Pro musician/composer, mainly writing for others now, but still doing the odd gig here and there.

A dealer in Charing Cross Road, London (sorry- I forget the name.) Cost around £100 about 5 years ago. I bought it as I was looking for a single pedal that could do more or less anything and this seemed like a good option.

Ignore all the others on this site who have slagged this unit off- in my humble opinion you won't find a better multieffects pedal for the money. OK, some of the dedicated distortion/wah/delay/etc. boxes that you can buy may do their individual jobs better than the Zoom, but if you want a good all-rounder, this one is the one to go for!

I have no use for the drum machine patterns, but I suppose that they could be useful for some players.

It looks a bit fragile as it's plastic, but I've used it and trodden on it for years with not so much as a crackle!

If you're looking for dedicated state-of-the-art FX units, this may not be for you, but you'd have to spend a lot more to get anything that comes even close to what this does. I've had this for 5 years now, I use it all the time, and I'm not selling!

I bought the Zoom GFX-707 off of ebay.co.uk, for £37.50. I have been playing guitar for about 4 months, and i thought it would be a good idea to buy a pedal. They normally retail for about £100 so i got a good deal.

It has so many different effects, and a built-in drum machine. Its great for jamming, and the patches are easily editable.

The only bad thing i have found is the distortion effects. You can barely hear the melody or rhythm of what you are playing. However, there is one good distortion on there.

The unit is made out of plastic, but it is strong enough to withstand normal use. It might be a different story if you throw it at a wall though.

I bought this unit at music stop in Halifax Nova Scotia for $300.

What I like about this unit is that it has an unbelievable amount of features in it for a fraction of the cost of other models. Once you get to know the unit well enough the clean effects are very good sounding.

The bad part about this unit is the fact that it is plastic. It could break very easily. The other bad thing is that the distortion sounds are very cheap sounding.

The constructoin of this unit is not very good at all. I use it on stage and i am constantly bending over trying to fix sounds. The other thing is that it is built out of plastic. It needs to be more durable.

Bought the Zoom GFX707II at one of the popluar internet music stores for $149.
Had heard alot of hoopla about it and wanted to check it out myself.

Great sounds as in the first GFX707 pedal. Good solid space age plastic construction that is usually far superior and forgiving that metal. Ease of operation as in the first model.

Well, here it is in a nut shell kids, from a long time professional: If ZOOM would have had the insight to allow all effects and drum backgrounds to be recorded during sampling, the sampling would have been 44khz instead of the old 31khz, and there would have been impedance matching inputs and outputs, this pedal would have been THE HOLY GRAIL. BUT...they didn't and DIGITECH has nothing to worry about. If they had, DIGITECH would need to buy into ZOOM stock or merge so as not to get plowed under. Save your money and just hope they get it right the next time around(if we are not greyhaired by then) and pass on this one.

Construction quality is good as usual. Space age plastics that are far superior to metal fabrication.

ZOOM had a bullet, but shot themselves in the foot. Even ZOOM fans will be disappointed. Just save your money, pray they get it right the next time and pass on this one.

My rents ordered it from Harmony Central for me about 2 years ago now for around 135 bucks. I was looking for a multi effects pedal to cut my teeth on as I'd only been playing guitar for about a year and a half.

This pedal has a tone of effects, and when I was still stuck with my little peavy practice amp it really mixed things up for me. There's an effect called VHALEN that has some super sick distortion that I still mess with to this day. I used a few of the other effets, the jazz and blues tones, and some of the amp simulators a little bit when I was using headphones and whatnot. Overall, it has tons of effects and tone settings for you to play with.

My biggest beef with this pedal is how artificial most of the effects sound. A while ago I started recording into my computer and editing with acid pro, and no matter what I did it always sounded thin and fake. You can't combo the effects at all unless you take the time to make your own effect and even then switching between effects in the correct order can be a pain. I'm definately moving to stomp boxes now. My halfstack and its built in distortion coupled with a delay and phaser pedal are keeping me WAY happier than this thing ever made me.

Construction is alright, its made of plastic but I guess its somewhat durable. After about six months of use however the quarter inch input got kinda jacked up, so whenever I used the pedal I had to prop something against the side of the input to keep pressure and assure a solid connection, otherwise it sounded like TV static. yuk.

Decent pedal for a newb just getting into guitar. Its got a lot of show and not so much go go go. If I had the choice to buy this again knowing what I know now I probably wouldn't do it. Just pick the few effects that you want and buy used stompboxes on ebay or something.

