« The first digital quality! »
Published on 05/10/10 at 06:01Connections Input:
- 8 input jack (choice of the input impedance - Line or Microphone)
- 2 XLR
- Input and output digital ADAT
- MIDI IN and OUT
- 2 AUX
- Output Monitoring, to DAT, digital
Integrated 60GB hard drive on my machine.
Several values of sampling possible.
2-track simultaneous recording and up to 8 input ADAT
24 tracks can be played simultaneously.
UTILIZATION
Manipulation required for simultaneous recording requires prior reading of the manual. It is not necessarily intuitive.
The manual is clear and very well supplied as an example.
The mixing is very easy to implement, thanks to the integrated analog parametric EQ on all tracks. Cons by the copy / paste functions require more practice than with a modern digital audio editing, since there is no display, it must rely on his ears!
SOUNDS
The converters are the best that I could use this type of camera, then they are from 1998. I feel a sense of his more "airy".
The EQ is very effective, for cons I regret that there have not integrated dynamic effect.
OVERALL OPINION
I bought it new at around the year 2000 for 5000 francs at the time. This is my first digital camera.
I do not use this device today, my needs are very different!
I am surprised that the current integrated digital studios are so different from this unit (apart from the integration of digital reverb and delay).
Prices have radically changed, today the products in this category cost 300-400 euro.
For cons, I find that the quality of the Fostex FD-8 is largely over.
