Ovation Celebrity 80/90 equipped with a passive piezo. The guitar consists of a 3/4 cutaway hull, table glued spruce and mahogany neck very thin and comfortable. it gives this celebrity lightness, sound and superior comfort and a great versatility. Mine is dark brown finish: no more fancy than that but Smart, who has through the years despite the road.

UTILIZATION

This is definitely the best race of all acoustic who have passed through my hands so far. The cutaway provides access to the latest freight, hull delivers a not very powerful (if you play "dry" with boxes full of other folks, maybe they will have to adjust to that you hear about on the beach fire) but the sound is one of the best ever heard: precise, crystalline, in agreement as gimmick.
Mine has seen 100 times the sea, the mountains, the evenings when it was the inning to messing around on the nights when we fell asleep in the grass, she survived all, a real globe trotter! I had a small vibration problem once inside the box after a trip, but a luthier arranged me very quickly. Michelle Shocked recorded his first album in full at the roadside, just with that!

SOUNDS

In 25 years, I've done all kinds of music: mostly folk and blues of course, but also bossa, samba, pop the liking of adventures and encounters. On it I write everything. At registration, the piezo is faithful but very dry: modern folk have better systems I think. For my part, I plug the piezo on the table, I re-balance slightly EQUAL to the sound, but mostly I put a zoom H1 in front of the box. And then it becomes enjoyable: I mix with just a little piezo to keep the attacks, and any projection Ovation is captured: happiness.

OVERALL OPINION

This is a great warm and light guitar in all situations and especially when traveling. Great for travel! I never found such a comfortable handle on a folk: It's sad that we can find today, every time I use it, I beg not to be forced to play on another one day.

I'm originally a piano player- picked up guitar about 10 years ago and have attempted every style up until now. I tend to naturally side with contemporary blues.

I bought this for $299 at Guitar Center, I really wasn't sure what brand I was looking for. I just wanted a decent acoustic with a pickup, and a helper at Guitar Center suggested the Ovation as the best bang for the buck in that category so I took his advice.E

Great sound, both plugged and unplugged. I was a bit worried about the guitar being made in China, but it's really well crafted. Attractive design and detailing, a very beautiful guitar overall (I bought the red one). The projection is excellent for a guitar that's this thin- I'm not even sure how it works but I've played thicker guitars that don't project as well.

Since the guitar has a hump-back, you really have to lean forward and step on something to play it without it slipping, but it's really not bad.

The playability was my main concern- when I first bought it, the action was pretty high and made it very difficult to play fast. My friend's shop had to shave down the saddle and tune the neck to a comfortable level. Now that the action is lower, it plays much better and surprisingly, there's no buzzing or significant changes to the tone. It makes me wonder why they didn't start the guitar with this setup in the first place.

I usually prefer American or Korean made guitars but playing the ovation and from the first impression, I didn't actually know it was made in China. I'm certainly impressed with the level of work here- it's definitely not the same cheap-o quality you'd expect.

Excellent for the price. Obviously it doesn't stand up to the playability of a $1000+ guitar, but the tone and projection surprisingly will. So the playability, you may have to customize for yourself- but the sound and build will definitely make you a smile.

I purchased this guitar at Guitar center, I paid $299.00 when it was on sale. It normaly cost $399.00. That is customer cost not list price.

Great sound and very comfortable to hold and play for me. The price was very reasonable for the quality of guitar. Action is very good, was able to lower action by removing shims under saddle. Holds tune and has a built in tuner.

The only problem I have is with it slipping out from you while playing. The plastic bowl tends to want to slip occassionally from your leg while sitting and playing. Not a big enough problem to keep me from purchasing another.

Very good quality construction for the price. Of course there is a plastic bowl on the back but does not seem to effect the great sound I get from this guitar.

Check this guitar out when you go looking for one! I love it. May want to remove shims from saddle to lower action a bit. Could get some buzz on D string after doing this, so take that into consideration before removing shims. I just put elixer strings on it and they rock.

I payed somewhere around 400 at Guitar Center, Seattle, WA. I started doing alot of solo gigs and needed an affordable acoustic/electric.

In general I find ovations vary attractive guitars. I did a lot of research in this price range and this ovation was by far the best value for the money. Excellent, highly acclaimed electronics, with a great built in tuner. Also very easy to use the eq and access the battery. The mids and highs ring beautifully. Fairly easy to play.