I got this unit (the zoom 707 multi effect pedal) at guitar works In Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It was a steal of a deal because I stole it. Ha! Just kidding, I paid $200 Canadian for it.

This unit is perfect for begginers and any guitar player out there that wants a bunch of effects for a not so heavy price. Most of the effects sound very good especially the bazillion types of distortion avaliable. (Hyperbole, or is it? Dun dun dun). More effects include a flanger, weird talking thing, a cool funk effect, jazz effects, metal effects, (Good ones too), distortion effects, 12 string effect, distortion, Amp modeling, distortion, fuzz and crunch effects, distortion, light distortion, and heavy…

More effects include a flanger, weird talking thing, a cool funk effect, jazz effects, metal effects, (Good ones too), distortion effects, 12 string effect, distortion, Amp modeling, distortion, fuzz and crunch effects, distortion, light distortion, and heavy distortion. I think theres 70 effects in total and 70 more for you to program in. I've always been to happy to use their pre-programmed ones! You can modify each effect with three turn knobs. The unit also includes a rhythm... drum...thing. You can select from a lot of beats to jam to. Pretty cool and a lot of fun when you have no drummer! It also includes the ability to record 7 seconds worth of playing. A whole 7 seconds! What can you do with that seven seconds? I'll leave that up to you. You could always record stairway to heaven in 100 or so pieces. The unit is very small and portable, and has a built in expression pedal. It has a head phone jack, for wussies or "concerning" players that are afraid to wake the neighbours!! Also the pedal is supposed to have the ability to be able to "Scratch" (like the DJ sort of scratching) with the pedal. I'll be grateful if I ever figure out how to do it. It can take 8 double A batteries, or you can plug an wall adapter into it so it dosn't chew up your batteries like a woodchuck chucks wood. I don't understand what I just wrote either.

The expression pedal moves less then a garden snail. A slow garden snail. With no legs.

Its made of cheap feeling plastic, so if your planning to stomp the pedals or whatnot, wear proper foot protection, plastic splinters hurt. So far I havn't had a problem with its durability.

Some of it is confusing, for guys like me that burn manuals on site!! You need the manual to figure out some things, some of the 707's majestic powers are still unknownst to me. And i've had it for years.

The plastic is cheap, feels like one of those plastic cups the clear bendy ones. Just kidding its not that cheap! I havn't broke mine yet so it's been holding up for 2 years or so. The bottom panel is metal so I have a feeling it will last for another few years before it falls apart on me.

Bassicly all summarized theres a lot to like aobut the 707 and even more wicked distortion.
If your looking for cheap sounding good effects, its definatly one to look at.

Music gear review rocks the house!!! Can I have my free recording studio now =0)??

i brought this pedel at my local music shop for just over £100

some good effects, especially the "funk" effect which can sound really good when playing some faster ska typed riffs. good range of distortion

the lack of clean guitar effects, i found it hard to find an effect with out some kind of distortion, also when changing effects there is an annoying click or a pause which really effects when playing live.

built pretty strongly, well set out

    its ok, good fun

I like the fact that there are sixty different kinds of distortion sounds that are produced. My favourites are Metal, Crush(etc.) I also like the drum machine which makes it easy to play to a certain beat.

I Have no dislikes about this product

This unit has been used by my guitar teacher, so it is a very good quality. Just what you expected for the price.

This unit was purchased at Steve's Music in ottawa for $190 CAN plus tax.

I was very pleased with this effects processor. There's 8 parameters that can be changed for each effect, and around 4 different settings for each parameter, each of which can be tweaked in many different ways. There's 50 presets, 25 of which you can overwrite with your own effects, an expression pedal which can control everything from wah-wah to reverb to volume, and you can either cycle through the effects or jump directly from one to another, even if they aren't adjacent in the bank. Also, this pedal incorporates a digital tuner, which comes in handy and saves you from bringing one around with you, as well as a rythm machine which can help your practicing as well as let you jam without the help of a drummer. The rythm machine itself is very versatile, with many different styles to choose from, and the tempo is adjustable. Lastly, it includes an amp simulator, which is kind of a fun toy to play around with, but isnt a hot selling point for it.

For the most part, I was very impressed, but I did not like the sampler function of the pedal. It records around 8 seconds of play, and while it can loop, it will loop the whole thing, which can hinder it's use. For example, if you want to practice soloing on a chord progression, you have to record the chord progression so that it takes exactly 8 seconds, otherwise there will be a break in the playback while it plays the silence before or after your chord progression, which ruins the beat of your playing.

