    Hohner HW-640

I bought this guitar at the Mars Music going out of business sale. It lists for $299 but usually sells for about $225. I got mine for $135 under the circumstances.

This guitar just sounds great. The maple back and sides combined with a solid spruce top give it a very clear tone. It can give out an incredible volume without compressing the sound. My guitar is made from some very pretty tiger maple. This seems unusual for this model. The other examples I have seen are kind of plain. The neck is very slim and plays fast.

The satin finish is sort of boring, but it makes the guitar light and sound better. there is some glue squeeze out around the bridge. There was some buzzing on the low E string, but I adjusted the neck and the bridge saddle a bit to get rid of it. The frets are a little scratchy.

This is a maple dreadnought guitar. It is made in Korea. It has laminated maple sides and back with a solid spruce top. The bridge and fretboard are rosewood. The sealed tuners are no-name but work well. The guitar has a very thin satin finish, which is supposed to make the tone better. The general quality seems quite good.

Nice guitar and cheap. It sounds better than most guitars under $500. My friends and fellow players are impressed too.
