    Tobias Toby PRO-4

    Tobias Toby PRO-4Published on 06/08/02 at 15:00
I bought this guitar from www.musicyo.com for 500 dollars. I needed a bass to replace my old ibanez which wasent doing it for me anymore.

It looks great, sounds great, has active and a through neck. The only other thing you could ask for is a body made of bubinga wood.

I havent found anything yet and ive had it a year. The only thing i could say is that it doesnt have quite the same sound of a warwick bass, but then again it also doesnt cost 1000 dollars.

Very Very well put together. Even the electronics cavity is very clean and neat looking.

A mid price bass that sounds like you paid more for it then you did.

    Asian manufacturing, I think.
    - 24 frets
    - Electronic active pickups + Tobias types "soapbar" (Savonette)
    - Tobias Bridge Die-Cast as well as mcaniques closed. Black steel.
    - 2 volumes and 2 pots of boost-cut filter acting on the bass and treble.
    - Channel driver through "ASYM" asymtrique. (Tobias particularity of the double-Truss Rod)
    - Semi-gloss clear lacquer finish.

For a, say anything, it's a good job.

    UTILIZATION

The handle is a highway. This is made possible by asymtrique profile so special and varnish used. It slides alone is happiness.

Access in acute perfect, we go effortlessly. Dcoupe The body is nickel.

The handle is a highway. This is made possible by asymtrique profile so special and varnish used. It slides alone is happiness.

Access in acute perfect, we go effortlessly. Dcoupe The body is nickel.

Ergonomics. TRS is a beautiful instrument. Trs pro and excellent craftsmanship. The head looks a little during the game but it's still sitting in reasonable limits. Once standing is glove: maximum comfort.

The sound is also a strong argument in Tobias. While some s'crient that has does not sound like a Warwick, they could also make the point opposite. If MusicMan, Warwick and Rickenbaker do not sound like any other instrument, Tobias either.
So we will not try to imitate the sound of another because Toby Pro is just a tool possde his own condition not to the glandular on the pots.

It sounds of thunder! everything is played on the bass. From classic jazz to funk's most powerful through the rich mtal mdiums jou in mdiator over the bridge! BANG! a strong slap in the amp ... this bass is a pure joy to play and do not care a hell potato. Zro fatigue, we go back!

    SOUNDS

As I said above, anything is possible.
Some amps with this beautiful essays Tobias:

    - Kustom 60: a nice ring to it, say anything
    - Roland Cube 100: same, trs near the cube with more bass but less EHJV
    - Ampeg B15: the class! l is the top for jazz and rock
    - Trace Elliot 2 body Pfiouuuuuuu ... SETTING THE EQ on the head was hot but t sounds good ... trs same well! I used to try over the rack Tech21 ...
    - Twin Ashdown (old model): Arghhhhh! the RVE. BIG BIG sound ...

That's all btement the only lower my set I slap on which sounds good. must say that this is not my specially ...

    OVERALL OPINION

Trssrieuse low and high end for an affordable price. In 550 of okaz ...
I love his look. This beautiful round head topped by a trs Aesthetics, the body and shiny clear ... but happiness.

The downside to this bass is housing the electronics. Poorly arranged. The battery is held by a clip inquitant enough, but holds the road. Ct is the least srieux this low. But it's not too bad: no parasite or breath.

I had a lot of bass: Fender P-Bass Deluxe, Ibanez EDB605, Cort Artisan NC4 ... and Tobias is currently the best.

Not too CHRE, strong, beautiful and powerful as easy to play, the Toby Pro-4 is an excellent instrument. Try it if you see one!

May 29, 2006 THE EDIT: I put up for sale ... reluctantly.

    UTILIZATION

The neck is a joy my taste, fine, fast, not at all tiring and slides alone! I find myself going back to the Prilleux any serious acute simplicity! This handle makes you play better.
CHAC is very easy to acute.
The body of the instrument is then cut and comfortable (although quite heavy) but overall a little tiring instrument.
The sound palette is wide, just a little fiddling knob to radically change the sound.
And feel when you caress the curves of the BTE, with a slippery coating impcablement .... we realize the srieux finish.

    SOUNDS

Funkjazzlatin I play and I could not beat this instrument. All bottom to the groove: a shining in the treble with a lil dlicieux grain and deep bass that nailed to the walls. Ds that down a little pramp the sound is more jazz and softer.
We also promote some treble and get a trs slamming his ... Sustain is the norm thanks to the handle through.
Another poit and I love my fawn corespond well to play: one little nuance normment sound and attack if you play closer to the bridge or the neck.
The apparent slap wonder, I never play with a pick but I see no reason why e has not work in this technique also!
    In short, that of happiness.
re-told six months later I'm still convinced. I use dsormais more passive, the sound is even better! The slap is also interresting trs with these rglages.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two months (I've found opportunities through audio fanzine ;)!!) And that's the best coffee I had. In addition the ratio quality price is unbeatable, I pay 600 euros used, can not find the same comfort of play, the same tone, the same finish for the price.
What I like most about this bass is that it makes you better. Faster, prcis, cleaner ... The very first time that I used to repeat, the other member of the group is simply amazing.
This brings low REALLY something his group.
For those who hsitent, look no further, it is the one for you!

The handle is not too big and suitable for little fingers! CHAC is excellent for acute because of the dcoupe body.
The body is comfortable trs: everything falls under the fingers, the arm moves naturally good. The whole thing is a bit dsquilibr to the head but nothing mchant.
It is played trs seated and standing it up perfectly.

    SOUNDS

I play pop, rock, blues, funk and on Hartke HA 3500 Hartke XL cabinet (aluminum CNES), no effects (putting a hand to the bassball c..!)
I have to change the pre-amp for Delano 2 Tone / balance / volume switch ALM. I changed the pickups for EMG as 40Hz to gain even more precision.

So the sound is poustouflant: the bass is deep and ultra round and treble can be slammin wishes ...
The range of sound is trs varies: the bright funky blues good round, it excels everywhere.
It also marvel slap but I do not master this technique enough to rate a more prcis.

    OVERALL OPINION

It is 1995, but I bought it for OCCAZ in 2000.The quality-price ratio is excellent.
What I like most is the comfort of this low since the change of pre-amp and microphones, sound and sustain are truly staggering on this bass. The sound is the gently: there's more that give the groove ...
For me the change pramp (or microphones) is an obligation on the bass. Under this condition we get a real bomb for a small fee (the srucout is approximately 150 200 euros) ...
Note: The microphones can be changed by EMG 40 HZ or Bartolini M44 or Bartolini CF4 CBC best (but expensive). Pramp for a delano (or agilar) is IDAL.
Note: t brand Tobias bought by Gibson in the 90s and beginners it is not marketed in France.

Finally, I do it again without hsiter this choice: it's not rev high end but for a versatile bassist amateur is the best choice, plus a look that is changing the traditional fender.
