The UR-2 is a new generation stereo audio recorder from Fostex that utilizes dual SD cards (SDHC compatible) and USB storage device as the recording media.
At 1U rack size, the UR-2 is adapting to the variety of today’s recording and playback requirements.
Analog inputs and outputs are balanced XLRs at +4dBu and un-balanced RCA/-10dBV. Digital I/O includes AES/EBU and S/PDIF connectors. An additional Mic input located on the front panel with 48V phantom power enables voice and instrument recording and also mixing speech with a playback source. Fostex’s organic EL display provides for clear visibility, and DC power operation enables outdoor use.
Playback functionality includes Chain Play and Timer Play. The UR-2 is suitable for live stage performance and sound installation and is remote controllable with the Fostex’s new EP_CT1, featured with transport control, markers, and more. In addition external control is available via parallel D-Sub 25pin RS-232C serial remote, and USB keyboard.
Record/playback file format is BWF (WAV), and recording sample rates go up to 24bit/96kHz. Employing FAT 32 disc format, it is easy to transfer files to a PC based DAW for additional editing, according to the company.