I've read alot of the other reviews about ovations and my dislikes are about the same. The shallow bowl is hard to play with out a strap. Unplugged the acoustics are just ok because of the shallow bowl. Its good for just practicing when not amplified. The low end is pathetic compared to a full drednaught. I also don't like the location of the input jack. I have fret buzz on the low e string that pisses me off. Not as noticeable when amplified. I read on this site that a Legend owner has the same problem with the buzz. Must be an ovation issue.

Overall, very good construction. I can get pretty abusive and careless when it comes to my gear. This is my second ovation and both are very durable to being knocked out of their stands, banged around, etc. haven't dropped'm... yet. Quality is top notch.

ovations are an aquired taste. If you want a deep full-bodied acoustic sound to jam around the campfire this is not your guitar. However, what you do get is a great looking, durable, acoustic/electric that sounds fabulous amplified. I suggest finding one used, or get a balladeer or legend used for about the same price as this one is brand new. Either way this is a great deal.

Bought this guitar for son,after many,many weeks of looking...I own a Kramer Farrington and my son liked that,,so thats what we looked for basically.Sons friend recomended Guitar Center to buy a guitar.We paid $500 for case and guitar ,strap,picks..

Sound,Sound,Sound,,,Sounds SWEET without a pick!!And with a pick!!,,,not yet plugged into amp yet,,as its late.Just bought it 1 hr ago.Buy this guitar!!This one also has built-in tuner and i love it!!

Ovation has only one drawback,the sitting position is a bugger.Needs a Rubber bottom of the body to hold it on lap.Time for Ovation to fix that!

Even if u dont like the style,the sound will make you so happy!!I looked at Ibanez,Fender,and many others and for the price,style and the sound,,,and mainly the action on the neck.Im happy as a lark!Too bad I bought this for my son,hmmm time to trade my other 4 guitars in for a great guitar.!

i got this guitar for $400 (canadian)at Long and McQuades. it was great cuz for 400 you got the case, a change of strings, and includes tax and everything.

This guitar kicks ass! its got a nice sounding acoustic sound, and a nice electric sound too. its got a nice body, with the concave carbon fiber back that just slides into position. the neck is nice and slim, so youre able to move your hand around and its not too thick either. the cutout is great, you get tons of room to reach the higher frets.

... this guitars great... the only thing that bothers me a little is when i have it plugged in, when holding the guitar sitting down, your arm tends to unwillingly shift the Bass and Gain. although that varies with the body type you have...
everything else is amasing.

great quality, nice thing for the money. the head looks great (just gotta love that ovation build). as i said before the neck is very conmfortable and the cutout is nicely made.

this is the guitar to buy if youre looking for a good affordable guitar. ive been playing for a year and its taken me pretty far. its a great guitar

My opinion: I play there in increasing the treble and bass very slightly, and it sounds great across the spectrum, light, difficult to play after starting then it's like you get used to everything.

UTILIZATION

We obtain are very good facillement it sounds right away.
it is light;
cons for each access to treble is difficult but the handle is nice.

SOUNDS

It is ideally suited to my style of music
I played with a pedal compression and distortion (distortion light) if the sound is disgusting and a wah-wah
it goes well on amps in general

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for almost 2 years I even abandoned the acoustic guitar for her
I think its particularity is its sound and we can play receiver as an input line adapts well

The best is to go on the Ovation website for technical characteristics.
The main difference is obviously the matter which constitutes the body of the guitar body.
This is the same material that is used to make helicopter blades!

UTILIZATION

The big advantage I find with this guitar is that you keep it very close to the body. For someone who is accustomed to playing with a folk guitar with a body "classic" it may be a bit confusing at first but you get used very quickly.
To play standing with a strap at the beginning we felt that it slide a bit but is pulled quickly from the fact that the party really close to your body like an electric guitar.
The neck is really nice, nothing to say on that side. The cutaway allows easy access to the last fret (although folk for solos is not that of y 'better now ...)
So really agrébale guitar playing!

