Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 1x10 Combo

Same amp as the regular Express with just a smaller speaker. Your tone will be a bit different since the speaker circumference will change but unless you A/B them you woulnd't know.

I wish I could work over at Mesa and just play there collection of amps on a daily basis. They have so many wonderful amplifiers to choose from it actually can get a little complicated to pick one.This amplifier is one of the easiest pieces of gear to ever control. It is two channels that has two modes per channel. Which actually makes it a four channel amp because you can switch from them easily with the footswitch.

Another cool feature is the Contour control which acts like a V formation like you would see on the Mark series amps. As you turn is to noon you will get that V formation and dial in an out the highs and lows and you turn is around.

SOUNDS

The tone is a typical tone you get and we all have know from Mesa. It is a heavily saturated tone that feels nice and warm and room filling. I started with my favorite mode which is the Burn mode on channel two. Here you will get that familiar Recto tone that you get from the Dual, Triple, Roadster, and Road King rectifier amps.

This amp sounds fantastic with a Strat and humbucker style guitar in front of it. Another great option is running the speaker out to a 4x12 or a 2x12 if you want more air pushed through for a bigger gig or a higher power rock band combo

OVERALL OPINION

This is a great amp for someone in a a need for a simple Mesa combo amp who needs a little less power but a few more options than an Electra Dyne amp. You can get all the recto goodness and have a good clean channel for country or pop music. Plus the addition of a crunch feature gets you a solid classic rock tone if so desired.

At new they come in at around $1250. This is good price considering all the features you get with it. I recommend this amp to any guitar player needing a compact amp with enough features to play in any cover band.

Will see on the Internet. 5W/25W. 2 EL84, 5 12AX7. 2 independent channels including reverb and contour, each with two voicings (Clean / Crunch and Blues / burn). Eminence 8 ohm 50W (E50 = Ramrod). Comes with amp cover and footswitch, and footswitch 3 button (channel, reverb and contour). The outline is a setting of "loudness", adjustable knob. It has everything you need, but in my opinion a button "solo" for the footswitch. This forces you to add a boost pedal.

UTILIZATION

Like any tube amp, does the best after 10 minutes heating. We can make any type of music. A chorus pedal and a boost (every 2 in the loop mandatory. BURN: gain background is santana, fuzz very bold and deep. A small BB preamp before the amp gives a very valuable addition to saturation, and boost in the loop (micro amp or LPB-1) and it is the foot. Attention, digital delay and modulation out badly before the amp. should put them in the loop. It's strange but c ' is. This is the best sound I've ever had. OVERALL OPINION

This great choice. 6 months of use. I think keep it very long. Worth its price (1500 euros). Before I had Vibrolux Fender, Frontman 65, Laney VC15, Line 6 Flextone, Spider. All this is buried very deep.

This is a brand lamps with 2 independent channels with the ability to switch the amp 25w or 5w.

UTILIZATION

configuration is simple, 2 independent channels each with its own reverb and master volume.
general sounds are decent but I've heard better and nicer ...

SOUNDS

personally, it's hard rock well fit-in that makes me tripper; saturated channel mode "burn" is perfect for this.
Otherwise, I do not care and I do not like, I preferred the clear blues of the subway.

OVERALL OPINION

I have tried this afternoon for about 45 minutes.
for the amps I tried look at my other reviews ...
what I liked; saturated channel mode "burn", which in my opinion is far above everything else its issue, the physical aspect of the amp and black very well designed and finished his side practice as a combo.
what I liked least, sounds clear and crunch.
in general, this is not the amp of my dreams, but he approach ...
I think it is well designed and that will buy a good long-term investment ...

It's Mesa, we must take the time to find and try.
Friends of Plug & Play is possible for you but you will lose opportunities sounds great and for the price it is Balot.
There is documentation in English which is made with typical settings. Then you must try.
it is easy to get a good sound but longer having the desired sound.
The effects loop is very basic and I would have liked a mix to mix live and loop. of aillor I do not even know if it exists ....

SOUNDS

I play with a Tele American Deluxe and LP Ephiphone and a lot of pedals (Disto, vibe, flanger, ....) with the Maxon OD808 and full tone deja vibe is great
This amp like Mesa is very dynamic, I admit that this made me a little scared at first. But ultimately it is not dead and the game quickly becomes subtle. A real treat.

Channel clean / crunch is super clear sound wonderful blues a little crunchy and very subtle. The reverb is good but lacks length Vs a blues junior (nothing serious in my eyes)

Channel blues / burn is really good, you can go from blues to light fuzz sound limit. I rarely use
And I burn it to my Fuzz. I think the sound lost its presence in burn and becomes too rough. (In short, I do not use)

With my two guitars I have a huge panel of clarifying its crystalline blues greasy, it's simply a delight to play with the 5:25.

I play at home in 5W, rehearsal when I pass in 25W sound is huge and what a presence! Each time the people who play with me do not come back.

OVERALL OPINION

I wonder this since 6 months and I play more than 10 hours per week on it. After a long investigation (due to budget) amp, I had in mind a BJ after trying at least not 20aine different models (fender, marshall, ..) For me versus the Mesa was inaccessible taken technical and requested.
Then I stumbled upon this occasion. I tried with my Tele 1am and I went with. Finally I should have listened to before listening to others

Now I have no regrets, sound and versatility I like 5:25. even if I doubled my initial budget. good amp but it is not for life?

Only regret:
- Not having tried earlier
- The connector of the pedal which tends to disconnect when I grow big sucks like a bit much cables during storage. a small blocker would have been perfect.
