All user reviews for the Yamaha MOTIF XF7

The XF7 is a 76 key music production synth. It is very expensive, but after you get the chance to use it for a few minutes you will be hooked and have to have it. All of the sounds in the XF7 are amazing, they are well designed. The presets have just the right FX on them to make them stand out and pop. The arpeggiator has over 7000 sounds that you can use, you can also layer those arpeggiators and create some really interesting sounds quickly. The XF7 is the perfect keyboard for the studio and for the live musician. Performance mode you can layer your voices and split the XF7 up into two different half's so you can play a different instrument for the bass (play bass on the left side and synths on the right side at the same time in performance mode).

UTILIZATION

The XF7 has 128MB of internal memory right out of the box. You do not have to install any more memory because it comes maxed out. You can record or sample any audio source effortlessly. There is no installation involved when working with the XFF7. All you have to do is plug it in and turn it on.

SOUNDS

The XF7 is heavy and bigger than I expected it to be though, at first glance it does not seem to be very big but once you are in front of it, it is a lot bigger. This could cause issues when moving it from one gig to the next. The screen that is on the XF7 is a full color display and it is bright and very easy to read. All of your navigation functions are right beside the screen so that even if you are in a dark room you can still find what you need to find.

OVERALL OPINION

Working with the XF7 has never been easier, I love when I get the chance to work with it and I have never met someone that does not like it. If you can afford it, you must buy it. But it does come with a large price tag.

if you are a computer hacker, Plug become interesting.
but not to live ....
Why?
because each plug to its ergonomic .., and then ... that the puzzle;
a hard, full limit but in the same ergonomics .. so, "saving time and easier to use.
the two worlds are different and non-competitor.

the ideal is to combine synths of this type with the "sound slate" of OPEN LABS

UTILIZATION

Motif ES6 Compared to that I owned previously, ergonomics has been greatly improved, thanks in part to the larger display. Still found the logic of ES, so it is not lost when using the XF7 the first time, but with greater ease to edit the parameters of a sound, performance or sequencer.
Flash memory is also a huge improvement compared to the loading of files along with the ES6 (in USB1 with 512 MB of files to swing into RAM, it took a while). There were lighter moments later and we can use the keyboard with all the data arranged.
The keyboard is also better than that of SS6 I had.
A small downside to quibble: 4 banking users that is not enough especially if you load the super banks inspiration in a flash, provided free on the Yamaha, but it's always good 4 better than 2 (on SS6 ) and then the preset sounds are excellent quality.


SOUNDS

The vamp. Yet SS6 already sounded very good. But that sounds clearly have a different magnitude, they are more accurate, it's a real pleasure. Keyboards, brass and other wind instruments are really well above the SS6. With Adam monitors A5X, direct comparison between the two is obvious.
I can not compare with the XS or M3 that I've never tried it, there may be less of a difference with these machines. on the other hand with those of the previous generation, there is no photo, it's much better.
And if you do not find his happiness with the multitude of waveforms of the machine, it can be added through sampling or buy a sound bank. Or fill with a pure synth (an Access Virus among others)

OVERALL OPINION

I own this keyboard since October 2010.
I have owned a lot since the late 80 (DX7, M1, T3EX, JD800, Trinity and SS6), but this is the first time that I deal with a machine as versatile, with sounds fabulous without the need to stack the effects. it will take me a while to get around. This workstation should suit any style of music (for electro, maybe one Access or a Moog keyboard in addition to what would be welcome)
I always preferred to ordis workstations to record ideas on the fly "(ideas that I then reworked with Cubase), and I regretted my previous sequencers Korg, I found that the ES6 not very comfortable (especially early ). Now this review is no longer appropriate to be with this machine.
In summary I am pleased with my purchase, and I was not expecting such a difference with PS6. Fantasy