SOUNDS

The main point which we must be careful that the size of the fund. There are different depths. There are "Small", "Medium" and "Jumbo".
I have a box "Small" and the sounds are very good. What is clear is really a particular grain had to matter. But with a box "Small", it is true that the power of sound is not as strong with a cash or with a conventional "Jumbo". Solicitating for bass, then I think that for many the highlight should be a "Jumbo".
If it was ç again, I bought the same but with a bigger body.
Otherwise sound level there is nothing to say, the sound is clear is going very well when amplified.
There is also an equalizer on the side that allows the sound to properly set on the amp.

OVERALL OPINION

It's been 4 years since I played with and the only regret I have is do not take cash "Jumbo".
Otherwise there is nothing to say.
Major advantages: Excellent playability and sounds unique to Ovation.
I had paid at the time Fr 2800 (about 400 €), scratching little excessive, so excellent value for money.

The guitar is not quite finished: some details left much to be desired (heel of the neck and sleeve junction / head sticker on the preamp to peel, plastic binding that age badly, mechanical change after 2 years soundboard very fine ...) and with time it gets worse! the only thing really is the case in lyrachord ...

UTILIZATION

I bought this guitar mail order tried before without telling me a standing ovation even at that price (3000 francs at the time) would be better than nothing (bcp bcp bcp I play more electric) particularly as the press put it on a level Estale: let's be clear I do not question the sound of the beast, but the finish.

The handle does not suit me at all with his profile fairly marked V ... Funny idea elsewhere on electronica I found! against access by the tweeter is pretty good (cutaway) where it hurts the bottom if you hold strong guitar playing against you (thus exerting pressure on the soundboard) bass sound false (like when you press the headstock to be a slight vibrato effect) as if the guitar was not stiff enough (it's a shame given the material used for the cash!) I personally find it very disappointing

I can not really comment on the preamp since I do not have a suitable amplification system but when I was able to connect on a table or when I use it live on my tascam I realized that it does not pose a particular problem (I repeat it is the violin of the guitar that I dislike her its not!)

SOUNDS

Ovation sound we like it or not period! I have nothing against me instead and celebrity CC057 has what all the grain that inimitable Ovation ... the bass is a little behind but the balance is not so bad and I like his shiny side that can offend others ... for the price is clearly the strong point of this guitar and it allows an escape from other small defects very annoying

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it in 1999 and as you could you know it I've never been really satisfied with this guitar although it sounds great for its price range (I hate the takamine!) And the poor finish manufacturing limit does not make it a guitar which I am attached ... Now we must consider that in this price range is by far the best offer acoustic electric ... I also tried the new Celebrity and it must be admitted that if the new preamp does nothing (if a tuner! super ...) the finish seems better quality and profile of the handle is better in my opinion

The color is a little honey and it tristounnette aurra liked some decorations to the Ovation, but considering the price.

The guitar is well finished.

UTILIZATION

I bought this guitar (discontinued) in my local shop in Marseille (Music Shop) on a thunderbolt in one quarter of an hour.

The handle is magical. All my friends who tried my guitar fell in love immediately. It is immediately at the handle (almost IRTH handle of a guitar). It is indefinable.

The access to the treble is very easy with the cutaway.

The original strings lasted 2 years. Even new strings Adamas did not match the original strings (I'm also looking for brand celle_çi).

SOUNDS

The acoustic sound is full of harmonics. All the subtleties and nuances of the game are broadcast on guitar and inevitably, a possible lack of precision by means of a musician too. So it's a little guitar can tolerate not recommend without some technical mastery of the guitar (not for beginners).

Pure acoustics, it has slightly less power drawn from a box bulkier (more traditional).

The preamp has a very precise tuning of high quality, delicious.

Plugged into an amp for quality electro-acoustic, it presents a sound with a substain near a mini-chorus, very nice. Also connected on a Vox amp Tube, the sound is nickel.

OVERALL OPINION

The price is obviously a very strong points of this guitar has a really excellent price / performance ratio.

I have since 2004 and a half hours after purchase, a friend was in the store, asked for my opinion by telephone and immediately bought the last copy available in stores.

Another friend, after having tried, but all sought a more availability. It took the replacement model but it is not exactly the same in my view: the marks on the neck are less well finished and I find the sound perhaps a bit less accurate.

Personally, I compose all my songs (any style) on it and I also play all styles on: folk, classical, picking, bossa, jazz, blues, rock, pop.

Anyone who tried this guitar have been seduced away: a handle so comfortable and it's so accurate, complete, that is played with fingers or pick.

An exceptional model then, but now found ....
