, there is the pleasure of playing with the volume of his guitar without losing treble. I plug my ASAT in a Laney Lionheart head + 2x12 cabinet, it is a very versatile amp that goes from jazz to rock, the perfect companion for guitar. Its light is warm and defined, but where is this guitar surprised saturated, it does not bleed, it is rock without being aggressive.
OVERALL OPINION
When we turn to a G & L, you should know that it is virtually impossible to find a store to try it, I'm talking about U.S. models not Tribute made in Asia. Be patient, commissioned in May, mine arrived mid-September. The concept G & L custom-shop approach, as all options are on some free, shades, keys to the handle, and other pay. You can choose a V neck with vintage radius, thinner, wider, maple "birds eyes" of mechanical blocking binding of the body or neck, I'll stop there, the list is too long. The quality is really at the top, not a fault. For the price, it is in the middle of this range of guitars. For example in the fender model that approximates the ASAT classic custom is the TV "hotrod" with a mini seymour duncan in the heats, it is 300 to 400 € more expensive than the G & L. I'm already thinking about buying a S500 at G & L ASAT as appeals to me. For me one of the best TV on the market and I weigh my words ...
