Silver face Twin Reverb 1974 and bought by Rvis retub occasion.
Very powerful 100 watts true but I did tweaker (adding a toggle switch Surle rear panel) to use only half of Afgha of his power, ample in rpet or gig.
2 coming in, efftes reverb and tremolo actuated from a crankset.

USE

A manual? what a joke!
The sound is superb, no need to tamper with rglages long to notice.
For cons, I find that the best results are obtained by the master background, much like the bypass.
The boost, pulling the master button provides extra presence and aggressivit.
Tone of the rglages are super effective when we put them all zero, no sound is heard!
The switch that reduces the output power allows me to get a good grain without the volume is too powerful.
Directly or with my pedal board (8 pedals) the sound is excellent.
overall sonority may vary embarqus HP: eg JBL sound more aggressive than Fender (Rola) that quipent my model.

I use it for almost 25 years with original tubes.
I tried a lot of models and transistor tubes, vintage and modern, the Twin Reverb remains incomparable and indmodable.
Extrmememt solid construction, mine is fallen several times without damage.

I have known and had many others before combos, as the worst stews MG100DFX, means blah kind Valvestate, of quite a peavey at Studio15 and Marshall, but also good as the Vox AC30 or Laney VC100 .
if it again? can be supersonic or Prosonic would make me hesitate, but I did not try enough to be on. in any case, I do not regret buying my Twin, it was my best amp, I was able to pay at age 32, ze big reward with cachetons saved.
I would recommend this amp to that of ambition in terms of musical panel, a need for power and a strong back, for whom this will be a reliable basis for years, and lose some (not see) if he resells. or those who need a reliable and attractive backline to get performers on stage or in the studio that will simply take their pedalboard to find their sound.

SOUNDS

Fender sound. Clear. High light and high volume. This is not an amp that goes into distortion.
on the other hand, high volume ... beautiful dynamic crunch to die for (arrived at 8, 9 or 10). EXCEPT that it is unmanageable bar ... I have not done a concert (unless one actually) where I played more than 2 (the amp being taken).
For recording against, you can have fun.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had 3-4 years.
I had a blues junior (not at all the same destination).
I tried the 40 W (blues-I-don't-know-what-more), the Peavy 30 watt lamps also, VOX (AC 30, AC10TV) ...
... it's all about the sound you want.
To clear the pedals and put the front is perfect.

HOWEVER!
weight (I had to buy a flightcase).
and too powerful. Even in concert, as the amp is taken, not need as much.

The Fender Twin Reverb '65 reissue is Fender's modern take on the amp that defined a sound. For many years the Twin Reverb was THE amp to get if you wanted loud and powerful clean tones in a real deal package. The sucker was heavy and loud, but if you wanted that punchy and clear clean tone that could cut through class at a mile a note, the Twin Reverb was your amp. Through the years it has evolved a bit as time goes on, and eventually Fender decided to reissue the model that many consider the "golden" era for these amps, which was the mid sixties blackface model. This amp puts out a whopping 85 watts of clean power and features two channels. The normal channel has two inputs and has volume, treble, middle, and bass controls as well as a bright switch. The vibrato channel has the same controls, but adds on reverb, and speed and intensity controls for vibrato. It's loaded with 2 Jensen speakers and weighs in at about 65 pounds.

UTILIZATION

Getting a good sound out of this amp can be easy or difficult depending on where it is you are playing. Being that's a loud and clean 85 watts, it's not an amp I would suggest buying for the bedroom or a tiny basement/jamroom. It needs a bit of volume to get that natural tube compression happening in full force. That's really the kicker with these amps... they do require a bit of volume to sound their best. That being said, with the right volume level/room this amp is very easy to dial in. The tonestack reacts like a typical Fender... sometimes it can seem like the controls aren't doing a whole lot, but that seems to be normal for these amps. Either way, it sounds good!

SOUNDS

As far as this amp goes, it's definitely one of the premier clean amps on the market. Fender really got it right in 1965, and fortunately they managed to preserve that integrity for the most part on the original amp. I really like using this one for country or blues tones. It has a certain gutsy quality and sparkle that works well for either of those styles. It's only a clean amp... unless you are playing Shea Stadium you aren't getting this thing to even come close to true distortion, and if it's anything like the master volume silverface models... it doesn't really distort all that much anyway. That being said they do sound good with pedals in front of them, so you could put your favourite drive in front and watch the notes fly. In short, it's a great sounding clear Fender amp that accurately recreates that sparkly and jangly, yet very full bodied clean sound of the '60s and through to today. Not to mention that waterfall of clear Fender reverb that is truly the best in the business.