The pedal did not come with an AC adaptor, which is another sour point. The adapter itself adds another $20 CAN to the price.

Also, the patches can only have 6 character names. Not exactly a huge issue, but it was a bit of a pet peeve for the first couple of patches.

The construction seems pretty good on this pedal: while I wouldnt take a flying leap off a riser and land on it, I'm not worried about crushing it by using the foot pedals. The case is pretty durable plastic, and will probably last if it's not overly abused.

All in all, I think the pedal was a great purchase and I'd buy it again given the choice. Even with the issues with the sampler, I think for the price of the unit, the sampler should just be considered as an added bonus, albiet one that isnt that great. Overall, I'd give it a 4.8 on 5 for a beginner-intermediate multi effects guitar pedal within it's price range.

I wanted something to plug in a jam on right away that sounded the way I wanted, something affordable and user-friendly. I found the Zoom gfx707 at a small independently owned shop in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It costed $180 and features effects like distortion, phaser, tremelo, delay, echo, ring, vibrato and more. It has a expression pedal which can be assigned to control variables in a wide range of effects including wah-wah, volume control and delay time/rate. It even includes 24 pre-programmed play along drum beats with variable tempo. The sound quality is very good. Certainly the Digitech line of effects sound better, for twice the price. So for those of you who buy the cheap guitar cords because the Monsters are too much and are the least of your sound quality worries; I recommend Zoom multi-effect guitar processors.

I realize I didn't follow the form but I said what I needed to in the first secion. I didn't see these boxes below yet. Hope you can use it somehow as is.

    Christmas Present

This unit is good because it covers a wide variation of effects. It has everything from the normal stuff like distortions and wah to a talk box.

The effects lack guality. There's not that much choice or variation in each individual effect. They dont sound as good as single pedals. Also, the sampler is only 6 seconds, which is barely enough to fit a single riff in. The amp simulator that it has only has 2x4 amp models. 4 models with an A/B version of each (B is louder and fuller). Lastly, the pedal is kinda hard to push down fully either way.

Its made of plastic and is fairly well built. I wouldn't recomend it for a long road trip.

This unit works very well at giving you a wide selection of effects. Having more effects lessens the quality of effects. It is good for the beginner/intermediate player to use at home when practicing. (That's how i use it.)

My first multi- (or for that matter any-) effects pedal, I received this unit for Christmas. My dad got it from ActiveMusician.com for about $140, plus about $25 for the ac adapter (not included). I had researched products in its price range on the internet, and decided that this one would be the best deal, but neither Musician's Friend (mail-order/online store) nor the local music retailer here in Eugene, OR had it. I found it with an internet search on this obscure site I'd never heard of before (Active Musician) but they delivered it promptly and with no trouble.

I found it with an internet search on this obscure site I'd never heard of before (Active Musician) but they delivered it promptly and with no trouble.

Large variety of effects, and each is customizable for an almost endless variety of sounds. A good starter pedal for those like myself who are inexperienced in the ways of effects, I don't know what a lot of the different effects are, so I wouldn't know what to get if I were to go out and get single effects. For the price of 2 or 3 single effects, I get a whole truckload to play around with and pick my favorites out of.

None of the effects are spectacular. It doesn't have the greatest distortion, nor the greatest flanger, nor the greatest phaser, nor the greatest... But it's got a servicable one of everything at least. Also, many of the better (in my opinion) patches are in the user set, and I don't want to overwrite them, whereas the ones I'm not that fond of are in the preset bank that can't be edited.

Plastic. I'm a bit careful around this product, just because it's so lightweight, it FEELS like it might be fragile. I've not noticed any actual damage to the unit, though, it just seems fragile. I use it barefoot in my bedroom at night a lot, and it doesn't beat up on bare feet, nor do shoes tear up the pedals when I've got them on.

It's fun to play around with. Lots of fun to play around with. Kind of a jack-of-all-trades type of pedal, with one of everything, though a mediocre one of everything. Good pedal to help you decide what effects you like, then go out and buy a few single effects, better quality pedals with just your favorite effects.

I currently own a Fender Squire Stratocaster, and i know it isn't the best guitar on the market, so instead of spending all that money (which i haven't got)on a new one, i thought getting an effex pedal would spice it up. I therefore went to Charing Cross (In London) which is really good for musical products, and then asked around for the best buy within my budget. It all came down to one. The Zoom GFX 707.This looked the buisiness, coming with a pedal and stored in drum beats. As soon as i came home i logged on to this web-site, looked at the reviews they gave it, and once convinced, i bought it for £79 through a guitar magazine i bought.

