Hercules DJ Console 4-Mx

how long?

I bought there is a short month and I am completely satisfied, it is a real change compared to my mixvibe Umix control pro.

my old models?
- Hercules mp3 e2 (a real toy, quickly eliminated)
Umix-control pro mixvibes 1 (a good deck for beginners, but big problems fader and cross fader after a year and three months, damage)

the + and -?

the positive points first:

a hull strong and stable metal.

big enough jog (12cm) compared to jog the mixvibes (7 cm) and the Comprehensive scratch that avoids some error mix pressure. there is also a locking jogs in the machine, thus avoiding problems during transport.

a number of cue points (6 in all) which can also be used for automatic loop (I use the controller with the software cross)

fairly resistant fader and a crossfader fluid.

Cons:

using the cross software, I need a second controller for my belongings (I use the nano kontrol 2 korg).

the side navigation is done using 4 button navigation rather than a jog dial (big difference with Umix)


quality / price?

correct for a semi-pro controller, it almost deserves to be a more expensive can see the robustness of the product. the 4MX comes with a carrying case, which is a real plus.

experience?

yet, it is a bit early for me delivered, I hope that this product will accompany me for some time (3 years, that would be cool), yet I would do this choice. only time will tell me if it is good.

How long you use it?

I using the last two years mainly at home but also at student night and was flawless!


Did you tried many other models before buying it?

No, I only owned a Hercules mp3 e2 previously.


Who is she?

As a student I did not really afford to invest in more professional equipment like CD players and other ... So I head to this console very complete. It is really great for beginners and even for those more advanced.

The connection is complete?

It is quite complete, these outputs Jack and the opportunity to timecode.

What about usability?

She is very good because the table is sufficiently ventilated to avoid pressing two buttons at once and the layout is well thought out.

And the sound card?

She is very good with a sufficient power output (I have used that sound on relatively small). Latency is also quite low (about 10ms).


Which config?

I use it on a Dell Inspiron 15r (i3 core and 4gb of ram) and it does not budge. I traktor using the controller in which the mapping is provided on the site of Hercules.


What is so special that you love the most, least?

The +:
- General Ergonomics
- The impression of solidity
- The précission the jog
- The connection
- Latency.
- The four decks but ...

The -:
- ... only two faders control
- Nothing else


How would you rate the quality / price? With experience, you do again this choice? ...

Yes, without hesitation, more can now be found in the vicinity of 349 € which is really interesting! Very good value for money!

- What characteristics have motivated your choice?
Do it 4 deck control, and it contains a sound card and the touch as jogs or on vinyls.

- Which instruments and systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) do you use the connection and how? ...
I use a mixer Berhinger DDM4000 and a sound card hercules Deejay Trim 4 & 6 to allow me to mix the 4 deck quickly. All the connections in the CAR.

- For what purpose?
I use to mix in the evening while waiting for enough money to buy two high-end controller.

- What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Hard ,...)?
I have an HP with Windows 7 an Intel Core i7, 1TB of HDD and 4 GB of RAM.

- The drivers are stable?
The drivers are pretty stable, I had a problem pa is for the moment.

- Are they often updated?
No.

- What you get lag?
It's okay, but I can not use the asio with two sound cards if this causes tro latency and blocking virtual Dj.

- What software do you use most often?
I use Virtual Dj Pro 7 but I will try to configure it in traktor (studio, pro or duo).

- How many tracks you get to record / playback simultaneously? ...
4, it can manage 4 deck with buttons that switches from deck to deck A and C to B deck deck D.

- The installation is done it without problems?
The installation is no problem, it is very simple.

- The general configuration is easy?
Configuration is very simple and well explained in the manual.

- Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
No.

- How long have you use it?
I use it for some days.

- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
I had a console Virtuality mix for 2 years but the buttons start to be unusable so I think a change so I took the console hercules.

- What is so special that you like most and least?
The +:
- Sound Card integrated
- Jog Touch
- Carry bag
- Ability to manage four deck

The -:
- The jogs that react even if you touch the edge if too much support.

- How would you rate the quality / price? With experience, you do again this choice? ...
It's a cheap console, but it contains a sound card, with the experience I remake that choice.

What motivated this purchase are the output jack, the software supplied with the console (vdj7), 4 decks, quality construction (at least in appearance), its look.

I use it as a normal console to mix pieces but mainly to calibrate and create loops to accompany my keyboards. I use so many cue points, loops, wave form very effective and effects.

The console has its output connected to a mixer which comes on keyboards keyboards. It is connected by USB to a laptop, a Core Duo at 1.8 GHz with 2GB of ram.

The installation of drivers and VDJ 7 LE has posed no problem under Vista.
It responds well, is stable and sound quality.
My laptop is a great warrior but the CPU is never more than 50%.

Integration with VDJ is made.
Unlike the test, I find the automatic sync quite effective.
The switch to VDJ Pro costs about € 110 from the LE version. This causes additional effects and especially the ability to load Semple really make a difference.

on the other hand I have not figured out how to run the samples from the console. The assignable buttons do affect each sample in a deck.

I use it recently and I have not nor have extensive experience in console.
What I like most: integration with VDJ very successful, 4 decks, the outputs for I while Jack Jack home
This can be further improved: to have a notion of project in context to remind VDJ
A € 322 new, it's a good deal. I would choose it again though.