OVERALL OPINION

All in all I think the Fender '65 Twin Reverb is a pretty fantastic sounding amp. Yes, it needs to be turned up, and yes, it's not nearly as portable as some others out there. However, yes it does sound amazing. At about $1,500 new it's priced comparatively with Dr. Z and other similar amps, but you're still getting great value for money. In short, if you're looking for a high wattage and truly glorious sounding amp that covers all your needs for a loud clean tone, you cannot go wrong with a Twin Reverb!

The legend! All Tube amp indeed! Beware of models anyway. Pre CBS and period after the acquisition of Fender from CBS ... Qoiqu'il Regardless, the model Blackface reissues are excellent.
It's a combo 85watts (Twin reverb 65) into 4 Ohms, but the power is at an appointment and it easily exceeds other amplifiers of the same power. This amp is geared towards playing country, blues, rock, jazz. for lovers of hardcore or metal, go your way. The ideal configuration is a Telecaster or a stratovolcano, a few effects pedals (distortion, overdrive ...) and there were a package perfect for attack scenes. it also works with Gibson, you worry. In short, it's very upscale and it's better to be pro musician to make the most given the price of the machine.

OVERALL OPINION

I had a reverb Ywin (period 70) years ago. I sold it because when you do not play on stage, it is useless to have one in my opinion, unless you are a collector. In addition, to cushion the maintenance of this type of amplifier, we must make a living. Indeed, the tube amp is the biggest problem to wear if one is (obviously), but cahnger lamps is not an easy task. It must indeed they are matched pairs. In addition, the manufacturer of lamps are few and only the countries of the east and the Chinese still make. This amp needs to warm up before and been successful it must ramp up to draw the quintessence. It is fragile because the transport lamps do not like to be shaken, so a gig bag is a must. All in all a top model with all its advantages and disadvantages (the stars have some quirks!). I recommend for my part in pro musician who like clean sounds or crunches and running enough to absorb its upkeep maintenance. Other than that, with the Twin, your guitar will not need anything else (a good pair of pedals aside) to sound and to appreciate your wonderful words of play it again if I if I bought a professional musician since 1600 Euros (about), pa is within the reach of all the grants and it takes a change lamps every 5 to 10 years depending on whether we play a lot or not (a change of lamps must be done by a specialist, especially for power tubes, and we at approximately 300 to 400 Euros). So we must think about Advent to engage in the purchase ...

UTILIZATION

Amp extremely simple to use: you plug and it works. All settings are eminently instinctive ... it sounds live!
Hand side, then, apart from the pattern usually provided and the various warnings, everything fits on two pages.

SOUNDS

This amp has a clean sound very precise, very pure: still happy, as it does not saturation!
I play rock (a bit of everything from QOTSA to Interpol) on a standard telecaster and I therefore requires a pedal (a Boss ME50): I am a happy man.
The definition of sound (and the big potato) of the beast so you can normally get your sound very easily as long as your pedals is good and correct your settings. Really nothing to complain about the sound.
Ah yes: Bass settings / middle / trebble are very effective. I really like.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this amp for a little over a year now: I used both in rehearsal 'in concert. Of course, it would expect the use of the beast: it's really not the amp to work at home.
When I bought it (1600 €), I was looking for an amp with enough power and personality: I was told the 65 twin, but I did not necessarily try it as I was considering at that time rather to turn to a Marshall amp or one with a nice colorful crunch. That said, the quality of its extreme power and almost immediately my seduced (I still hesitate with a vintage amp tried earlier) knowing that I could easily get a good distorted sounds with my multi-effects.

The drawbacks of this amp anyway:
- Weight: 29kg! It's heavy ....
- The footswitch: a word of advice: if you find that your reverb is a bit bruiteuse, check the connection of footswitch (the cache of the pedal comes off very easily). I had a noise problem caused by a weld a little disappointing for Fender ...

A note: I do not really see the usefulness of the canal "normal" ... Anyway here it is anyway ...

