This workstation (synthesizer, sequencer, sample-reader) is a joy to use. The sounds are really great and definately take after GEM's predecessors (the S-series synths). The only two little nags are in the display (waaaay too small) and the lack of polyphonic aftertouch. The drawbar-section is a very nice addition with a number of brilliant organ sounds already in memory. I really like the Equinox a lot, though I'd prefer the S3 as a performance tool.

Oh, and another minor downside (of all GEM-synths) is it's weight. You really don't want to carry these machines to gigs, it'll hurt your back.

They go quite cheap these days as this is an underrated synth, the last serious machine that left the GEM factory...

Try one if you run into it. You'll like it.

Why is it so synth msestim our counters? Because, frankly, is a sacrebte racing.
Two audio engines (one for playing the keyboard, one for squenceur), keyboard functions flask with double terminal noon mode "organ pulls" bote intgre rhythms, 2 MB flashram to put samples in internal (and still save the extinction of the machine!), 3 effects blocks, ...
Anyway, I will not numrer the complete list, but when did a lot for even a single synth.
Obviously, the squenceur had some problem youth in terms of stability but has arrrang with updates of the OS.
As for the sound quality, some apprcieront, others not. For cons, the sounds are synthse got my trsrussis, some of the same sounds and acoustic piano.
It is true that with 1000 presets, there are often duplicates, but the 2000 sites will let you use something to put your two cents.
Ultimately, it's a big fat synth which ignores a poor cousin of a Kurzweil and has not been as successful forcment he would d.
Besides, if you find the style options SCSI, Hard Drive kit or vocal harmony, do not miss because they are almost impossible to find now.

Why this synth is underestimated? frankly I was in the hands of several synths (D-50, Korg X-3, Roland XP - 30, Korg Tr Rack, Fantom Xa) and I must say that the equinox would largely the road ... In short, thank you GEM.
