When it comes to sound, you can choose between distortion and distortion! I first heard the amp at the rehearsal of a death metal band where the guitarist played Orange and Mesa Rectifier amps at the same time. I thought the guy had a good sound because of the Mesa but I decided to do a test at a store. The shop assistant connected to an Orange 4x12" speaker cabinet and then... It blew me away. And don't worry about it sounding too clean for heavy metal, with the EMG pickups of my guitar I have enough gain. I admit that I like old-school distortion ("Kill'em all" and the like) but it sounds great and it's better than that slick and modern distortion sound with no personality. It totally killed me! It produces 60 watts of raw tube power. I use it only for distortion sounds because it was conceived for that and it's a lot of fun at that. If you're looking for a clean tube tone, forget this amp! I lent it to a guy during a concert, he plugged his pedal board into it and the sound was somewhat pathetic.
OVERALL OPINION
I've been using it for over a month and I'm fully satisfied. I play thrash metal and it's a lot of fun, especially on stage. It sounds straight with a good speaker cabinet (I have a home-customized Marshall 4x12" cabinet).
I already owned Mesa/Boogie amps, Marshall heads as well as Randall and Brunetti tops and the sound of this beast blew me away. On the other hand, if you want a versatile amp with Midi implementation and effects loop search elsewhere. I find the quality/price/transportability ratio unbeatable. I don't have sciatica any more, thank you Orange! I would buy it again, twice! I'm sure that all metal bands are using Tiny Terror amps hidden behind their cabinet walls on stage. I give it 9/10 because nothing is perfect in this world, even though this amp head is perfect for me.