So yes, I would buy this amp if it again! Satisfaction! Finally I will put 9 for weight and hit the footswitch ...

Amp very typical (if any that are not) clear sound crystal-clear to be impressive and dynamic. Obviously we must raise the volume to enjoy it. I use a gibson nighthawk with a preamp and V-Twin mess (mainly for distortion). For jazz is just a bit brighter compared to the sound of muffled rigor but I like that sound. For the blues, blues / rock is just awesome (clear / overdrive / distortion). For reggea / dub, casseroles hell + reverb very / too deep. For metal, not to use the V-Twin ...
For more experimental music, the definition of sound is, I think, well suited

OVERALL OPINION

I bought 6 years ago ocaz 750 euros. It took me two years to choose my amp. I arpanté pigalle and the province. I broke too late for a groovetube (no longer produced). I enjoyed the classic pevey 30 W. But I preferred the clarity of his sound ...

The Fender twin reverb is a classic sounding amplifier is one of the most successful amplifiers offender has ever produced. Is a classic sound with its 212 inch speakers into channels one for the reverb tremolo channel and one for the normal channel. This is 85 W amplifier in with its clean town can get very loud and punchy. It is a great low game or no gain it all amplifier that takes various effect petals and distortion or overdrive petals very well.

This amplifier is limited on its features and mobility. It has a simple selection of EQ ring of base trouble and and volume you are missing the middle and presents that you would see on a Marshall amplifier's or many other amplifiers. This is a great amplifier for dialing in a good bluesy classic rock town.

SOUNDS

The tone of this guitar is very addictive and extremely usable. When you put a distortion pedal in front of it with maybe some delays or course you can get a great bluesy rock tone. This tone sounds phenomenal when coupled with a Fender Stratocaster guitar or even a Fender telecaster guitar. I'm not a big fan on this guitar with a mahogany wood by body guitar as much as I am with an older wood or a ash wood guitar. It allows the guitar if it's a brighter or medium warmth guitar to really bring out the no separation in clarity. Much better than a mahogany wood guitar can do in my opinion or to my ears. I find it a Fender guitar sounds the best through this amplifier and should be since they voiced both instruments to each other. I pretty much use this amplifier with a overdrive pedal or eight and or a delay pedal of some sort. It has a great singing sustain and a very pure tone.

OVERALL OPINION


I highly recommend this guitar amplifier to anyone is looking for one of the best sounding cleaning up the fires with a touch or reverb that you can ever get. It has a fantastic sound and it's extremely easy to play in antlers very forgiving in my opinion. You can find these amplifiers on the used market for right around $800 and sometimes even less than that. I have seen this guitar amp in the classifieds or the used section in places for right around $600 in this market. So these get guitar amps are very easy to find and when they were originally produce they were highly saturated in the market. So they're very easy to find and you can get them at a great price even for very old ones. So if you need a good classic sounding clean amplifier that takes petals very well and have a great set tone and feel and look no further than this amplifier right here.

Anyone who has ever spent any time playing the electric guitar has most likely plugged into one of these amps or has even owned one. This is one of the most classic amplifiers that this world has ever known and for so many guitar players, it has been there go to amp of choice.

SOUNDS

This amp is such a joy to play. Such a clean chimey tone that leaves such an impression on you that you crave the guitar even more. It has two channels and no one of them isn't a dirty channel. The second channel is for the vibrato or tremelo sounds. So you'll get that wavy sound from the speakers. Just listen to the some from Creadence Clearwater Revival called The Midnight Special. In the opening is basically this sound. Not sure if they used this amp...most likely they did because it is very clean and chimey.

OVERALL OPINION

This amp is a bit on the high side for combo in my opinion. At new these amps come in at around $1400. You can actually pick one up from the 60's or 70's for about half that price. If you want a new unplayed one then this is your ticket.

I would recommend this amp to an guitar player who likes collection gear or love the tone of the Fender clean amp. This is a staple in any guitar player's arsenal.

The Fender Blackface Twin Reverb '65 is the most highly regarded guitar amplifier in the Twin Reverb line.  Up until a certain year, Fender made these amps with a black face and without a master volume knob, and this distinguishes the amp from the later silver face models of the amp.  Beyond this however, it is quite similar in make up to the later models of the Twin Reverb.  The amp has two channels - one without effects and one with spring reverb and tremolo.  Each of the channels has two 1/4 inch connections for inputs.

