Although it can perform Additive, Subtractive and FM synthesis - its awful. No editing possible via front panel. No effects. No use.

Price paid: £50

UTILIZATION

A dual 7-segment LED display and a line fo LED's with functions written above them is your lot. Although its easy to get it working and select patches etc, thats all you can do with it. No editing at all.

SOUNDS

I remember that it was weak and weedy. Really boring stock set of sounds that did nothing for me. No effects available to spice them up either - you have to use an external FX unit (what a waste of an external effects unit as well!). The output was fairly noisy as well.

OVERALL OPINION

The case was strong, but the plastic buttons on the front occasionally fell out of the front of the 1U rack when it was in transit. They just pushed back into place.

It sat in my rack for around 1 year before I found someone to buy it off me. Needless to say, despite my reluctance to sell sound sources - I was happy to see it leave.

All Controller of 0127 are recognized and can be activated or not. They may be in the matrix affects the modulation modulation source sounds like LFO, envelopes, aftertouch, etc. VLOC. thanks to the Controller menu changes. Obviously, but you have to use the editor software on Atari 1040, avc 2 MB RAM minimum, then it is an opportunity to re-enable this vnrable computer! ad a PC version also exists (vrifier).
The EVS contains 100 sounds bits/44.1 16 Khz, which only 20 are programmable, but then, what sounds! With combinations of FM, PM, WM and Ring Modulation, often seen on the final models of the FM wave, like the Yamaha SY 77.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the expander is simple, but the demand for shipping sounds srieuses synthse knowledge and not just FM or professionalism. Similarly the software is ncessaire, the manual is very useful for programming, to the point it would be better to renounce acqurir the EVS-1 without this accessory.
He Retailer algorithms, and waveforms that are used for educational Manir trs. How then evaluate such complexity? Positively or ngativement? Another view would be very useful subject.

SOUNDS

May be the EVS-1 he t Designed in the '80s, as the central module of a Hi-tech home studio, but today he is the victim of a fatal ... evolution. He can still occasionally serve as a complment nostalgia.
Personally I do not dsespre program a dozen sounds REALLY INTERESTED in this machine ... Dj few presets are the most beautiful effect and do not seem DMods.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it because I recently acquired and curiosities, and also as part of my studies on diffrent tration forms of synthse, and not in the ide of m ' use it to produce the next Skud. It is well worth the hundred and fifty euros, to me cluck!
Without the program for the Atari, I would not have made that choice.

For the user, the rest is in EPROM so can not be changed, one of the big "bugs" of the craft. No effects incorporated, but two "drumkits" samples. For an era BCAN quite powerful and original.

UTILIZATION

Is that the Roman s'empoignrent ...
The front, though well supplied, does not allow the publishing of the individual but the edition of "groups" in multitimbral use, a lot of MIDI and audio rglages (pan, volume of each part etc ...). Edition for "deep" it is essential that came with the software, the more notice because it plutt "taking head". For those intresss I can send it by mail that the PC version (I also have one for ATARI, o ...?) but some sound banks and codes "SYSEX" for fans of programming that would be their own publisher. For the book (in English only) I could possibly make. Pdf file if there is demand.
In short, be less a fan of CAD is not really gnial ...

SOUNDS

As usual the sound "factory" are .. uh ... trs gnral average. The problem is that there are a host! APRS, those of sound banks (in gnral made by users) is better, and even significantly. The programming possibilities are trs compltes (and complex), we can, with patience, get about the results impressive, but, except with synthse additive is little foreseeable. Raction of the keyboard is good and can affect a lot of the Controller paramtres external MIDI sound changes "on the fly". This machine is actually trs complmentaire keyboards, pads and other MIDI Controller at Evolution, we suspect a bit. With a "master keyboard" fairly well supplied with buttons it's really not bad. Gnral trs type sound in "FM", except in o synthse additive can sound more "analog".

OVERALL OPINION

I have over the past fifteen years, and it still works! So it's reliable. This is an original machine, sold few copies, with a potential INTERESTED. It is for the positive.
Ngatif for this machine is not sufficient of itself, it is essential for programming a microphone and a keyboard master-fully stocked with MIDI Controller. In fact the config 'which would be the era prvue is an Atari (or Mac or PC) plus 2 more EVS1 a keyboard in Evolution. Which case we must have a synth that kept the road (in the 80s).
Little things to finish: when operating power-odd, or no sound at all, bte open and change the button cell that makes the preservation of memory, then rebooted the whole following the procedure of the book. Too bad, your sounds great characters flew .. And since you opened it-yourselfers will find it in electronic full of empty so we can put a power supply internally or try to incorporate a multi effects rudimentary.
