ADAM F5 Review

Over the last years, ADAM has become a house name in the studio monitor market. The brand itself has become the symbol of ribbon tweeters. Originally focused on the highest market segment, the manufacturer progressively started to offer more affordable speakers with the A and AX series. Now, the German company goes one step further with the new F series, presented at the last Musikmesse, which combines appealing features and an affordable price. Is it a good deal? Read more…

To all those who are reluctant to buy Adam F5 ...
It is true that the AF test is not the most flattering.

But there is much more appreciative tests on English or American magazines ...
When the Yanks talk about "bang for the bucks", it is rather positive :-)

    SOUNDS

I made myself a pair lend a buddy at Milonga Ezanville, moreover excellent shop with real passionate musicians who are willing to help out, lend, resume if you are not satisfied ...

I have a comparative listening in my studio, semi acoustically treated:
    -Mackie MR5 mk2
    TDC-prodipe 5 and 6
    Fostex-PM0.5n

The highs are not at all in the background, unlike the youtube video mentioned in the forums. they are soft, detailed, and are not an aggressive pet.

mediums are much more present than my mr5mk2 (good "customer listening" but too rough and hollow mixer). the bass are holding up well, they are precise and dry. They descend so low as my Mackie, but it is for the benefit of precision in the bass and lower midrange which is a thousand miles above the mr5.

I did not detect any masking effect in the midrange, but my reference pieces are not the same as those testers AF colleagues.

They manage to do better than the Fostex PM0.5 lent by a friend, which I have my bearings and which are nevertheless very good working tools ...

Anyway, I just equip my studio these speakers who have replaced my CCT 5, which I installed in the control room of a friend with whom I regularly mix (excellent speakers as, apart from finishing "prodype" which still some way to go, for example at the center of the tweeter in the center of the woofer) ...

    OVERALL OPINION

Conclusion: they are excellent, and not so far that the A5x, who have nothing more precision in the area of media (its a little more detailed hair, but hey, I do not register a philharmonic ;-)

In short, for 390 euros the pair, see 100 or 150 euros more, I challenge you to find better ...

Exemplary quality of production, aesthetics successful host of settings to customize your listening room, firing bass reflex front, and sound quality ... ADAM

The easiest way: take your reference discs, the ones you have in the ear, spin in a store that has multiple monitors, the f5 and make a comparative listening on specific beaches, as you know well. Also take your personal music ...
It is still the best way to avoid mistakes!

Edit: I was able to mix several hours on a high-volume hair, without ear fatigue. And after twenty hours, the sound is going to be free, to open the running plays an essential role in the sound quality, do not forget it.