UTILIZATION

The make up of the Fender Blackface Twin Reverb '65 isn't all that hard to follow.  The first channel has parameters for volume, bass, mid, and treble, as well as a bright switch.  The second channel has the same parameters as well as those to control the effects for reverb, tremolo intensity, and speed.  This amp has a great inherent tone, so when you have the settings in middle or so, you can usually get a pretty great sound right off the bat.  I've never needed to look at a manual for the Blackface Twin.


SOUNDS

I have used the Fender Blackface Twin Reverb '65 for recording with a Fender Strat and a Jazzmaster, and within this configuration I'm able to get some pretty incredible sounds.  I also used the amp with overdrive effects like a Tube Screamer and Klon Centaur, as well as a slew of other effects.  I can't say enough about the mix of warmth and clarity that this amp has to offer.  It is the perfect amp for getting a clean sound, and can even get some overdrive without a pedal when you turn the amp up a bit.  The Twin Reverb is one of my favorite amps in general, and the Blackface '65 is the holy grail of Twins...


OVERALL OPINION

While there is a reissue version of the Fender Blackface Twin Reverb '65 that comes pretty close, there is nothing like the original.  These are the most expensive Twins out there, but they sound better than any of them as well.  If you're in the market for a great amp, or know what a Twin can do and what the best that they have to offer, without a doubt you need to try the Fender Blackface Twin Reverb.

You get 4 instrument inputs on the front, 2 for the "Normal" side (without vibrato and reverb) and 2 on the "Vibrato" side (with vibrato and reverb). I recommend plugging only one instrument at a time though, it definitely changes the tone when you plug more than one instrument in, it must be the power being split up. On the back there is the speaker output for the combo's own speakers, an output for an external speaker setup (I have not tried that yet) and a foot pedal input used to turn the vibrato and reverb on and off (foot pedal is included and has an vintage look to it, very cool.)

As for settings you get a 3 band equalizer in the form of three knobs (high, mid, low) for each side (Normal/Vibrato). You also get individual volumes for both sides and a "bright" switch that thins out the sound a little (I never use it, it usually creates a lot more hiss when toggled). On the Vibrato side you also get knobs that control the Reverb level, Vibrato speed and the Vibrato intensity.

UTILIZATION

Anyone who has ever used an electric guitar amp should have no trouble setting this thing up. The fact that this is a great sounding amp and that there is only a 3 band equalizer and two effects, it is very easy to get a great sound. I use it for a Fender Rhodes piano and a Parker Nitefly guitar and it sounds amazing every time. I purchased mine used and did not receive a manual with it. I can't imagine anything in the manual other than specs and tube charts that could be useful. You can find all you need to know on the internet these days anyways.

SOUNDS

Does is suit my style of music? Like a velvet glove! I love this amp, its so versatile. Like I said earlier, I use it for a Rhodes and a Parker Guitar, but I also have been none to use it with synths, Organs, and a mandolin and everyone of them sounded great. The Spring reverb that is built in is one of the best I have ever heard. I have a friend who does a looping show with multiple instruments and he treats His Twin as a PA speaker and runs everything through it. He says that he will never use a different amp to do this because nothings sounds as good to him in comparison. I think overall I prefer a good heavier, warm tone and this amp definitely provides me that. It can also be very clear/bright too, but thats not my usual preference. Like I mentioned earlier, I never use the bright switches. It just sounds too thin to me.

OVERALL OPINION

I have had this amp for around 5 years and have used it religiously. The best thing about this amp is the fact that it sounds great no matter what I plug into it, and I mean GREAT! What I don't like I guess would have to be how heavy it is, but that has no real bearing, I would use it if it weighed as much as my Rhodes. I own an older Peavey guitar amp with reverb and also tried a Fender Deville amp as well as various studio amps. The old peavey was actually not to far from the Twin's Quality sound but the Deville falls short in my opinion.
These things are at least a $1000 brand new and go for around $700 used in good condition....but I got mine for $400 bucks and it was in great condition. So...that is an amazing value. But if I were to buy one brand new, I would still feel pretty good about it.
I hope I never lose this amp, but if I did, I would start saving for another right away.
