I use it for over a year with my ipad 2. It is essential to use an iPad in-home studio. I plugged a midi interface um-2ex on pc, and audio on my table multimix. The sound is clean and powerful, with low latency, ordered with my keyboard and so it is top. When there is blast, ca app from a poorly finished. I use it with all major app: fairlight (one of the few breath a little), PPG, SampleTank, moog, etc ... Effects, sequencers, editor afternoon ... In short, top!
Mixed audio input jack (XLR) are of good quality. I recorded a guitar electro-acoustic live entries on Garageband and it is very clean, also through multi-effects ...

It is designed for ipad 1, and some copies come with an adapter for ipad 2, which is a little thinner. Otherwise, when you purchase the adapter not being in the box, so I called on the dedicated website Alesis which must send gratos ... I'm still waiting! But I stuck four foam pads (the style that glue under the feet of chairs) and ca compensates it lacked a few millimeters to stabilize the iPad in the dock. Finally, apart from this small drawback, it works very well. An adapter is available on their site for iPad 3 as ... if they send a day!
In any case, I would do this choice rather than 2 times!
