Hello to all! Good first review on this bass. Although eight years to condense ... I drooled over this low ... voila ... a dream to me ... and I am totally disappointed ........... nan kidding it rocks!

More seriously, musicman stingray made the U.S. version rosewood, 3 EQ bands classical myth (yes I say this bass is a myth).

21 frets without saying bullshit ... micro classical MM although that has received an upgrade, it is equipped with the Delano vintage found on the classic series ... it's not displease me.

I play the bass for 16 years now in a various bands. Most often I play rock, blues, jazz, funk and sometimes classical music. My favourite genre of music is rock (I like it from 8 ears old).

I bought this Stingray 1 month ago at www.musiciansfriend.com for 1365 USD.

I like almost everything about it. My bass is transparent gold with maple neck. Very good looking, extremely good rocking sound, awesome slap sound, active electronics (9 V power supply) with treble, middle and bass controllers, which gives you more tonal variations from solid and massive to sharp and high sound.

Unfinished neck. I affraid that it will become dirty after some time Anyway this natural maple is wery nice for my left hand.

Very strong, good done. I think it won't break even cracked to the wall.

It's probably the best bass I've ever had. Since I really like to play rock, Music Man Stingray is right bass for me.

My old bass fell apart because I used it so much. I needed a bass that would stay together and sound good at the same time. I also need a bass that was perfect for slapping. I then walked into a local music store to see what they had. I picked up this bass and played it. The following weekend I went back to the store and bought it. It cost somewhere around $1400 (I had been saving for a while), but you can get them cheaper.

The sound and playability. It's active, which just adds to the great single humbucker tone. That's right! No neck pickup to get in your way. The string spacing is wide, so it's perfect for slapping. It has a nice, low action which is also perfect for slapping. It also has really BIG fret markers.

The 3-1 headstock takes some getting used to, but once you do, you'll love it.

I have rammed the headstock into the wall at least 20 times (I need to be more careful) and it has taken THREE MAJOR FALLS! IT STILL PLAYS PERFECTLY! This bass will probably live longer than i will.

The tone cuts through a band like a hot knife though butter. It's extremely easy to play. The bass is built so well, you could probably kill someone with it.

- Neck wider than sterling or a jazz bass which suits me perfectly.

For purely aesthetic questions I always preferred versions with vintage gloss varnish finish, so as the MM before 1991 (or as the new series Stingray Classic at present), after it is rather neutral limit matt satin varnish on the back of the neck. Note the beautiful wood used for handles, 3 of the 4 models I had owned a bird's eye maple sublime the most beautiful effect.

Having read other reviews, I must say I can not understand the users who say that this bass is versatile. It's actually quite the opposite! And that's the whole point of having an active EQ! Sure, if you look for modern sounds very typical kind Warwick ... Must go to Warwick! But if one is more interested in all the classic sounds (I mean by that JazzBass, Precision and consort), it has everything that is in store! With a bonus feature that I found on Stingray: it is heard no matter what! This bass has the unusual ability finally pierce the mix effortlessly and regardless of the setting Eq! It's truly amazing. And if, like me, you think a bass player must use their authority to take the building (like the pillar of skyscraper), then this is the tool for you! For cons, I would advise to beginners because it forgives nothing, everything is picked up by his big humbucker phenomenal, so that those who have not yet mastered their sound and their fingers will find it difficult to play cleanly with.
My amp is an Ampeg SVT with which this bass has a real love story, they seem to have been made for each other. Otherwise I also tested a lot of amps, nothing to report except with Trace Elliott, neither I nor she seems to appreciate a lot. I use little effect, sometimes a Fuzz, sometimes phasing.

OVERALL OPINION

Over 20 years I am faithful to this model! Unlikely to change, and yet I have a low score! But this place has a choice. As said before, I had different patterns of Stingray, but my favorite is this one has a 2-band EQ, which I personally find most "wicked". The model with 3-band EQ in my opinion are less wild and more consensual, but also more versatile. As with any instrument "well born", it gets better with age and I have noticed with a newer model with which I was not all good "vibes" of the older models . So I would advise that it wants to acquire, to leave rather looking for an older model (at least 15 years) equipped with the 2-band EQ (certainly much more rare).
I'm thinking, I did not find fault. If the price may be because even though its price / quality ratio is very good, it remains an instrument of luxury.
And yes, of course I would do this choice!

Handle is softer than the buttocks.
