The new VT16 micro head takes the features of the Vintage 16 combo, and packages them in a head-only version. The all-tube design incorporates 12AX7 preamp and two EL84 output tubes. The class A/B power amp in its normal “PENTODE” mode puts out 16 watts. The “TRIODE” mode produces 5 watts of “spongy harmonics, ideal for both mic’d recording and small stage rigs, ” according to Carvin.
Bass, mid and treble control range combined with long-tail reverb come with selectable 8 ohm/16 ohm impedance switch, along with silent mode for line-out operation.
Also available are mini-stack versions, the VT16–112 and VT16–212. These mini-stacks feature the VT16 head, combined with the 1 X 12" 112E cabinet, or the 2 X 12" 212E cabinet.
