So coming back to me the great honor of the first reviewer that famous DI 100x (I think the DI 1000 is more popular with pros - more expensive too). Classic features: active, in-,-thru (to use an amp) and unbalanced output (I think ... I do not understand the "Impedance-balanced 1 / 4" Tip-Sleeve Output "describes the site BBE) balanced XLR output, -15 dB switch, ground lift switch, military-spec circuit, and so on of the best, plus the necessary Sonic Maximizer: poorly expressed in two words (I'm not a sound technician ), it corrects the phase distortion inherent in any system of amplification / sound system. Basically the definition audio will be better, subtle harmonics of the instrument will be restored. Lo Contour acts on the low and mid-bass, and Process of treble. The only regret (for a keyboardist, or a program / machine / DJ - scratch and generally do not care) that does not BBE DI stereo (considering the price, we will not start collecting them as Behringer).

UTILIZATION

Use whatever is easier. Convenient format, is easy to install on any flat surface (to have on hand at the beginning to set the Sonic Maximizer). 9v transformer supplied with. Manuel concise and clear. Try it in different configurations in an amp thru by taking in a neutral sound, with or without the Sonic Maximizer, etc ...

SOUND QUALITY

Without Sonic, pure sound of the box is already a clarity and fidelity without reproach, I feel like I rediscovered the old Fender Precision. With the Sonic, it becomes a stage animal bassist for hero, and what a rotten sound: warm, colorful, beautiful grain, color specific sound of each string respected and glorified, more accurate bass with Lo contour. Technics digital piano on the same sound: Steinway pot turned into almost a miracle. In most cases however, Sonic is not as radical, but an improvement of its subtle and measured, as if the instrument found a sound presence: we realize what was missing before (dose adjustments, not Process too turn that fully metallized sound). Thus, a Wurlitzer (tried on a better sound system), even if it is already a "sound Wurli" valid on various amps, well respected and is seen magnified (for those who love the clean sound that want accentuate the piano the Wurli is the ideal for the side "rhodesque" warm, more muffled, some prefer a tube amp like the Fender Twin - for me that lack of gloss). OVERALL OPINION

Not having much experience with DI, I wore my choice on it after having read and heard much about BBE, reputation and the Sonic Maximizer, and I'm not disappointed. Of course, the DI-100x is expensive for a broke musician (290 CHF or 180 € in New Lead Music in Geneva), but for what it offers, the price / quality ratio is excellent, the other high-end DI often much more expensive.
