Ashdown EB 12-180 Combo

I've been playing Bass for almost 3 years and decided I needed a bass amp as i recently joined a band (also, my 10 watt practice amp would seem pointless to use in clubs). I decided on the Ashdown Electric Blue as I was on a tight budget at the time and needed the amplifier for practice and gigs.

I bought the amp in England for £199 (around $249 i think).

The amplifier made a great table. And occasionaly, an Amp.

Quietly, the amp had a pretty muffled tone and seemed crackely when put loudly. After a month, it started makign a very loud noise even on low settings, so I sent the amp to the shop i bought it from to get it looked at aand they told me the speaker cone had a crack in it, after this i decided to have it repaired. After my first gig with my band, Wham! it stopped working. Got it repaired again. Played another gig with my band, Wham! Once again, it stopped working.

The construction of the amp seemed flawless, until i put my bass through it. To by an amp and have the cone crack a month later seems a mystery, even when i didn't play it that loud.

I eventually swapped this for an Ashdown Mag 300 and £130 ($149), which is a beautiful bass amp. I'd recommend this amp to anyone who likes a good looking table or very expensive fire wood. Otherwise, I'd strongly advise you saty away from this amp.

UTILIZATION

The beast is a little Drout to departure. it must be the volume of rgler. qualisation the trs is effective.

SOUNDS

Jou with a low of seri peavey unity with microphones Benedetti
a fairly typical "ampeg" but with an indescribable something more modern. trs well be rock / blues / probably good enough to see jazz at the same mtal
Sound can be both bold and VERY VERY prcis (thanks in the use of the octave with modration ... anyway) ... impresionant growl. warm and round with return. can be obtained also comes in many mediums
lowest empty: the treble ... not great for slap, but it's really the only weak point. This most likely the 15-hp 'I think buying a speaker 2 * 10' for this beautiful amp complter

OVERALL OPINION

I just tried repeating and home. the 180 watts are well, there is no comparison with my peavey pbm 300wtt in terms of power (for impeccable scene repeated and medium-sized) and explodes in terms of sound. The best amp that I've never jou (essays: Fender BXR, laney, fender rumble, peavey combo300, eden nemessis). good argument for him: the small size and low weight ... it would be almost ridiculous.
report quality unbeatable price. 450 euros for our Teutonic friends (not foo, other).
I would do without this choice pbm.

5-band equalizer, but not enough: p. between active / passive, DI, loop ... Octave effect deep and bright indeed interesting but not exceptional.

9 because it puts a recess could be better now (more band equalizer, lamp, fuzz, etc ...) but for a mid-range amp of this power is trs trs good: p.

UTILIZATION

Trs simple use, a minimum of knowledge is sufficient. the equalizer could not be clearer, the effects of even ... nickel and class presentation (with the VU meter on the left: p) for my part I have not come out the manual.

we get a good sound very easy, for my part I had to search to obtain a sound dsagrable. (Note that I'm not a pro reference ^ ^) but the sound is clear and precise trs.

SOUNDS

I played with a Cort A4 MKII active pickups Barto, the sound is excellent. I play from rock to metal to blues, but mostly rock and this amp is perfect for me. it is more versatile extremmement, we get a "good" regardless of its style trippotant wanted a little EQ, adding 1 or 2 effects fawn trs simple.

I spend a clear sound sounds very fat very easy on this amp.

OVERALL OPINION

I have this amp for a little over a year. this amp is great for its versatility (to avoid in my opinion if you plan to play only the metal / punk, well fat and aggressive but not worth a Hartke on the ground: D).

The only drawback (at the cost of half a star ^ ^) is its weight, compensated by its small size trs.

(Yes, contrary to previous opinion, recess is slightly compared to a 4x10 "+ amp head but for a 100w/200w he weighs his weight, I have not but I will say 20kg pes .. .)

bought in Germany at a price that I can not remember the order of ide (about 300 euros I think).
value for price more than interesting to me is a great amp for those who have no desire or means to fuck in an amplifier 800 euros (for repeat / beef / small-medium sized scenes / studio / etc. ..) but want to still a quality amp.

With experience, I remake that choice.
