2 spring reverb tank made in Japan (short: 9 ½ "gauge similar to the Accutronics Type 1)
Controls Volume, Tone, Reverb Tremolo (Rate)
two footswitch jack for reverb and tremolo (on / off)
housing surdimmentionné 20 "x30 ½ x9 ½ (length / height / depth) of just over 50 pounds.
You can not ask him what it was not designed! buying knowingly, and therefore, these features are perfect, what a knob for "Tremolo Depth" would have been welcome. So I put 9/10.
Amp very simple very easy to use. No master volume here so it's like the old, if you want distortion, there's no choice, must turn up the volume! And having said that, on paper 7 Watts may seem small but they get a very loud volume! Quite comparable to my home YBA2 traynor which nevertheless 20Watt lamp!
Gain "Breackup" about 60% of its stroke.
if you intend to use it in an apartment, be sure to push it and instead provide a pedal or use with an attenuator. It could save you a divorce or a tense situation in the neighborhood!
In REPET it is quite possible to use it as a group (If you are not one to repeat too much), for recording studio is perfect though!
This is a small black dot as it is a little bastard a power: too great for an apartment but limited for use in groups. For studio recording and is nickel-cons!
Another more black this is the amp reverb which is difficult to measure by its very average. We'll talk!
Otherwise the box is huge! You can store them without any problem son and pedals.
So here it sounds vintage! Sounds very fat and warm. the tone knob for the tremolo is great and is just as perfect.
The reverb on it is very average.
The speaker 12 "original (Marsland or RSC (Radio Speaker of Canada)) is also very average.
This is an amp you should find for cheap and worth buying. Certes, it has some negative but the best is that they are easily correctable!
These are the changes I made to mine:
-Installing a plug-strand 3 (with Ground)
-Changing the capacitors out of date (Filter Caps) and complete inspection
-Changing lamps for Mesa Boogie
-Changing the speaker for a Celestion G12M Greenback 8ohm (note well the impedance if you change HP)
-Changing the Reverb for USA 8AB2C1E Accutronics three spring (also note this number if you think the change! If you want to keep a two spring reverb used 1AB2C1E)
After all this (with + / - $ 300 Canadian) you end up with a perfect amp! Garnet manufactured really good product! Also note that since the circuit is point by point, this amp is very easy to modify!
I dare not change it because I want to keep the original (amplifier side) but it would be simple to add an effects loop, a master volume, to add switches to increase the gain, an attenuator and more.
In this sense I highly recommend you get the book of Garnet "The how and why of tube amps as" Gar "Sees it". This book includes all the scheme Garnet (including garnet amp manufactured by and sold under another name such as mine) Over 100 scheme, an explanation of each parts of a tube amplifier, a number of changes to scheme ( like the ones I listed above) and many tips.
it's pretty expensive but worth the cost plenty! Whether to learn or have several ideas for changes. It also reflects the principle of different Fender / Vox / Mesa boogie Matshall / Hiwatt and others (Especially the design of preamps and "Tone Control System" (Design of the EQ / tone knob of)
also various designs of methods for the overdrive / distortion / fuzz.
In short, I highly recommend you get this book even if you do not yet have Garnet amp! You can do so from the site of Garnetamps: http://www.garnetamps.com/
Note also that the D15TR is known by other names and other numbers are very similar to the same amp. The mine is a GW15TR Raven (sold under that name) but you can find D15TR/Reverb-mate 15TR or other marks (Stenci) such concord / Granada / harmony / Mann / supreme / Vagabond and many more!
