OVERALL OPINION

LuSH-101 is a thick, juicy, versatile synth that derives its lushness from multilayers and state of the art synthesis features (oscillators, filters, envelopes, etc.) and effects. D-16 Group has an uncanny knack for developing unique and inspiring audio plugins, and LuSH is no exception. It is a flexible and fantastic virtual audio instrument. I've always been a D-16 fan, enjoying their sound, features, and product names. When they first changed the name of this synth from Shioitor to LuSH I was worried that they were selling out . . . breaking away from their cutting edge, dare-to-be-different ways, but soon after launching this thing I smiled — LuSH is the perfect name for this VSTi. They also could have called it, abundant, delicious, dense, heavenly, lavish, or voluptuous. . It's certainly the opposite of bare or sparse.

LuSH not only sounds good, but it looks good. I'm a visual guy, and the interface means a lot to me. This GUI is easy on the eyes and a pleasure to work within. Everything is in the right place and is the right size for inspirational tweaking. If you don't have time to create something from scratch, there are more than a thousand well thought out and designed presets in the factory library that you can adjust to taste. The preset browser is intuitive and user-friendly. Like all D-16 Group plugins, LuSH has it's own personality. It's diverse and capable of doing tracks for any kind of electronic music, whether it be alternative, ambient, dubstep, drum and bass, house, industrial, new wave, retro, second wave, soundtrack, or techno. There aren't that many synths that can produce both warm analog sounds and a crisp clear digital sounds. LuSH can!

Is this the only synth you will need? It could be, but of course if you are like me you will want more! I wouldn’t let go of my other favorites. If I could change one thing about it — I would make CPU demand more efficient. It's too heavy a load for one synth, but then again . . . it's 8 synths in 1, so it's not bad at all, is it? The price is good. The customer support is great. The sound is wonderful. I give LuSH five stars. Thank you D-16 for creating another masterpiece!

Attention, a recent configuration is preferable, the plug-in is proving quite intensive CPU resources.

OVERALL OPINION

Aah, one enters the heart of the matter!

(I use it for several months in beta-test).

The interface is clear and intuitive as well as being enjoyable. We regret the absence of a generator of sinusoidal waveform, which can be imitated, however slightly using the filter with a lot of resonance and little cutoff.

We appreciate having an insert effect per layer (especially Decimator and distortion and filter effects for vowels required for dubstep for example). The effect of string ensemble is stunning as well. Overall, the effects are of good quality, as usual in D16.

Editing is simple, it goes to the essential fairly quickly, although initially, there is a tendency to mix brushes when you want to edit a layer when many of them are active. Layers can play on the same MIDI channel (the entire range of the keyboard or on different portions of the keyboard) or play on different MIDI channels.

The possibility of copy / paste settings from one layer to another layer is very convenient (plus Mac OSX: CMD + click "Prev" to copy and CMD + click "Next" to paste the settings) to keep the same setting Envelope 1 and 2 LFO's or portamento (among others), which saves considerable time when editing sound on several layers (layers).

We would have liked the option to choose between the triplet and dotted note in addition to the traditional resolution for the speed of LFO's with sync to the tempo of the host application (as is the case with Fazortan or Syntorus of the same brand) in this first version, which should be fixed soon.

We also appreciate the ability to save / load patches (all settings of a previously saved layer) in any of the eight layers, which is also a great time saver.

Sync mode can also go further in sound research. The unison mode with settings tuning, pan and filter cutoff frequency well thicker sound. Supersaw function is also interesting to enrich its leads and strings.

The modulation matrix is ​​not rest, it is quite complete and will evolve in future updates of the source to some destinations TIE is quite interesting to use the arpeggiator, but do not worry, other combinations of sources / destinations are as interesting!

The presence of the mixer is also a plus, for each layer with a compression section with the usual basic settings, a 3-band EQ with parametric mid band to a switch Pre / Post compressor. It also has a reverb, a delay and a chorus effect send control for each layer, this item can also be placed in pre or post fader. The routing to different audio outputs is also facilitated via the mixer (or the panel via "Options / In-Out").

Regarding control Lush-101 Midi, its assignment to an external controller is also simple with the table assignment Midi (Midi Map) via the panel "Option / Midi control" or via the function "Midi Learn".

To control through automation, as the standard (VST or Audio Unit) only has 128 parameters and the number of parameters of Lush-101 far exceeds the number of entries, D16 has integrated a mapping of assigning parameters to the host application via the panel "Options / Parameters" with a No. column parameter for the host application and a corresponding column in the internal parameter Lush-101.

Side tone, the bass sounds are good, subtle strings, leads pass mix well, cover factory presets lot of musical styles and can get a pretty good idea of ​​the potential of this instrument.

I must say that, having thoroughly tested, especially during the beta testing phase, it is a very powerful synth with a huge potential.

No problem installing it is a VST and therefore any kind of voodoo is needed ... I have not encountered any compatibility issues.

The optimization does not seem to be the best at whatever CPU usage or RAM but the whole remains stable on my setup.

OVERALL OPINION

I have been using it since its output is 18 October 2012 and it is far from being my first VST (i). What I like most is the possibility of layering and step sequencer / arpeggiator for each layer independent. What I like least is that the oscillators suffer from aliasing 44.1kHz and D16 Group claims to the contrary then it must be used with a sample rate than 44.1 kHz to avoid aliasing have ... On this one he did less well than the DIVA who suffers no aliasing at 44.1 kHz.
The final value for money given the potential is very honest!

Install without problem, I turn on a macbook pro 17 inch core i7 8GB ram in logic pro 9.
I did not read the manual but I find the interface clear and synth vraiement successful, we quickly understand the circuit and sound for those starting in the synthesis I think it is really educational as learning synth .

No bugs, no crash after heavy use, on the other hand it really is too cpu intensive!
For those who have small configs that may be just ...........
I have not managed to open more than 2 on 2 different tracks if too many crunches damage.

I do not know about the windows version to mac but, apart from the consolidated cpu it works wonders and no crash.

Effects are deadly! D16group I love the sound, reverbs, delays, chorus, phaser are great.
The decimator also true hearts to try .......
The power of the synth with 8 layers possible is incredible!

The arpeggiator very well done and easy to master.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it since its release, I have lots of vst and also hardware, and since I have is that I open the first (before my lead north, motif xf, zebra and diva).

The factory presets are average but some clearly show the ability of the bb, you create your sound!

I love vraiement grain, I think it sounds like no other synth I have and I say bravo to D16 group!

For the price you can go for it!

The only complaint really cpu intensive damage!
