Micro surface for facing room. (Conference Room, etc. ..)
What technology?
See the chart of micro I even added me to AF.
OVERALL OPINION
How long have you use it?
2 years, but no microphone is produced by AT.
Have you tried many other models before buying it?
What is so special that you like most and least?
I also have a Shure Beta 91 PZM in (specialized for the kick of a battery), but it is very different compared to AT871R. The AT does not fit all in a bass drum but works well in "room" to get a little "air" of a harvester. I usually couples with an AT4050 or a Neumann TLM123 for taking ambience drums.
How would you rate the quality / price?
