I'm shopping for a firewire soundcard. I've been hearing terrible things about the M-Audio 410. Thinking about Edirol FA-101. Also noted the Terratec Phase 24 at quite a low price. Can anyone discourse on any of these?

Just Google the 410 and you'll see what I mean. But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here anyway. I am looking at two things to do with the laptop -- firstly, compose and record music, not necessarily involving a lot of simultaneous tracking for now; and transfer MD to CD. Perhaps I'd be better off getting an all-in-one for the first use (Novation Remote 25 comes to mind) and a dedicated card (perhaps M-Audio Transit) for the second. Any thoughts?
