Zoom G1

This is the G1 multi effects pedal by Zoom. This is the most basic one they make. No expression pedal or crazy extra knobs just a simple selection of delays, reverbs, modulation effects, distortions and a few amp sims.

New these are only $50. I found mine used for $39 at Guitar Center with a factory power supply. You can run these on the power supply or 4 AAA sized batteries.

I used this generally as a practice amp. It has a tuner, plenty of cool sounds and a built in drum machine. You can adjust the tempo to a variety of drum beats.

The drum machine is worth it alone for this pedal. Fine tune what BPMs you want and bam, much cooler than a boring metronome.

The Harmonizing effects are cool as is the tracking for the octave effects.

The 2 footswitches are semi limiting. Say you like patch 31 and then want to go to patch 11 you have to down click 20 times. No big deal for practicing, just no ideal for live playing.

Plastic knobs, box and jacks. It has held up well, but I would be careful with it. One good drop or drink spill and I see this as a door stop.

A great practice tool! If you are without an amp, want a few basic drum beats to jam with, a built in tuner here you go.

I wanted to invest in a compressor to add a little "tock" attack of the strings of my Epiphone, a small "tac" nothing more. So I look on the net that was available, that choice! So I was off to a acqurir pedal, no multi-effects, I had already given. Then falling on this little Zoom 50 euros I said "At this price if the has not it does not matter," yeah, with this type of case there's a tuner is always practical. Hardly reu I ru on the beast. Habitu programming this type of gear, not a second galre.
All zero to test transparency ... to say anything, not a breath. The sound passes and does not trpasse!
Just a small compressor (The doc says it's meaning reproduce typicit a famous trademark), I had my "tac".
Second patch with the "tac" plus a small chorus for sweet-jazz ... nickel agreements. Then a third patch with a period, always impeccable.
As you can see, I do not use this crankset "bottom" ... no test distos, flanger, tips and stuff, I do not need it. But I wanted permit notice because I REALLY bluff. Complte transparency and sound reproduction quality for 50 euros! Had to put ten times, twenty times that price for the esprer the same thing there is little. Congratulations Zoom!
So I am using this little thing every day. I do not m'tendrai on the plastic casing, the first shot of a raging savate hardcoriste it flies in shine. I pressed with fingers and I do not change patch without stopping then fine. Moreover 50 euros more Zoom dresses the beast of metal, has said.

SOUND QUALITY

In use the headphone:
The amp simulations are interresting in clean, quite the Crunch
and Lead are nice, same for distos.
This lack of grain-sounding connection, it was a bit like that
The simulation work is more about the Tone on the rest but hey,
even when it's not bad!
We left wanting when it is expected to vritables simulations amps
on offer!

Using a simulation with DI HP Palmer PDI-09:
This is the solution prconise by Focus on the forum:
"Does not the G1/G1X Incorporate a modeling algorithm for line connection.
When using a connection line, You Should use the cabinet simulator to add
a speaker cabinet sound. "
L s'amliore much and you start really small apprcier G1,
clean sounds get really good trs, the Crunch (including that of the Tweed)
hold the road well and Leads are much more convincing and ralistes!
In short, in this configuration is that the G-1 is expressed and becomes fully
really usable! I confess that j'tais enough of one headset in use
and the same thought to the shop ... good, now I no longer regret
this purchase especially for the price!

Breath and background noise does not exist, really impressive!

OVERALL OPINION

Default:
No batteries supplied original.
Impossibility of using a simulation of pedals with amp simulation
because they are in the same module.
Can not enter a name patch is limited because the display and 2 digits
with 40 memory is a shame.
The rverbe disappears when one uses the bote rhythms (it even indicated in the instructions!)
Bote succinct rhythm (bass drum, snare and hi-hat)
Some rhythms of BAR are rarely useful Dance genre, etc ...
Emulation enclosure 3 limit only: Combo Stack normal or bright.
Simulation lgre a little acoustic guitar.
Patches not trsrussis original as is often the case!
No auxiliary input for a player for example.
NCESS to use an HP calculator using headphones or external recording
for it is fully expressed G1!

Quality:
No bulky and lightweight (as in a travel bag!)
Possibility to disable any part of a patch, it's a thought!
(Eg use only a simulation or a Disto Flanger, etc ...)
Choice of amps and distos Varis.
Many effects available, there is almost everything!
No wind or background noise, thundering enough ...
Its price: 60 euros!

The G1 is complete and trs not sound bad, it's not a Pod Tonelab or not!
This is not a true simulator as might suggest the list allchante
amps and distos proposes, it offers many cons sounds nice
and operators that significantly s'amliorent with the use of a simulator HP
external (that quickly becomes indispensable once you have tasted!) and allows
dcouvir of the real possibilities of this G1.

Some test with a low-end amp:
- The headphone is not bad but not worth the simulator use with HP
- In direct costs is nice but I can confirm that the simulations possdent
the same grain, they act more on the color and degree of distortion.
Nanmoins for the price and functions proposes, is a good buy!
