What characteristics have motivated your choice?

- Firewire
- 192 KHz
- Compatible with Linux (ffado)

For what purpose?

Traquille to work at home after taking his studio, and for small projects like guitar / voice roaming.

What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / RAM / Disk, ...)?

Laptop Toshiba Satellite P500 / i7 2.6GHz / 6Gb RAM / SSD
Ubuntu Linux kernel with 32bit PAE RealTime

What instruments or systems (console, preamp, DtDs ...) the use and how you connect? ...

Taken from his acoustic guitar with live or mic, voice ...

UTILIZATION

The drivers are stable?

Never tested on anything other than Linux, but at least for me it works niquel, drivers are compiled by FFADO (support firewire interfaces on Linux)

What software do you use most often?

Ardour2 (it's like ProTools, but free), Jamin, and LADSPA plugins LV2 ...

What you get lag?

Ben even with the shoddy pc card (realtek), I make 0.2ms. Latency, the system is not the card ...

How many tracks do you manage to record / play simultaneously? ...

Registration: I never needed to take more than 2 with this card.
Reading: uh ... again it's the system, manifolds so I went up to 38 tracks 32bit-float/96KHz with 2/3 plugins per track before starting to drive my old cope.

GETTING STARTED

You plug it works. No need for manual.
It also works very well in independent preamp.
The first 2 are accessible entrance, and the back is not complicated, once you have identified the places you can go blind.

OVERALL OPINION

How long you use it?

2 years

Did you tried many other models before buying it?

I worked on the Digidesign (tying forces ...), Motu, Tascam, Yamaha.

What is so special that you like best?

Good momentum, it goes up to 192KHz, do not get too hot, solid construction. Good sound quality, and open to Linux (thank you Roland)

The least?

The preamps are a little weak people and you better have a microphone with potato or an extra preamp.
An independent volume control for output caique it would have made it perfect for me ...

How would you rate the quality / price?

Very good

With experience, you do again this choice? ...

Obviously, or I would have invested in her big sister, the FA-101 in order to make good live recordings.
This is a reliable product.
