Uh ... rather impressive features:

6 voice polyphonic, multitimbral 6.
Synchronized oscilloscope 2: 3 waveforms + noise on the second.
15 filter types.
5 loopable envelopes (various modes) and retriggerable by LFO.
LFO 5, 6 if you count the vibrato.
3 tracking generators.
4 ramp generators.
FM tilt and filter.
Midi in out thru.
+ 6 stereo outputs 2 separate outputs (1 per vote).
Sextuple Converto CV / GATE input.
Two footswitch inputs.
A trigger input.
An input chain.
Aftertouch, velocity and so on.
Meets Control Change (4 configurable as we want).
Export sounds / sysex banks (without wanting to do the pub used midiquest it really is up to save its banks).
Modulation matrix free, almost everything is adjustable to a maximum of 20 "cables" per patch.
Modulations to quantization effects of stairs.

A monster without much current equivalent capable of working at home as well with a daw with a setup in cv / gate is rare.

UTILIZATION

The editing panel is excellent, it can be more clear, there is space and to help screen is very well designed.
In the config in itself we feel it is 20 years old, unison is set in the master section. No way back by patch is a bit unfortunate but at the same time the master section is very complete, would stay again.

Too bad there have not mix by waveform 12 as the Matrix, there are just a by tilt.
It's a little beast with a hundred some VAC on board ^ ^

The multiplayer mode is very easy to use but there too small "defects". Unless it's coming from me but I have not been able to drive two different cutoffs in a muti example.

He has little finesse, however, as a patch to compare changes before saving.

For the game master with a keyboard is essential knobs, the knobs of the Xpander is notched and it takes a few rounds to completely close the filter, for example.

Back in the master section:
We might as well decide to play the way 1 2 and 3 in unison noon splitée area as a keyboard track 4 runs with a sequencer cv / gate which is the pitch of the split part 2 keyboard, and finally the third area of split channels 5 and 6 duophonic for a pad or something or other.
It is not clear like that in writing but is configurable keyboard, stereo placement of the vote, the areas of splits, the MIDI I / O or CV / gate, the game mode channel (Rotary, reset, harmony ... etc.).

It can even be chains of presets for live and move forward with the pedal, ooaah!

The principle issue is simple: right section of the shortcut keys that lead to different modules (VCO, VCF, FM / lag processor, envelopes, lfo's ...).
The settings will be displayed on the central screen.
On these screens the central "soft keys" selection buttons settings / values.

Depending on what is selected on the central screen (one parameter or its value) the row of buttons is high or numeric keypad to enter values, is used to select a modulation source.
You first select your destination on one of the central display and one or more sources simultaneously.

Almost everything is modular, imagine the possibilities.
The only thing missing that would be like on my E-MU E6400 can modulate the action of a depth of modulation patching.
Otherwise about E-MU and Xpander: there are strange similarities in the overall operation, it hit me I feel like "home" the day I ' have received.

SOUNDS

Bah I find the sound fairly fantastic because it can make a simple funk bass or web ethereal sound sequence teknoide proficient crossed but always with finesse or potato choice with many filters and VCO sturdy. It has a much broader scope.

The 15 filters are great, top choice, I do not know how to say but the adjective that comes to mind every time is "sweet" sound so sweet because of the resonance typed .... gargoyle that it caramelize, it's pretty and it's good. ^ ^
Unlike other synths here when you push the resonance there is no loss of volume even with the low-pass 24 dB, the sound will become bigger and a little dirty, it's excellent.

He rarely sounds too big, it's easy to make a piece with him where the sound is full and wide and it bavouille not.

In my case I love and I am not at all in the eighties ... Zique pad analog Oberheim brass, Toto, Van Halen and all that ...
It's not my trip and these old machines waiting to make the breakbeat, the nubreak, dub, drum & bass of the ..... grandpas take out the name name, plus poly-arthritis in their whisked away a second youth lol!

OVERALL OPINION

Pfiou I do not exploit it fully, how I would do it in just one year abroad.

I had some synths analos, will, digital (keyboard G2, NR3, waldorf microwaveXT, Roland SH1, sequential circuits Sixtrak) in the past but this one was my Holy Grail.
I thought unaffordable until the day I came across this very honest German, Dieter thank you to you again. It cost me less than a virus OCCAZ keyboard of a big deal.
I do not sell because I think there is much to do to operate and the sound is the opposite of boring. He died at home I think.

Yes it will eventually die as unfortunately all those famous synth equipped with EMC channel chipsets (if I remember correctly) almost impossible to find.
It's sad because the Xpander is a fantastic machine noise.

Knock on wood ... the sides of the Xpander want ^ ^
