SWR LA 15

I bought it used from a music store in Pitman NJ. It appeared new in all aspects. I paid 300 for it which isn't too bad seeming as I was looking at a crate 15 for 500, etc. The sound of this is very superior, especially for the price. Later I found out on Musiciansfriend.com, zzounds.com, etc. , they are 300 with free shipping.

Everything is beautiful. Truely beautiful, if you play 4 string.

I play two 5 strings Epiphone and Warwick. This amp cannot handle anything from the open B to E. It burps constantly making me want to put my foot through it. I don't think it can even handle drop D. Now from E to beyond, you can crank it and be in bass heaven, but those of us who wish to be a bit more interesting, this amp is frustrating. I've tried compression/limiters the whole nine yards and the only way I can get by at practice is by using chorus which does not give me the bottom end I want. The search continues.....

Like a friggin tank. A+ quality.

If you play 5 string keep looking. If you play 4 string the search is over. I give it a 3 for its negligence.

I was searching for an amp that could handle my Dean 5 string bass. I had tried the Fender bassman 100 a good amp but it was too expensive. I tried a professional SWR half stack (very expensive)and was greatly impressed with the SWR sound.I went in the store and played a 5 string bass that retailed for about $600, very comparable to my bass, and I was immediately impressed with the sound emanating from this small box! I bought this amp at The Guitar Center in Tempe AZ. for $309 plus tax.

I love the sound. Even though there is nothing on the amp that says effects loop, it does have an effects loop. You can use the Tuner out as the effect send to the unit, and then route the units send back into the Mix In, and presto you have an effects loop!

As you push the amps volume there is no adjustment for the tweeter other than turning down the Treble on the amp or your bass. An attenuation level would be nice but for the price I can definitely live with it.

the size only 50 pounds, and I love the price. It looks good with the black tolex. This thing is built like a tank. This amp has a port in the rear of the amp which produces a very big sound when placed near a wall.

I love the SWR sound. This amp uses the same basic preamp design as the bigger more professional SWR systems, it is just easier to get your sound with the basic Bass, Mid, and Treble tone controls. With this amp having a piezo tweeter and 15" speaker I had no problems with my low B string at all. It was very tight and punchy. My bass has active pickups so I had no trouble getting a tone that works good for me!

I ordered this amplifier from the Musicians Friend catalog. I paid $300.

I love everything about this amp! First off it 100 watts that is enough for a small gig! It is so easy to use that anyone could do it! It has a mix-in feature that allows you to plug another instrument in to it or a cd player so you can practice along with music. It has an awesome sound at every single fret, no buzzing at all. Pure bass sound!!!

The one and only thing that i don't like is that it weighs 50 lbs. It is easy to carry though it has two extra sturdy handles to hold it.

This is an awesome unit. It is awesome looking to with the carpeted sides and the white sub and visible tweeter it says "I am the BEST". I haven't dropped it down any stairs but it looks like it could last for a long long time.


This is an excellently made and excellent looking amp. I have played many combos like Ampeg and Peavey and head and cabinet set ups and this is the best. It was definately worth the $300. I recommend this amp to anyone that wants quality for a great price.

I bought this beast from zzounds.com, i got it for the same as musicians friend had it listed for $299 on sale. I got it from zzounds because it was free shipping. I got it because i knew that SWR was a very reliable name and someone i could trust. The controls are very simple, but nonetheless this a real bang for the buck.

i like the simplified controls and the line in mix jack. and i really liked teh price

due to the simplified controls it can be difficult to obtain the tone that you may be trying to acheive

it is buuilt like a stinkin' rock. you could throw this beaast of a liff adn it wouldn't bust

this baby is a real gem for the price she's offered for, teh tone could be better, but teh overall performace is superb.
