great amp
Published on 01/01/12 at 22:50The Trace Elliot GP7 is a solid state bass guitar amplifier. Like the name states, it delivers 115 watts of power. It has two 1/4 inch inputs and also has an XLR output if you want to send a direct input signal to your audio interface or PA system. It has a ton of parameters, including knobs for level, EQ, and gain. It also has a section of sliders that is a graphic EQ.

The configuration of the Elliot GP7 bass amp is very easy to follow and I find that it is easy to zero in on the sound and tone that I am trying to achieve. The inherent sound is full and it is a good sounding overall bass amp. There is a good amount of control available, making it great for all types of bass guitars and genres. I don't have a manual for the Peavey Combo 115, but you shouldn't really need one as it is quite easy to use.
SOUNDS
The Elliot GP7 is great for all types of music, but I have really only used it for rock music. I have used it both on the stage and in the recording studio, and I am usually happy with the sounds I get with this bass. I usually use a Fender P-Bass or Jazz Bass with this amp, usually with great results. There is a good amount of tone shaping capabilities, which is what makes it a versatile amp in addition to be great sounding.
OVERALL OPINION
I've been using the Elliot GP7 bass amp for about four years for recording and live shows and have found it to be a great amp. While it is extremely heavy, it has a huge sound to go with it and works great both while recording or during live shows. The price of this amp isn't all that cheap, but it isn't expensive and is probably set right. Overall, this is a great bass amp that is versatile and sounds great.

SOUNDS
It suits any style of music: Very fat lows and highs that don't sound like cardboard, like on combos from Hartke, Swr, the small Ampeg. I have tried them all in rehearsal rooms. I have a 6-string Leduc and a Chapman Stick Bass and I think that, unlike the other combos mentioned above, it is relatively transparent. When you crank up the volume (7-8 to 10), the sound loses precision in the high end even if the lows remain fine. At normal volumes for concerts in bars, it stands out easily and fits all music styles. It really blows you away. I give it a 10 because I think this small trace elliot has a warmer and more organic sound than the new combos that have come out in this same price range.
OVERALL OPINION
I've had it for 5 years: I started out with a sh**** 4-string vantage but it was only after I had my leduc and my stick that this amp really showed its value. It is perfect for concerts in bars and other closed venues. It isn't really suited for bigger stages, but it has an XLR Di output on the front panel to connect it to any PA system.
It is relatively compact, very sturdy, and I added casters to make it easier to transport!!! When I bought it, I chose due to the reliability of the brand, but I have since tested a bunch of amps and have never found this roundness on combos at the same price point. Value for money: I think it's pretty good. A great amp for beginners.See less00 - budokaiPublished on 01/17/06 at 05:49 (This content has been automatically translated from French)So this amp in the version that I have for some months now, is a combo 130w RMS transistor ...

- I use an Ibanez EDB605 by connecting between the two sometimes a multi effects Digitech BNX 3 home. If there are gaps in the sound, it comes from either the low or me, but not the amp!
- Following is the Trace Elliot, that is a very distinctive sound
OVERALL OPINION
- I have since ... I do not even know ... 7 or 8 years and I am fully satisfied. I had problems with electronic fuse but no luck because it is really deemed to be reliable and robust. The quality of Trace Elliot made his reputation
- What pleases and what does not please, it's a Trace Elliot, it is very distinctive, even unique ... Matter of taste
- I bought used and I have not tried other amps before buying. But the amps I've tried since arriving in the combo did not hold a candle (Peavey, Fender, Ibanez)
- Having bought used, the quality / price ratio is more than satisfactory
- His only weakness is to do only 130W, but it's a combo. Sure, the day I sell it, it will be to buy multibody at least 300W. Otherwise, why change a winning team?See less00 - 3DosPublished on 12/01/10 at 10:38Solid-state 130W amp

As soon as I heard it, I fell in love ─ I simply love brilliant/twangy sounds. You can get a very round and deep sound with this amp but, if you ask me, it's a waste!
I love to play funky lines despite the fact that I play in a stoner band and this amp is absolutely incredible for twangy sounds and slap. I'm able to have a deep sound that is brilliant and twangy. I also play with an EBS compressor before, which really takes sound into another dimension (in terms of depth/clarity)
Short note: I took out the head to use it as a standalone head with a 4x10" Ashdown cabinet. The 15" speaker sounded too round, in my opinion, but that's a matter of taste. I nevertheless played a lot of concerts with the 15" as combo and it sounded pretty well.
I also play with an X-tortion for guitar (it's a real power horse but I ought to get an MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz to complete my gear) and it works fine, but I think the compressor behind it improves lots of things.
OVERALL OPINION
I've had this amp for quite some time now and I have recently modified the setup by removing the head, but I don't regret my purchase in the slightest. This amp is really worth it if you love to slap and play the strings hard!
Furthermore, it's very sturdy! I have taken it with me quite a bit without flight case. The grille is intact and the housing is in excellent condition (only the corners and handles are a bit run-down) with a bit of rust and cracks, but my combo is 15 or 20 years old and it is still really sturdy. It was made in the UK, but I don't know if it is still manufactured and if the more recent versions are as good in terms of manufacturing/finish/sturdiness.
To wrap it up, it's very, very good gear. You can go for it with your eyes closed if you find it secondhand, because the prices of new Trace Elliot gear are pretty high.See less00
