MGR/Kramer Arbogast
« Squier Affinity Series Telecaster »
Published on 09/23/03 at 15:00I purchased my Telecaster at Link's Music Store in Hanau, Germany. I got a great deal on it. I paid 178 Euros, which with the exchange rate made it $211.00. But he also accepts a VAT form. So it ended up being about $180.00. I bought it because I always wanted a Telecaster. I am just a hobby player and don't really feel like you need a $1000.00+ guitar to have fun and sound good. Fenders are Great! But if your a hobby player like myself you may want to stick to the Squier models. They are also great guitars.
It looks GREAT! And sounds incredible. I play mine through a Squire Amp I got with a Strat Pack. It was already set up and ready to play when I got it. Intonation, String height, and even tuned. I love it. I got it in Blonde. A traditional Telecaster color. It is definitely a keeper.
If I have to pick something I don't like I would have to say the Pickguard. It looks like it is a three piece. But you have to look very hard to see it.
As with my Squier Strat the construction and quality of my Squier Telecaster is incredible for any price range. I have owned and played guitars that cost over $700.00 and I think I like the way my Squiers play better than them all. Expensive guitars have their place. They are for musicians who make a living with their instruments. If you are looking to make a career with your music save up and buy an original. But if your best audience is yourself and your friends and family, you can't go wrong with a Squier.
The bottom line is whether you are just starting or have been playing for years a Squier is a great place to find your love for music. At such a great price I plan to expand my collection of Squiers with a Fat Strat or a Showmaster.
