Bad Cat X-Treme Tone

This is bad cat's high gain tube preamp pedal.

2 modes (from the website):

Gain Boost Stage 1: Provides transparent volume matching of the effect IN/OUT to your amplifier's output level, complete interactive tone bass + treble operation with ample clean headroom and generous smooth gain boost.

Gain Boost Stages 1 + 2: Provides additional crunch to the gain boost stage for a dramatic increase and thickening of the overdrive gain. This mode allows independent manipulation of the layered gain stages.

Knobs: Gain, Edge, Level, Bass, Treble, Master.

UTILIZATION

Very simple layout. One strip of control knobs and 3 different colored lights. The EQs are shared even though they tonally sound different from each other. Gain 1 is more like a slight overdrive to mild crunch, while gain 2 is higher gain for rock etc.



SOUNDS

What kind of sounds do you expect? Nothing less than the preamp of a bad cat amplifier!
Pretty much does it justice! Sounds like a brighter marshall without the fuzz and fizz that one would usually get, yet it's thick at the same time, a lot of upper mids I think.

So I wouldn't recommend this for high gain metal players cause it's probably too smooth and too thick, it'd make all the complex chords and riffing unclear and muffled sounding.

But if you like that badcat tone, you'd definitely like this pedal. Very true to its sound and has a very natural sounding distortion!

OVERALL OPINION

Good pedal, a bit heavy and big but it delivers the sounds it says it will. That classic bad cat tone! Plenty of gain to rock out with! Again, probably not tonally tuned for the metal head but plenty of gain on tap to do anything else! Sounds good paired with a tube amp of course. Not sure how it'd sound with a solidstate amp, but probably wouldn't recommend it, might be too bright and you won't get the full experience of this pedal's abilities!

-The Knob to "gain" is only on the "red" channel

-the knob "Edge" is the texture of the sound.
It allows you to go from a soft, velvety crmeux with a sound bite and aggressive

-The Knob "Level" is the gain of the Canal "Orange"
He can switch from clear sound trslgrement crunchy rock orverdrive
He also serves on the Canal "red", the first floor of winning that!

-The Knob "Bass" and "Trebble" are completely intractifs!

The bass bottom and trebble 12 H, the sound reminds um .... I would say a red channel of a certain head, a certain brand ....!

Many body and fluidity and a lot of grain !!
Canal "red" is more compressed than channel "orange" more dynamic and
punchy too!

Gain and combined level, achieves top-level gain !!
Personally, the gain knob at three quard and level 13H, allows a very good compromise between dynamic compression!
Sufficient for any type of Mtal!

I am not a Pod possde many diffrent sounds ..... test!

Tube distortion pedals (2), with two modes: one is in the register crunch / overdrive and distortion second east.
It has an input and output and pedal plugs directly into the area.
2 switches: on / off and mode 1 / mode 2. 3 LEDs (bypass mode 1 mode2). True bypass.
Ct rglages, we have a gain (used in mode 2 only), a rglage edge for the sound bite, a level, a SETTING THE bass and treble and finally the master.
Two CHARACTERISTICS quite impressive: the size of the pedals (it is standard, the bosses seem to toys ct and weight (in box mtal, transformers ,...).
It is not easy to fit on a pedalboard but it's tough.

UTILIZATION

Use only Submitted ease. The trs rglages are sensitive and allow for a wide range of sound. We can spend time refining rglages but overall, I found my sound pretty quickly. The bass and treble can radically change the sound of the pedals, though deaf to the super sharp. What is revle handy for the sound they want regardless of the CHARACTERISTICS of the guitar and amp. The manual is fairly brief, briefly explains the rglages without giving examples (but at the same time, the sound also depends on the guitar and the amp so ...) Small BMOL: it makes a clack to bypass (frquent the true-bypass) but as I use a looper ca does not impede me.

SOUNDS

I bought this for my pedals closer to the sound of the Hot Cat of the same brand and did not test the Hot Cat, I can ensure that it is close but so what it sends ... The sound is a density that I had never heard. I use a fender twin with EMG and a marshall JCM 900 and I got the big sound filled with low-medium I wanted. I use it in my rock band-mtal I am the only guitarist and density makes unnecessary a second guitar to gain potato ... The comparison with the distortion of a Marshall virtual snub to the latter.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several months already. I love his sound, it DGIG potato. The other members of the group forbid me to play something else now So the Exit carl martin heavy drive I had before, which I liked the sound but does not measure up. The price of the pedals is trs expensive (+ 400 euros) but the price for his taste in Bad Cat. In view of the pedals, I can not imagine the need to slap that these amps. Too bad they are so unjustly mconnus and difficult to obtain.
