«  It's digital! »

Published on 05/23/12 at 11:16
Value For Money : Excellent
- Considerable effects: chorus, compressor, distortion, over drive, fuzz, flanger, wha-wha .. I forget because there really. Programmable on his own computer or through the database Line6: practice.
- 100% digital and good connectors (in, out, phone, noon).
- Crank very robust.

UTILIZATION

Its use is much simpler than the PC interface on the pedal itself. Admittedly, the user manual leaves enough dreamer: it is very brief (especially the French version compared to the U.S. version) and so it's a little fend for yourself. The problem at Line 6 is that you register to download applications or drivers to connect to the PC and once registered it is IMPOSSIBLE (after selling the hardware for example) to unsubscribe. It is to save lives!

SOUND QUALITY

I play a musicman Luke (therefore active EMG pickups) and frankly it's cold. If you hope to have the sound of Steve Lukather at low cost, drop and this is normal. It's digital, ie that are not components that react but simply a series of 0 and 1, injected into a processor that you "factory" sound.
Noise levels between different types of amplifiers are also a big problem.

OVERALL OPINION

Nothing to say about the multitude of effects available if too because we know what to choose and many are similar.
Nothing to say no more about the convenience of accessible memory (pedalboard) at any time and the interface on PC far more friendly than at lunchtime for novices. However it's digital, so cold, always reacts the same way over from analogue (normal). But I think the biggest problem of this type of equipment is the disparity in sound level between the different types of amps. It's really a pain to align, either one is too strong or too weak.
Used about 4 years but finally the good old income lamps and analog effects (but not good). This is a "Swiss knife" to know many things proposed and no qualities but ideal for young beginners. The requirement comes with experience but if it had existed 30 years ago!!
