OVERALL OPINION

Used for three years to pilot a trinity, a tx 81z.Il works in Cubase VST parallle for audio via a dsp Hoontech 2000. It is with joy that I could not dbarrasser bad conscience of my previous module ... price quality ratio of OCCAZ possibility trs rarely gal ...

UTILIZATION

SOUNDS

You can create sounds of breathtaking realism thanks to the synthesis "VL" (acoustic simulation) ... is a careful synthesis monophonic: that is why we "block" if you want to use dsp 2 with the synthetic sounds!: see the reviews below, but in my sax, a trumpet or a flute were never Polyphonic!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years and I sold my Korg WAS, TB 303 my, my supernova and my Kurzweil K2500 as it replaces all of these machines perfectly graces more than extended its possibilities ... it's perfect for "technomans" because it can produce deep and ultra low fat, tablecloths scalable breathtaking and the sampler is more than enough (up to 128 megabytes of ram!) ... note: I never used the sequencer, so I do not know what it is worth

Extremely powerful machine. An analog part trs really interesting, with a modulus close to AN1X. Having both devices, I can say that the EX5 can do same sounds. However it is easier to program on AN1X. UTILIZATION

Not so easy as it looks. You can combine the sounds in all directions, it means taking an analog sound and FM modulated with a gnrateur etc. .. making it a powerful machine trs but not easy to program. However if you do not go into too much synthse loa, then no problem. There are plenty of buttons on the front and a large screen to navigate.

SOUNDS

Then the sounds .... This machine possde certain sounds that kill the other cot death and then that sound like a PSR of 10 years ago. I'm not a fan of FM sounds, however, we must recognize that yamaha is strong in this area and some bass sounds are really excellent FM. In the subtractive synthse, yamaha is doing pretty good. But unfortunately I have not been convinced by the totality of sounds. There are sounds that I like, tablecloths and sumptuous hot and vibrant sounds of cardboard. The arpgiateur is great, you can really enjoy it. Analog sounds are good too.
The effects are real, the orchestral sounds are average.

OVERALL OPINION

Conclusion: I did not keep this machine. I never really use the sampler squenceur or I would say nothing on it, I use the PC for that. on the other hand I really use the power of DSP modulators and other sounds out of this gear because when you possdes other machines of other brands (TRINITY/JD990/D70 etc. ..) it adds a sound palette Different. It is capable of making sounds corms, bold, powerful analog well, deeper and pais the trinity but less 'spacial' less harmonics, but lost to time! This is an extremely powerful machine I recall but be careful not to saturate the DSP.

OVERALL OPINION

As mentioned in the introduction, I consider this wonderful machine as "Magic"! Like the Kawai K5000, Yamaha FS1R, the Korg WAS A / D.
The reasons for my recent purchase EX5R for this are as follows (given that I already have some machines and especially the small-son, my MOTIF ES6 doped with 3 cards PLG150 DX, AN and VL):
- Give me a second path VL: a synthesis "magic"!
- Offer me FDSP technology to explore the possibilities ... In this case, my EX5R becomes an expander Sound Design
- Give me a second way AN. Knowing also that the mix directly the EX5R AN AWM elements with ...
- Motif ES6 second my while providing a subtractive synthesis can be taken further and that, knowing that the EX5R includes a static filter in series and two dynamic filters, the Motif ES6 where only offers a dynamic filter element!

Weaknesses:
- A classic synthesis VL: editing sound does not exist
- The low polyphony when introducing technology FDSP

Thus, this machine is usually very undervalued and particularly under the altar of his age ... While it contains many treasures ...!
