« a real tube amp »
Published on 05/15/14 at 04:52The Classic 30 is a tube amp (7 = 4 + 3) size combo a fairly reasonable size (less than wholesale Hot Rod), equipped as standard with an HP 12 "Blue Marvel.
The amp delivers 30 watts, which is (very) far enough, whatever your use.
Level there is a middle setting, aspen, bass, and a spring reverb pretty good I think. Then there is a second channel and a boost (but I'll never used)
The features are really simple and effective.
UTILIZATION
Regarding the manual I did not have access but the settings could not be more simple.
Sound:
For my part I find excellent sound. Well defines its clear, we arrive at something very hot when the lamps are well heated.
SOUNDS
This amp is very well suited to my style of music (blues / rock, rock / jazz, jazz / fusion). It supports very well the pedals I use (no big disco, OD and delay, reverb ...) and I use it with a strat '
I get clear sound and well defined, as hot and when I ask a specific OCD above. The sound is not at all greasy, just as it is garish.
Basically I set off with a shudder at 7/10 and a middle 6/10. Low in general 6/10 and a fairly low reverb.
Overall the sound has nothing to envy to other Fender or Vox same category. This amp is a perfect all-tube combo with dimensions that make it easily transportable.
Note a flat anyway, reported by many users: the lamps have a bad tendency to vibrate, and it is extremely unpleasant, especially for the sound. For my part I got the foam of a Harley Benton G212 Vintage I placed on a tray on wheels, on which I put the amp. It made me partly mitigated these vibrations.
OVERALL OPINION
The quality / price is really great for the price of the occasion. The price of new I do not know. I also try the new version and it is substantially the same as I have.
I remake this choice without hesitation at the price of Cygnus'