This cool machine can take you into another dimension. The variety of sounds are unbeleivable and what makes it really stand out, is the variety of drum beats stored in it, from jazz to thrash metal. I still haven't found out everything it can do yet, but hey, discovering new things is all part of the fun!

I find it hard to critisise this masterpeice, but after thinking long and hard, i can only come up with that it has too many distortion sounds, of which could be replaced with more original effects.

This slick little machine is nice and compact, making it easy to carry and the weight of it is comfortable, making it feel actually real and not like a toy.It also looks very proffessional and strong. The pedal and selector buttons are easy to use with just the tread of a foot. The display is very clear and this is user-friendly and makes your guitar playing alot easier.

I want to say a massive thank you to Zoom for their quality and cheaper products. I now can play to my favourite songs to the extreme, and when I am on my own, I simply select which drum beat I want, and away i go! My final conclusion is that anyone who wants endless fun on the guitar should not hesitate in trying this cool, fun, slick yet proffessional device. :-)

I bought this effects unit online (I forget where) for $130.00. The reason I chose this was the good reviews I had read on Harmony Central's website.

For the money, this unit can't be beat! It has some pretty good effects; distortion, chorus, reverb, delay, flanger, wah, and too many others to list here. I think this unit surpasses some other multi-FX pedals in its price range because it has built-in drum beats. These are extremely useful for developing good timing and are often an inspiration for new licks or songs.

The majority of the other effects are kinda useless, but most of the ones listed above were satisfactory. The wah unit is controlled by an infrared LED and needs resetting…

The majority of the other effects are kinda useless, but most of the ones listed above were satisfactory. The wah unit is controlled by an infrared LED and needs resetting sometimes, but that's easy to do. Another drawback are the bad factory presets for most of the patches. While you can tweak all of them to your own tastes, you can only use 30
of the the 60 done how you like them. I think the only other bad thing is the red LED display- you can't see the thing in sunlight at all. Great for dimly lit rooms, though.

It's durable plastic, but the 1/4 in. jacks are, too, so you have to be careful with them. The unit seems pretty rugged despite that. Good quality sounds.

A great deal for a beginner guitarist. This thing hasn't let me down yet. Can't beat the price, neat little portable unit for anyone. (It takes 4 AA batteries, or uses a wall wart.)

Bought it from O'Sheas Music, Dalby, Queensland, Australia. I saw the Zoom Rep Demo it and was impressed with the quality and functions for the reasonably low price of AU$300.

I think the Zoom GFX707 is an ideal entry level unit to multi effects units. It has a good range of sounds and can be easily programmed. It also has built in functions such as a tuner, drum machine/ metronome as well as a 6 second phrase sampler to work out those hard riffs.

Although the casing is well constructed and quite tough the input and output jacks are abit flimsy. The array of sounds, whilst ideal for the beginner or garage band, would be limiting possibly even unsuitable for professional artists.

The casing is very sturdy. It can take my weight and I weigh about 150kg. As i said The in/out put jacks are abit flimsy and I have known several people who have had to have theirs replaced under warranty. If you take care though they hold up.

Overall, this is a very neat unit aimed successfully at the beginner to intermediate player. I enjoy owning mine and I am confident they can provide hours of fun and help to take you to the next level in your playing.

Well....abut the quality maybe i'll give it a 9 out of 10..its hard casing of plastic just give the right durable feel of a multi effects pedal.

For all of you guitar lovers out there...the GFX 707 is the coolest multi effects pedal i've ever seen..Why? because of its affordable price and its a compact pedal board. Need I say more? I rest my case.

I give it a "5" out of a 1-5 rating especially for the price!!!!

The only thing I can think of is that there's almost too many effects. They are also rather difficult to access when playing live (part of this is due to the fact that I havent programmed them into an assigned bank yet.)

It looked a little fragile to me at first, so I made a road case for it. However, I like the unit so much that I bought another one for backup since we play out quite a bit.
The large LED display is great onstage, but is very hard to see in a daytime/outdoor setting.

Having never had an effects processor before, I was sceptical and cautious about spending too much $$$.
As I mentioned before, I find the GFX 707 worth every penny. For my current purposes, I'm using the talk box(F5), Van Halen (4.4), and Distortion (0.1) settings. It's nice to know that there are many more options and practice aids available in a cost consious unit
    Thanks Zoom!!!
