Meaning you wont have to do too much boosting the eq’s or cutting them down because everything records pretty natural and is ready to go right off the bat. I think I had to boost a little on the high end just to give a little more clear sound to the vocals and more presence. I cut a lot of the low end out as I do on all of my songs because my voice isn’t very deep so there isn’t a lot of low presence in my recordings. But you will find that the AKG D7 is a perfect mic for the home recording vocalist to get a very good recording with out having to go pay a bigger studio to record them. Not saying this mic can provide the quality of a really expensive mic, but it will record good enough that your listeners wont know that you recorded it from home which is very important to me.
OVERALL OPINION
Overall, I am very pleased with the AKG D7 and think it deserves more respect because it’s a very powerful mic and its affordable enough to have at your house. If you are a singer with a lighter voice and not to heavy or deep this mic will work great for your. It will provide a nice crisp natural sounding vocal. One of my favorite things about this mic is you don’t have to have a full room treatment in order to get the best out of it. I recorded with it in my living room with just standard furniture (couches , etc..) and it did everything I needed it to do. The AKG D7 works good, if you can afford to spend a little more money look into some higher AKG Dynamic mics.
