I used this card with my laptop Toshiba Satellite A200, Pentium 4 Core Duo T2350, 2GB DDR2, 120GB SATA, FireWire, Windows XP Pro, I also tried on a MAC.

I plug on this map, an electric guitar, bass and microphone singing, each in turn quite sour. 6.35 Jack the outputs TRS I plug a pair of monitor Prodipe Pro 5.
The card is powered by a transformer provided as on my laptop firewire port is a 4-pin port, so a port that does not supply the devices.

UTILIZATION

The installation was done without problem with the CD provided with Windows XP Pro, Mac OS X there is no driver needed. Be careful not to lose the CD, because the drivers are not found on the net

The management interface of the card is very simple (almost too), the configuration is very simple. There are only three modifiable parameters:
-The sampling rate (44.1kHz to 192kHz of)
Asio-buffer
WDM-buffer

The manual is simple and clear but only in English.

GETTING STARTED

The drivers are pretty stable I did not crash due to the card, so far there has been no update.
I mostly use Cubase and Ableton Live and I work in 24bit 48kHz. For a project where I need to record guitar / bass / vocals I avoid opening 36 plugins, I reduce the latency to 6.0m, which allows me to play and apply some effects in real time. For larger projects I increase the buffer size to a latency between 14 and 24ms depending on the number of tracks, plugins open. I change the buffer size without leaving Cubase or Ableton, and it does not crash.

I did not test compared to the number of tracks can be recorded simultaneously, but anyway this card is not intended to multitrack recording, it can record a stereo signal (line) or a mono signal (input combo) but not two at a time.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 years.
What I like:
Its ease of use-
-A driver installation there is not a host of other software that installs the same time.
Price.
-The pre-amp is pretty decent for a card in this price range.
-The balanced outputs.
Firewire-connection

What I dislike:
-There are two headphone outputs with a 6.35 and one in 3.5mmm, but it's 2 output are in fact only one exit, the same signal on both the volume control and therefore controls both at same time.
-Balanced line outputs and headphone outputs send the same signal, for example injury in Ableton, it is not possible to preview a sample in the headphones before sending it to the speaker via the balanced output.
Before I tried to buy M-Audio Firewire Solo, which is fine but that does not fit my budget.

A sound card with firewire mic preamp rather stable at this price it's still hard to find better and new.
