«  Presonus = very good value for money »

Best value: Excellent
see technical data in info ...

UTILIZATION

The design is clean and simple but as I blame the whole products from Presonus, the knobs are a bit light and it is especially difficult to see the position (white line on blue background ...)
Both tranches are identical but not switched together. The use of this is that there are more basic but complete with meters and backlit buttons: 48V, 20dB pad, phase reverse, low cut filter 80 Hz
There is a gain setting and the amount of light used, it can also completely switch to transistor turning the knob down.
the manual is in English but somehow useless.

SOUND QUALITY

Although we speak of light, do not expect a miracle as preamps with a 0 price more ... but it does its job, it slightly warms the reports. Comparing with XMax transistor Presonus, which are also very good for their range, we gain a little, but not extraordinary.
But beware the lamp usage is limited to it, do not push it because the saturation is not beautiful.

OVERALL OPINION

I use (x2) for 6 years and no malfunction. I admit that now it is my last wheels of the coach that I come when big project where I need to increase my number of entries.
It was my first tube preamp when I started and it has served me well for the home studio. Even if I went to something else, Presonus is a great brand with the best quality price ratio on the market to get started.
In the same situation at the time (and budget requirement) I would do this choice.
