Best value:
Excellent
I think caracterisitques techniques have largely been detailed on the Steinberg website. In the pub after, it was more attractive (very good value quality / price and some assurance of compatibility with Cubase since it is the same company that provides hardware and software).
I bought Cubase E4 and also a brand new PC (P4 3.Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB SATA hard drive).
I intended to use it with a DX7 IIFD, and a microphone M-AUDIO NOVA.
UTILIZATION
The installation took place without any particular problem.
GETTING STARTED
And that's the problem. After having just installed (and I did it with a technician for installation of PC audio for use with Cubase), it appears that the quality of audio recording is catastrophic. The first branch was a simple microphone input and begins to register to see if it was the coup, but now we hear clicks. After, having played with all the settings for cubase, we tried 24-bit and 48kHz, and the quality has improved: more clicks.
However, upon trying again to my records, it appears that any audio recording, it may be the configurations, is still a very disturbing background noise and very audible and makes the system unusable. I then give my PC vendor cubase with whom I had bought (the reseller is also the official distributor for Steinberg). After 1 month of research, emails with Steinberg, testing of all kinds, I give up. I got a refund and I purchased E4 cubase cubase SL OmniStudio interface with M-Audio Delta 66 with a card. And, nothing to do, great quality, impressive latency, stability was breathtaking. In short, day and night.
OVERALL OPINION
Cubase E4 for me is a total failure. I lost one month between telephones and disappointment, and finally get rid of it. I hope my experience will benefit others and avoid these drawbacks.
I put 1 / 10 as a note instead of 0, simply because the computer has agreed to launch without crashing cubase.
Steinberg is good for softwares, his years of experience in this field have proved. But it is even new in the field of hardware and the result is affected badly.
